Quello di Batora Lost Haven è un viaggio che vale la pena di essere vissuto per ogni amante delle avventure fantasy. Una storia intensa e ricca di fascino, plasmata sulle scelte del videogiocatore e che scende ad alcuni necessari compromessi solo nelle fasi più avanzate delle peripezie intergalattiche di Avril. Il gameplay ibrido strizza l’occhio sia agli appassionati del genere sia ai semplici curiosi, e non vediamo l’ora di scoprire fin dove potranno spingersi in Stormind Games con i prossimi progetti.

Al netto di un’eccessiva linearità e di qualche incertezza nel gameplay, Batora Lost Haven è un’avventura piacevole che tiene incollati i giocatori allo schermo, desiderosi di scoprire come si concluderà l’epica storia di Avril in giro per la galassia. Il viaggio dell’eroina proveniente dalla Terra è costellato di ingegnosi enigmi, pericolosi nemici e scelte difficili, che possono essere vissute per intero grazie a una seconda partita in New Game Plus, la quale garantisce qualche ora di gioco in più e permette senza troppi problemi di completare il gioco al 100%.

Gotham Knights is the type of game you so dearly want to love, but time and time again it gives you a reason not to. What Warner Bros. Games Montreal has here is an excellent story with top-notch cutscene direction and a fun combat system, with too many needless and confusing mechanics bolted on top. If you can look past them, there's a genuinely great game here. We recommend trying your best to do so; you'll find a compelling narrative on the other side.

Par son gameplay simple, Vampire Survivors n'est pas un titre qui va révolutionner le jeu vidéo. Pourtant, son principe très addictif aura de quoi vous captiver pendant des heures. Grâce à un sentiment de montée en puissance continu, le titre parvient à capter constamment l'attention du joueur qui doit faire face aux vagues impressionnantes et interrompues d'ennemis, quitte à ne plus rien voir à l'écran. Un principe si efficace qu'il parvient à faire oublier ses graphismes très simples, ainsi que son contenu un peu limité qui s'expliquent notamment par le très petit prix du jeu. Il ne reste plus qu'à attendre les prochaines mises à jour pour voir si le titre réussira à se faire définitivement un nom dans le genre du rogue-lite.

Warner Bros. Montreal took a giant risk with Gotham Knights. Not only did the studio choose to forgo using one of the world’s most famous heroes, but also the top-rated Arkham series. What we have with Gotham Knights is an original setup filled with a great central cast and an intriguing tale of young sidekicks uncovering Gotham’s dark secrets and becoming knights themselves. When Gotham Knights works, it works well enough. The Court of Owls is a menacing enough foe and establishes the more interesting plot threads before the carpet is yanked out from under their feet and they’re replaced with a more generic, familiar villain. Combat is clunky and progression unnatural, but the unique playstyles of the four characters combined with a well-integrated gear system offer plenty of fun. It’s just unfortunate that the poor AI and camera take away from that combat. The game features a presentation that looks good, though generic, complete with performance issues. Gotham Knights has its moments of brilliance and fun, but never manages to step out of Batman’s looming shadow. These knights are more than sidekicks, they just aren’t heroes quite yet.

There are plenty of moments in Gotham Knights that make for a good time - the camaraderie between the heroes is enjoyable, and the city itself looks great. However, the combat is too basic and monotonous to stand on its own, and the story struggles to get going before it falls apart.

On ne pouvait pas terminer l’année 2022 sans écrire un test de Vampire Survivors, véritable phénomène qui a connu l’anonymat avant un engouement mérité. Finalement, c’est une trajectoire qui épouse à merveille la boucle de son gameplay. Où on commence petit face à des chauves-souris, avant de finir surpuissant, assailli de toute part par les pires créatures du folklore fantaisiste. Et derrière son approche simpliste, Vampire Survivors se paie l’audace de cacher une richesse addictive. On se surprend alors à enchaîner les parties, après s’être promis qu’on n’y toucherait jamais, ou jamais plus. Pour moins de 5 € (voire 0 € sur iOS et Android), ce petit jeu sans réelle prétention, ni ambition assumée, a vraiment tout d’un grand.

Mario + The Lapins Crétins : Sparks of Hope est l'une des plus belles surprises de cette fin d'année. Beau, complet et amusant, c'est l'aboutissement de la série qui ravira les amoureux des tacticals et des jeux Mario.

New Tales from the Borderlands ofrece una experiencia satisfactoria dentro del universo de Gearbox, con su característico sentido del humor como bandera y principal triunfo. Sin embargo, su falta de ambición y su poco inspirada jugabilidad lastran el conjunto.

Non nego che New Tales from the Borderlands mi abbia deluso, anche se gli riconosco il coraggio di certe scelte narrative, qualche invenzione estrema e demenziale davvero spassosa e un comparto grafico-artistico più ispirato del predecessore. Il problema è che la trama non riesce quasi mai a decollare, i dialoghi sono a volte sfiancanti, il ritmo altalenante e gli elementi di gameplay (soprattutto i Quick Time Event) meno ispirati del previsto. Visto quanto mi era piaciuto Tales from the Borderlands, mi aspettavo sinceramente di meglio.

Batora: Lost Haven è un'avventura con più luci che ombre, nella quale spicca soprattutto la caratterizzazione di Avril e Mila, del loro viaggio e del loro rapporto, assieme ad alcuni dei comprimari lungo i vari mondi. La narrazione soffre di una certa sbrigatività, per quanto motivata, e sul finale non si percepisce molto il peso delle scelte passate, ma la storia regge ed è dolceamara nel suo sviluppo. Lato gameplay alcune cose potevano essere valorizzate meglio di altre, ma nel complesso ne esce un'esperienza che non annoia e in alcuni punti offre un interessante livello di sfida. Niente da dire invece sull'estetica, riuscito omaggio agli autori (Paul Lehr e Alphonse Mucha) che vuole celebrare.
