Giraffe and Annika is weird in a lot of good ways, and it has the kind of tenacity and heart that makes any good ‘indie’ experience a rewarding one, but there’s no getting around the fact that it lacks in production value and doesn’t amount to much more than a few hours of fetch quests wrapped up in a nice story. I hesitate to say that it’s an objectively ‘good’ game, but it’s an effective enough experience that hardcore weebs, especially the cat lovers among us, won’t mind giving up an afternoon to see it through.

Peaky Blinders: Mastermind is a brilliantly designed and executed puzzler, whose only real flaw is that it simply doesn’t make sense as a Peaky Blinders game. While the story mostly passes muster, fans of the show will probably be left a little underwhelmed, and those unfamiliar with the characters might struggle to connect with the story at all. Is Peaky Blinders: Mastermind a good game? Yes, it is. Is it a good Peaky Blinders game? Unfortunately not.

It’s no masterpiece, but in it’s particularly niche genre of GIANT CRAB BATTLE GAMES it shines as an example of a water-cooler idea turned into a silly smash-up of epic proportions. Explaining its concept to your mates may return a cocked head and a concerned expression – but get them at the helm of one of the crabs and they are extremely likely to have a good time. While Fight Crab may not earn a spot at EVO or garner its own esport league (a crime, really), it definitely fits into that ideal spot of being a great time with friends, and will likely generate tons of amazing Twitch streams and YouTube highlight videos.

This game is hard to put down, drawing you in to complete just one more day towards your goal of operating an aesthetically pleasing and functional farm, making furry friends and piles of cash, or all of the above. SoS: FoMT rings with nostalgia but it doesn’t feel tired or worn out, but rather rejuvenated. This game would be a great entry for newcomers of all ages, in particular thanks to the easy mode, but provides plenty for returning players wanting to journey back to where the genre blossomed without having to have an old console. This is certainly a great example of a remaster done right, with limited issues and a whole hog (though there are sadly no piggies) of fun.

GORN can definitely be a fun night in where you can grab a beer, kick back and lay carnage with a big grin on your face. There are enough weapons available and a plethora of settings and presets in the Endless Mode to keep you distracted for a while. GORN is not trying to be more than what it is and I appreciate that. I think it’s also an easier game to jump into compared to some of the more involved VR experiences out there. However, offering more options for movement, controls, modes and customization would have made that $24.95 AUD asking price slightly more tantalizing. Brutal fisticuffs with your mates would have been even sweeter, but I guess we all need to practice social distancing, even in VR.
