Overall Shadows of Undrentide is a quality expansion pack, but whether or not to get it really comes down to do you really want to spend the money on a new module. It's certainly professional and well done, but so are user-created modules like Birthright of the North or the Dreamcatcher series. If you're a Neverwinter modder you'll probably want to get it just for the tilesets, creatures and new scripting wizards and NWN fans will find plenty here to keep them busy, but Shadows of Undrentide isn't a "must-have now" expansion pack for the average gamer.

I'm surprised more companies don't release games for $20. At $20, more people will take a chance on it and be rewarded. The game isn't bad. In fact, it's fun, mainly due to the chainsaw and shotgun action. The one-liners themselves are worth at least a rental. It isn't the most technically stunning game you'll ever see, but it does have Bruce Campbell and a brand new storyline within the world of Evil Dead. Those burned by Hail to the King, give this one a try. It's a lot better. Fans should pick it up for $20, and everyone else should probably rent it.

Wakeboarding Unleashed isn't as good as Aggressive Inline or the Tony Hawk series, but it is a great deal of fun. In fact, this is one of my favorite extreme sports games, despite some of the standard features missing from the game. It's challenging, it's incredibly long, and the gameplay is distinctly wakeboarding. Heck, before Unleashed came along, I didn't even know what kind of gameplay could define wakeboarding. This is it. You don't have to dig wakeboarding or even know who Shaun Murray is to enjoy the game. Wakeboarding Unleashed is a refreshing change from the latest batch of extreme sports games, but probably isn't going to make you change your religion or enlighten your video game life. The multiplayer is deserving of the high praise and the single-player career mode is solid. If you've been waiting for a new extreme sports game to chomp into, give Unleashed a try. If you don't like it, you can always roll your eyes and curse that damned IGN editor who steered you wrong. That's what I always do.

Possessing a complete lack of knowledge in rally racing in real life, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect from V-Rally 3. I was completely taken by surprise by how much I enjoyed racing through the wooded courses of England, the open dusty plains of Africa, and the snowy landscapes of Sweden. I will have to warn those looking for a serious rally racing simulation that you might want to keep looking. I dislike simulation games, and primarily stick to arcade racers like San Francisco Rush. I interpret the quickness and ease it took me to get accustomed to and enjoy V-Rally 3 as a racer as a sign that this arcade simulation hybrid is more arcade than sim. I was pleased with the overall package that is V-Rally 3. How much longevity you can squeeze out of the title after you win V-Rally mode is questionable, but at least there are a decent amount of tracks to occupy you. The only real questionable characteristic of V-Rally 3 is the graphical inconsistencies.

Bloody Roar Extreme is a tough game to assign a score to. On one hand, it's a moderately entertaining fighter with an interesting gimmick and enough modes to give it a good amount of replay value. On the other hand, the game's fighting system and control scheme are in desperate need of a revamp, this is pretty much the same game I've been playing on the PS2 since 2001, and furries make me uncomfortable. What tips the scales in favor of Bloody Roar is its price. At under $30, it's not a bad deal at all, even if you only break it out occasionally when too tired, inebriated or otherwise unable to play a more complicated game. Another factor in Bloody Roar's favor is the lack of quality fighting games for the Xbox. While it's certainly not as good as, say, Dead or Alive 3, it's sure as heck a whole lot better than Kakuto Chojin. If you're in the market for a new 3D fighting game and you've already played DOA3, Mortal Kombat: Dark Alliance and Tao Feng, Bloody Roar Extreme may be just the thing for you. Just don't develop a fursuit fetish, huh?

In the end, any criticism I can offer on this game is merely nitpicking. The occasional weaknesses of the game are few and far between and the overall momentum of the game propels you past the dull spots so quickly that you'll only begin to notice them once you start looking for things to criticize. As a matter of personal taste, I think I'd prefer to play the game on the PS2 for the simple reason that it feels more fun in a living room environment. (Plus it gives me something to do while the wife is playing The Sims.) Kicked back on the couch with the surround sound turned way up, you'll find that you're pulled in to the whole experience much more immediately than is perhaps possible in a desktop format. Gamers who have more comfortable, EAX supported environments around their PC will find it more difficult to favor the console version for these reasons. Still, the new additions and control tweaks for the PC are slowly but surely tearing me away from the television. Heading back to play the title on the PS2, I'm more aware of the frustrations of aiming and the lack of a custom soundtrack. Those additions are powerful enough to almost justify playing both versions of the game. While Vice City is a better title than its predecessor, it does lack a lot of the surprise and discovery of the first title, at least in terms of design. I won't hold that against Rockstar too much. After all, there's not much incentive to innovate when the previous game is still selling like crazy. Still, the few additions they've made make Vice City a better (if not as unexpected) a treat.

Overall, Lost Kingdoms II is a definite improvement over the first game. You get twice as many monster cards, a quest that's two or three hours longer, some voiceover work, improved graphics, a better two-player mode, a less linear quest, and a few battle upgrades, but the core gameplay remains the same. The whole experience is more balanced and the changes are definitely welcome, but Lost Kingdoms once again is hampered by a cookie-cutter storyline and an overall feeling of blandness. The entire quest just feels uneventful -- and if it weren't for the added draw of collecting all the cards, it would be over so quickly you'd swear it was an action game, not an RPG. I can't deny that Lost Kingdoms shows a lot of potential to some day blossom into an appealing RPG series, but it's not quite there yet. The basic battle mechanics are solid but need more depth, and the character development, quest, and story elements need a big shot in the arm. Given the dearth of RPGs on GameCube, Lost Kingdoms II is worth a rental and makes a decent purchase for fans of the card RPG sub genre. We're thankful that Activision hasn't forgotten about US RPG fans and has brought the second game stateside as well, but it really should have been value priced. Sure, the inclusion of a free Memory Card 59 helps to somewhat justify paying $50 bucks for what would pass as a budget title on PS2, but a game save only takes up 3 blocks, so a lower price point would have been a much more commendable strategy for such a short game.

In the end, Ghost Master is not supposed to be a glorified fish tank, however amusingly morbid; it promises satisfying game play and real strategic challenge. Unfortunately, these are promises it simply can't keep. Despite its strong personality and impressive presentation, Ghost Master isn't so formidible with the lights turned on.
