In conclusione di questa recensione di Saints Row, quindi, se non altro spero abbiate compreso che questo gioco non è Grand Theft Auto. Non vuole esserlo, e quando i due mondi che le due distinte serie rappresentano si toccano, lo fanno stuzzicandosi a vicenda; prendendo spunto l’uno dall’altra magari, per risolvere problematiche e proporre nuove soluzioni ludiche. Nel nome del comune genere a cui appartengono, e del setting metropolitano che condividono, ma di cui ciascuno rivendica aspetti diversi. Mettendo in luce la poliedricità del sandbox anche in questa condizione così simile tra i due. Di Saints Row, quindi, colpisce la costruzione narrativa, la caratterizzazione dei personaggi e l’editor con cui costruire, vestire e modellare il nostro/la nostra Boss personale. L’open world, Santo Ileso, è vario e ben costruito, e le attività che possiamo svolgerci sono sempre pirotecniche, scenografiche e coerenti con le regole messe in piedi dalla trama e dal suo tenore “power action pop”. Come ho già accennato, però, sarà seguendo la trama che raggiungerete i picchi di divertimento massimi che Saints Row può offrire. Sempre se riuscirete, qualora fossero ancora presenti in fase di release ufficiale, a passare sopra ai bug presenti, e alle fin troppe imprecisioni tecniche che inevitabilmente incontrerete lungo la strada. E che, con mio sommo dispiacere, mi hanno condotto ad attribuire un voto finale su cui pesa questa parte meno rifinita di una produzione che, una volta ripulita, potrà offrire decisamente di più.

Saints Row is a largely successful reboot, even if it sometimes feels dangerously outdated in terms of open world design. Its story and characters can be hit and miss, but the experience is carried by fun gameplay and an endearingly dumb sense of humour. Despite the new faces, Saints Row is definitely still Saints Row — just bigger and probably better.

Solid and definitely have an audience. There could be some hard-to-ignore faults, but the experience is fun.

After a promising start, PowerWash Simulator begins to expand in a way you cannot tackle feasibly, but only in scale. It’s one mechanic polished well enough to get by for a short while.
