Devil Summoner doesn’t get off to a strong start. Visually it’s rather unappealing and the lack of strong plot to begin with could easily turn some people away. However, do so and you'd be missing out on one of the PS2’s more interesting RPGs. The demons are certainly the stars of the show, making random battles seem almost interesting and adding a lot of depth to the gameplay with their elemental attacks and the ability to fuse them together. When the story does get going it’s genuinely interesting with a lot of twists and turns, all of which is helped along by the historical Japanese setting.

Fans of the series likely need no convincing, as they've doubtless already downloaded this delightful title. Similar to Super Paper Mario (without the 3D), but stressing more of the upgrading element, Wonder Boy in Monster World is a solid addition to the VC library. The stellar soundtrack, beautiful graphics, engaging story, and rewarding gameplay will keep gamers glued to this lengthy quest for quite some time. A marvelous matrimony between action and RPG, spending 800 Wii points on this game will be a decision you shan't regret.

Wise old Lode Runner has been making puzzle/ action fans play "just one more" for almost two and a half decades now, and though Battle Lode Runner isn't the most exciting title in the series, it does have the occasional burst of fun. Just don't expect much more.

Burnout Dominator is best thought of as a "Greatest Hits, but Not All of Them" from the Burnout series. The racing is just as adrenaline pumping as it's ever been, and possibly even more so than what we saw in Burnout Revenge as you need to be afraid of traffic once again. However, the lack of standard features and modes like Crash are a rather big disappointment. It's more worthy of a pickup on the PSP than the PS2 however as its simply more impressive as a handheld game and the multiplayer features are much more robust.

And that's really the vibe of this release. Gradius III stands apart from the crowd by retaining its depth over the years. Cash in those dollars now and invest in this shooter now -- it's one of the best and brightest stand-outs in a too-full genre.

ProStroke Golf is a game for golfers thanks to the advanced control options. But the controls aren't enough to separate it from the rest of the passable golf games on the market, and the mediocre visuals and presentation don't help ProStroke's cause very much. However, the gameplay is solid and realistic, and a clear departure from the direction of Hot Shots and Tiger Woods PGA Tour. ProStroke is a decent purchase and a true challenge in shot-shaping. It's too bad there wasn't more focus on fun.

Perhaps a traditional 2D platformer at heart, Bonk sets itself apart from the Marios and Sonics out there by making players laugh at the ridiculousness of it all, while still employing rewarding gameplay in exotic locales. If you were a fan of the original, then you'll definitely find a lot of fun to be had here. If you haven't played Bonk's Adventure, but are looking for a fun platformer with a twist, the game is well worth the 600 points.

The TG-16 has previously seen a few other side-scrolling brawlers from the likes of Vigilante and Splatterhouse. Bravoman proves to be a good companion to these titles, as together they form a picture of what a staple the genre was back in the early '90s. Given the choice between the three, I'd likely give a slight nod to Bravo (even if it doesn't do anything particularly well beyond its kookiness). But it's worth considering a purchase of any one of them to get a sense of that part of Hudson company history.

Even if it were free, Super Rub-a-Dub would be too much of an investment for too small a payout. Dull and monotonous with little interactivity, the game is almost completely devoid of fun because of poor design choices and the worst example of Sixaxis support we've seen yet. Avoid it at all costs.

It's been a two year wait for the true Pokemon experience to surface on the Nintendo DS platform. After ten years of Game Boy Pokemon catching and battling, the core game mechanic still holds up as an addictive game design -- tons of strategic depth and gameplay that's incredibly rewarding; it's one of those games that offers an enormous sense of accomplishment for even the littlest things performed. And the touch screen functions of the Nintendo DS help move things faster and easier with simple navigation menus The developers more capitalize on the system's capabilities in function and interface rather than visual and audio presentation. Sure, there are elements going on here that couldn't be done on the Game Boy Advance, but it's hard to argue that the game looks and sounds a heck of a lot like the past portable versions. 8-bit limitations drove the game's original style, but now that the limits are no longer there it's a little bit of a letdown that Game Freaks played the whole Pokemon production conservatively instead of pushing something more epic. The gameplay holds up incredibly well a decade later, but we're still looking like a ten year old portable game here. Don't think for a second that this will be the exclusive Pokemon RPG experience on the Nintendo DS, though -- if the past handhelds are anything to go by, we'll have multiple sequels. Now that Game Freak's first one's out of the way, hopefully they can take the portable Pokemon experience to the next level.
