Atelier Rorona Plus may not reinvent the role-playing genre, but it does add new life to the poorly-received 2010 game. By fixing many of the original game's problems (including combat, crafting, exploring, visuals, etc.), the developers have turned an otherwise middling RPG into one of this year's most surprising releases. Either on the PlayStation 3 or PS Vita, Rorona's quest to save her workshop is worth taking.

Fans of Gundam and Dynasty Warriors may be thrilled by this pairing, but I found the simplistic gameplay and dull level designs too hard to overcome. I love the customization options and ability to switch mech suits, but hate that there isn't anything interesting to do with these characters. This is one franchise in serious need of a makeover.

Bound By Flame was almost made to be divisive. If you love gameplay above all else, then this will be an enjoyable experience for you. But if you're more of a story-driven gamer, then it would be wise to steer clear of this particular title.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 adds too many half-baked ideas to the original game's elegant framework. The result is a game that is half good, half frustrating, and all tedious. Just about every good idea in this game is held back by something that isn't quite finished or just plain doesn't work. Here's hoping Beenox gets more time to develop the inevitable Amazing Spider-Man 3, because there are good ideas here that just need some time and polish.

Even if you're not completely sick of the LEGO formula, you will be by the end of LEGO The Hobbit. This is a simple action game with light puzzles and an overwhelming cast of characters. It's also a disappointing retread of games you've probably already played. There are a few memorable moments sprinkled throughout this adventure, but this newest LEGO game covers too much familiar ground.

Wolfenstein is the perfect mindless shooter, and I totally mean that as a compliment. The New Order is classic first-person shooter action without without all of the complications that bog down many FPSes today. As a result, the fun factor is its strongest trait from beginning to end. Shooting Nazis, be they human or mechanical, never gets old and has never been so fun. Unfortunately, some of the game's charm may be lost on gamers who aren't familiar with the original release.

Don’t get me wrong, Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends is a ton of fun, but that is coming from a long-time fan of the series. If you know what to expect from the game, you will enjoy having access to the complete package on the go with its insane amount of content and replay. However, I am afraid that some of the technical hiccups are going to scare away gamers who get their introduction via this port.

MLB 14 The Show is a great baseball game marred by long load times, inconsistent online play, and performance issues. It's still a fun game and Road to the Show is, as usual, a great way to play the game. Fans of baseball will enjoy the game, but it's a little disappointing to see the performance issues.

Child of Light is an artist's RPG through and through. Combat is more thoughtful than intimidating, the story is at once archetypal and clever, and the game's visual and auditory flare is truly something to behold.

The game straddles the line between fun and annoying at times. Playing for extended periods will surely end in burn out, but for the short spurts played it offers some fun and exciting gameplay among some rather boring backdrops and generic story.
