It Takes Two is a fantastic co-op game, and feels right at home on Switch. Sadly the visuals take a big hit, but in return you get a few more options on how to play. It still remains difficult to get a co-op partner for the full game let alone enough controllers, however if you can manage you’re in for a great time.

Like a good book, Trails from Zero is all about welcoming and engrossing attentive players that enjoy solid writing to break up hundreds of turn-based fights against monsters and criminals. While its narrative about redeeming a redundant police corps is unlikely to arouse the curiosity of anybody unfamiliar with The Legend of Heroes, these characters and the city of Crossbell they inhabit are bursting with personality. If you can handle the lacklustre gear progression, nebulous orbment system and some old-school holdovers that contemporary JRPGs have rightly left behind, the likeable saga of Lloyd and his fellow oddball detectives is a must-play for series fans and a delectable entry point for newcomers.

Marvel Snap upends the collectible card game genre with some truly fresh ideas, impressive strategic depth, wonderfully slick presentation, and a fantastic use of the Marvel licence. Not everything it attempts is an outright win, however. Its high variance gameplay can be frustrating, but is mitigated by the short games and ability to retreat mid-match, while the collection system represents a bold move away from the norm of buying into a collection, but ultimately feels slow and unsatisfying beyond a certain point. Even so, Marvel Snap deserves a place in the pocket of card game players and Marvel fans alike.

God of War Ragnarok conferma la tendenza dei PlayStation Studios nello sfornare titoli single player dall’incredibile ed elevata qualità, capaci di bilanciare perfettamente sia la narrazione che il gameplay. A differenza di molti dei suoi “cugini” però, la nuova avventura di Santa Monica Studio abbatte il concetto di more of the same migliorando esponenzialmente ogni singolo aspetto del suo predecessore. Il rapporto padre-figlio che va a saldarsi nel corso della storia rappresenta il culmine di una narrazione mai banale e ricca di sequenze inattese per ciò che ci ha raccontato il passato. Una storia che purtroppo ha una sua fine, ma che allo stesso tempo lascia una porta aperta sul futuro della serie, che grazie al finale di Ragnarok potrebbe avere ancora molto da raccontare. Ciò di cui siamo consapevoli però è che dobbiamo soltanto ringraziare gli sviluppatori per questa incredibile avventura di cui abbiamo fatto parte, perché racconti simili è sempre bello leggerli, ma potervi addirittura partecipare è stato un privilegio a cui difficilmente qualcuno dovrebbe rinunciare. Alla fine di tutto non possiamo che urlare dalla cima più alta dei 9 regni che God of War Ragnarok non solo è un capolavoro mitologico, ma un titolo che resterà scoppito nel mito per tantissimo tempo!

The Valiant is a serviceable, squad-based RTS that serves up some usually well-balanced sword-clanging action for its heroes and their small bands of merry men, though it wears a bit thin once it’s evident how repetitive and backtrack-heavy the battles can get. There’s a sturdy story to drive it forward, though it too is let down at the last moment by an ill-considered final battle that renders all your decision-making throughout the campaign worthless. And while The Valiant does have multiplayer, don’t count on being able to find any opponents to clash with online.

An enthralling spectacle to behold and an even more exciting one to take the reins of, God of War Ragnarok melds action and adventure together to create a new, unforgettable Norse saga. Impeccable writing, pitch-perfect performances, knockout action – it’s a complete work of art from top to bottom. Reflecting its core themes, it's everything a sequel should be: respectful of its legendary lineage, but not afraid to take it to exciting new places. God of War Ragnarok is an almighty achievement and creates a new high that makes many of its peers look positively mortal by comparison.

Football Manager 2023 es una entrega conservadora para la saga de Sports Interactive, y ya van varias seguidas. Aún así, si bien ninguna de sus novedades destaca por por sí sola, todas ellas reman en la dirección correcta para hacer del juego una experiencia más inmersiva, realista y desafiante, capaz de hacer que inviertas una cantidad indecente de horas en hacer campeón al Morecambe.

