Naruto: Path of the Ninja isn’t a bad game, it’s just a stale one. As the first in a series of Naruto RPG titles, there’s little here outside of the license itself that’ll get fans of the anime excited, as the experience is extremely cookie-cutter, linear throughout, and yet another rehash of the Naruto origins tale. If you simply can’t get enough of the Naruto lore, consider this a decent recap of what you’ve already experienced on video or in written form, as the game does a great job of taking the beginning of the series plot and translating it to an extremely traditional role-playing experience. Outside of that, you’ll get the same level up structure, the same skill evolution, random battles, and portrait storytelling as nearly every other RPG before it, as Path of the Ninja does little to evolve the RPG world.

The fact of the matter is that BlackSite: Area 51 is just like every other run-of-the-mill FPS out there. You can find better multiplayer in Halo 3, you can find a better storyline in Bioshock, and you can find a livelier environment in just about anything. The game underperforms in every aspect, and although that doesn't make it bad, it certainly makes it a major disappointment for everyone who was anxiously awaiting this game's debut.

Crash of the Titans for PSP is a decent port of a briefly entertaining game. But even then, the PSP version loses out to the consoles in a number of areas; especially when it comes to multiplayer. Considering that the PS2 version retails for the same price as the PSP one, I would recommend that you just go straight to the home console game if you have to play a new Crash.

Mini Desktop Racing is another shovelware title that simply needs to be ignored at all costs. It’s better than its partner in crime, Offroad Extreme, but only by a hair, as the racer’s controls are still extremely uncomfortable, pretty unresponsive, and completely lackluster. Mini-games in Wario Ware, Wii Play, or EA’s Wii Playground run circles around this game, and offer a ton of other modes on top of basic slot car racing. Mini’s visuals are a joke, and if this game was available on Wii Ware rather than on physical media we’d still recommend it for absolutely nobody, as it’s nothing short of insulting. The back of Mini’s box labels this game as “A perfect combination of miniature Mini mayhem and madcap multiplayer madness.” We’d say that alone doesn’t do the game justice though, as it also “Musters magnificent malignant migraines and manages to make marvelous must-play moto-racing for masochists with moronic monetary management.” The fact that Nintendo even puts its official seal on this game is nothing short of laughable.

The Nintendo DS is not lacking in racing games, and it's certainly not lacking in good racing games: Mario Kart DS is still among the tops, and this holiday season alone has seen the release of the impressive Race Driver: Create and Race hit the system. But when it comes to conversions of console racers (or any game for that matter), even if the game's impressive for Nintendo DS standards, it's hard to make the argument to spend the dough on the portable version over the PlayStation/Xbox/Wii editions. Need for Speed ProStreet ended up a really good product on the Nintendo DS. It's a modest success with its fair share of pros and a handful of cons, but for the most part the development team's showing that it's getting more comfortable with the DS platform with every project it helms.

Need for Speed ProStreet is a disappointing effort in a franchise that has generally been rather solid. It sort of feels like EA is starting over again, leaving the open-world aspects to other games like its own Burnout Paradise, but is seems like Black Box didn't know what to do with what was left. It could have still been a decent game had the cars driven well, but unfortunately their performance is shoddy. Car lovers will find something to like here due to the customization options, but Need for Speed has certainly seen better days.
