Broken Pieces is a decent light adventure set in a nice-looking coastal town with satisfactory puzzles and some twists to the formula, despite minor aggravations and dull combat.

Choppy combat and a lack of innovation aside, Steelrising is an incredibly unique take on the French Revolution with some brilliant environment and character designs, it just doesn’t do enough to make it stand out from other titles in the genre.

With its setting and story, Steelrising could have been the Bloodborne-inspired Soulslike that many have been waiting for since the release of From Software's masterpiece. Unfortunately, the game developed by Spiders doesn't manage to be anything more than a middling game, with its gameplay issues making it hard to recommend to those who are not die-hard fans of the genre.

It’s still a bit rough around the edges, but Ooblets is a quirky combination of monster collecting RPG and farming sim. The humor and characters are incredibly charming, and the core gameplay loop is a ton of fun. For every annoying dungeon, there’s some cute Ooblets to battle and collect just around the corner. What Ooblets lacks in polish, it makes up for in charm.

Steelrising poteva e doveva essere la consacrazione di Spiders. Purtroppo la scelta, forse scellerata, di realizzare un souls-like a questo punto della storia del genere non ha aiutato a raggiungere l'obiettivo, portando il team ad un sostanziale punto di stallo. La storia di Aegis funziona, il worldbuilding è interessante e sfaccettato e i colpi di scena, seppur spesso telefonati con un pizzico di anticipo, rendono la progressione nella trama davvero interessante, ma parlando di un genere così dipendente dai tecnicismi del gameplay, un po' tutto crolla sotto il peso dell'esperienza pad alla mano. Confidiamo che il team francese possa aver colmato la propria voglia di action puro e scelga di tornare a quel che sa realizzare meglio: ottime esperienze RPG come lo è stata Greedfall giusto una manciata di anni fa.

Steelrising is a game of halves, adapting genre staples in fun and welcome ways while failing to stake much of a claim on their newly discovered grounds. Spiders have implemented some genuinely exciting changes in approachability and welcome players into an aesthetically rich and mechanically decent world. But as the writing misfires, and the world design leaves you feeling a little adrift, you can’t help but wonder if all this should have been in service of a better realised game.

S'il se distingue par son univers et certains concepts, Steelrising n'en reste pas moins un Bloodborne-like : efficace certes, mais aux décors moins fournis.

Steelrising souffle le chaud et le froid. Le gameplay est complet mais conventionnel, il n'apporte rien de nouveau comme a pu le faire Sekiro. L'univers est sympa mais reste trop timide : un peu plus d'audace et d'originalité auraient aidé le jeu à se démarquer de la concurrence, surtout l'année de sortie d'Elden Ring. Le jeu n'est pas assez difficile pour le genre et ne vous pousse pas dans vos retranchements comme un Nioh 2. Bref, Steelrising s'inspire de ses prédécesseurs sans jamais dépasser ni faire aussi bien qu'eux. L'expérience reste plaisante et a le mérite de vous faire parcourir un monde différent de ce qui existait précédemment. Pourquoi donc ne pas céder aux appels à la Révolution en attendant une éventuelle suite qui sera assurément plus fignolée et plus réussie... ?