God of War Ragnarok è bello esattamente come il suo predecessore, ma per motivi profondamente diversi. È più maturo in tutte le dinamiche di gameplay, più completo, più profondo e presenta un sistema di combattimento molto più vario, stratificato e gratificante. Però nel suo essere un sequel così fedele e coerente con il passato, perde per strada qualsiasi elemento di reale novità, si diluisce nella sua progressione e si scrolla di dosso anche quel tono di epicità che aveva contraddistinto il soft reboot. In fin dei conti è un more of the same; un bellissimo, divertente, longevo more of the same.

Sword and Fairy: Together Forever est une excellente surprise. Totalement inconnue des joueurs Xbox, la franchise de Softstar s'offre un épisode maitrisé qui pêche sur quelques détails, avec notamment un rythme que l'on aurait aimé voir pencher un peu plus du côté de l'action que de la narration, forcément plombée par ses textes en anglais. Sur le reste, la direction artistique incroyable et les combats sans fausses notes nous offrent un titre de très grande qualité qui s'inspire des meilleurs titres du genre, pour un résultat tout aussi convaincant.

Honey, I Joined a Cult mette in campo lo stesso cinismo già visto in Cult of the Lamb per declinarlo in salsa totalmente gestionale, e lo fa con grande successo. A fronte di alcune scelte estetiche non proprio ispiratissime e di opzioni nelle missioni a volte dall’esito un po’ oscuro, il titolo sviluppato da Sole Survivor Games convince pienamente, anche grazie all’ampio ventaglio di opzioni. E adesso dovrete scusarci, ma dobbiamo tornare a venerare il sommo Parasaurolophus: sarà anche un dinosauro erbivoro, ma è meglio non farlo arrabbiare...

The Chant è una discesa perturbante in altre dimensioni, giustamente separate dal nostro piano dell'esistenza; un'avventura a base di cultismo, natura, scienza prismatica, guru e meditazioni. Non è un videogioco che vuole davvero incutere paura, e anche i salti dalla sedia si contano sulle dita di una mano, ma nonostante questo una sottile angoscia comincerà molto presto a pervadervi. Sulla narrazione principale vi è poco da criticare, anche perché lo stesso argomento di partenza è non solo interessante, ma in parte anche originale. Diverse riserve potrebbero essere avanzate sul comparto tecnico, non propriamente brillante, soprattutto dal punto di vista delle animazioni dei personaggi, fin troppo carenti durante i dialoghi, e in generale poco soddisfacenti anche in tutti gli altri contesti; ma gli ambienti, complice il fascino generale e l'atmosfera, si salvano. Come survival horror, infine, The Chant brilla di rado di luce propria, ma le meccaniche proposte - la tripartizione tra Mente, Corpo e Spirito, nonché la possibilità di fabbricare e utilizzare oggetti improvvisati - sono coerenti con l'impostazione generale dell'intera esperienza. Se dobbiamo scegliere al posto vostro, vi consigliamo di provarlo. Soprattutto se i classici titoli horror non vi hanno mai davvero convinto.

The Chant demeure finalement une bonne surprise. Sans révolutionner le genre auquel il appartient, il parvient à apposer par petites touches sa personnalité et son originalité. En total maîtrise de sa narration, le jeu se perd tout de même dans son gameplay qui dispose d’animations trop pesantes accompagnées d’une nécessité au loot constant. Restent quelques énigmes qualitatives et plusieurs séquences intenses, à la mise en scène inventive et réussie. On notera également la présence d’un codex et d’un lore très poussé ainsi que des voix françaises pour renforcer l’immersion. Enfin, saluons tout de même le sentiment général de soin et de peaufinage apporté par les équipes que l’on sent en maîtrise de leur jeu pour rendre chaque section la plus aboutie possible.
