Octopath Traveler II is a triumphant and confident follow-up to its predecessor, building on the established foundation with welcome new ideas and tweaks that make for an overall excellent experience. A strategic combat system, open-ended character progression, well-written stories, gorgeous visuals, and an incredible soundtrack all coalesce into one of the finest RPGs available on Switch to date. Though it may be more of the same, Team Asano demonstrates mastery of its craft at every turn here. We’d give Octopath Traveler II a high recommendation to anybody looking for a beautiful new RPG to add to their Switch collection.

Octopath Traveler II est une suite réussie qui consolide ses fondations tout en essayant d’atténuer les défauts du premier opus. Malgré tout, ceux qui n’avaient radicalement pas accroché à ce dernier ne risquent pas d’être convaincus tant le changement n’est pas drastique. Toujours est-il que nous sommes devant un JRPG très solide qui profite d’une excellente écriture, d’un gameplay réussi et de graphismes HD-2D magnifiques. Malgré les quelques défauts, on embarque volontiers de nouveau dans ce merveilleux voyage.

Octopath Traveler II non raggiunge l'8 pieno semplicemente perché indulge un po' troppo negli errori del passato, soprattutto sul piano narrativo. Non sono da meno alcune farraginosità di gameplay e una difficoltà fin troppo punitiva in alcuni frangenti, nonostante le limature, ma il punto più dolente resta la narrazione disconnessa. Le singole avventure sono bellissime, però sono antologie in una storia che manca di coralità - che non ha una cornice in cui inserirsi. Un peccato, perché artisticamente e tecnicamente il secondo capitolo della saga fa un bel salto in avanti (per non parlare della musiche), ma sebbene il cosiddetto more-of-the-same non sia sempre da leggere in chiave negativa (come in questo caso dove certi aspetti è bene che siano rimasti così), non può nemmeno dirsi esente da critiche. Esattamente come il precedente, Octopath Traveler II è un gioco che si ama o si odia: difficile trovarsi nella via di mezzo.

Octopath Traveler II is simply a better version of the original. It expands upon what made the first game great while shoring up its weaknesses. That being said, if you didn’t like Octopath Traveler then the formula is similar enough that you probably won’t like the sequel either. This is an excellent take on the classic 2D JRPG and fans of the genre won’t be let down.

Fans of Jeff Minter’s digital psychedelia will undoubtedly appreciate Akka Arrh once they learn to make sense of the on-screen bedlam. Fortunately, the steep learning curve is balanced by long-term appeal, positioning the game just south of classics such as Revenge of the Mutant Camels, Polybius, and Tempest 4000.

Ce qu'Octopath Traveler manquait, sa suite le trouve et l'incorpore avec attention. Si la structure du jeu laissait peu de place aux interactions entre héros, on prend maintenant plaisir à découvrir une aventure plus partagée, tout en maintenant l'individualité qui fait son charme. La formule fait le pari d'un jeu misant sur l'histoire plutôt que sur les combats et le grind, sans pour autant faire de concession. En résulte un RPG satisfaisant à prendre en main, et sort du lot dans la mer d'un genre de plus en plus indigeste. Square Enix tient là le digne successeur aux Final Fantasy d'antan.

Chef Life : A Restaurant Simulator propose ici une simulation de restaurant accessible de différentes manières. Développer son petit établissement en toute quiétude, avec des produits simples mais gouteux, en passant des heures à travailler sa présentation pour satisfaire les instagrameurs, ou au contraire faire face à des clients exigeants voire un peu snobs dans un restaurant contemporain gastronomique où il faut filer droit. Le tout est malheureusement non abouti et un brin répétitif puisqu'il s'agit plus d'une simulation de cuisine, certes un peu libre, avec quelques rares éléments de gestion et de décoration, plutôt qu'une véritable gestion d'entreprise et de restaurant de A à Z.

Chef Life : A Restaurant Simulator ne révolutionne pas le genre du cooking simulator mais fait de son mieux pour proposer une expérience agréable, orientée vers une cuisine gastronomique à base de produits locaux. Malheureusement, le tout est plombé par une technique datée ; les animations sont fades (quand elles ne sont pas inexistantes) et les déplacements d’une lenteur excessive. Finalement, Chef Life s’adresse avant tout aux passionnés de cuisine à la recherche d’une simulation réaliste et que l’aspect répétitif de la vie de restaurateur ne fera pas fuir.

Relic has taken everything that makes the first two games great and made sufficient additions to help Company of Heroes 3 succeed in this renaissance of RTS titles. While the visuals are improved and more detailed effects are there, the overall look still feels dated and the lacking performance hampers the experience. Having two campaigns is an awesome direction and while one is more streamlined than the other, the Italian Campaign revolutionizes the way to do a single player campaign for an RTS. The AI in skirmish is downright frustrating and the trouble with online multiplayer is unfortunate. What makes Company of Heroes 3 great is the growth within the actual gameplay and the subtle details experienced along the way.

Breakers Collection is a colourful pixelated 2D fighter that has only four attack buttons to use so it's good for players looking for a brawler that is more simple than other fighting games out there. The second game offers online crossplay for people looking to take on other players around the world, though sometimes it’s hard to find matches to play in.

As someone who enjoys the tactical action of Blood Bowl, I can easily recommend you go pick up Blood Bowl 2 Legendary Edition and have a gorey good time with it. As for Blood Bowl 3, though, I struggle to come up with a reason it needs to exist other than that someone has bills to pay, I guess. There's less reason to recommend it over its predecessor than an especially weak year of Madden or NBA 2K. It's a sloppy, muddy, buggy rehash of a better game. Sure, the strong core mechanics can still lead to some tense, exhilarating matches, but you could have all of that with a much sharper presentation in the version that came out during the Obama Administration.
