Team Sonic Racing realiza una apuesta genuina e interesante en el género de los videojuegos de karts con dinámicas de conducción en equipo y la apuesta por un particular modo historia. Los desarrolladores de Sumo Digital pecan de algo de repetición en la propuesta, y les falta esa chispa y octanaje de los grandes, pero como videojuego de conducción arcade es una opción muy a tener en cuenta, especialmente si te gusta este tipo de títulos o eres directamente un incondicional del popular erizo de SEGA.

There’s a ton to like about Team Sonic Racing. The racing itself is as tight and high octane as ever while remaining accessible. Some of the challenge might be a bit much for the wee ones in single player, but otherwise, the solo content is extremely engaging and well balanced. Online works like a dream and local play with friends will still serve up some classic rivalries turning into fist fights. By design, there’s some stuff that was in the previous game whose absence feels missed here, but Team Sonic Racing is still a no brainer for Sonic fans and kart racing fans alike. The concept might still not make sense, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fantastic.

Team Sonic Racing è un gioco realizzato con innegabile diligenza: ricco di contenuti, piacevole da giocare e con una modalità cooperativa decisamente ben strutturata. Nonostante ciò, patisce sulla media/lunga durata, con un design delle piste non sempre felicissimo e la leggibilità dell’azione talvolta compromessa da alcune scelte estetiche. Il gioco dei Sumo Digital, quindi, pur regalando picchi di indiscutibile divertimento, è privo di quel guizzo, di quella scintilla ludica in grado di colpire appieno il videogiocatore e di fare la differenza.

Team Sonic Racing è un arcade simpatico e sfrenato, il cui unico obiettivo è regalare una buona dose di divertimento a un pubblico molto giovane e ad un gruppo di amici per sessioni di gioco totalmente spensierate. Se la limitata profondità ludica non è certo un problema, la povertà di contenuti risulta meno accettabile, rappresentando il difetto più evidente di un titolo confezionato piuttosto bene. Vivace e colorato sul piano grafico, incalzante e ben doppiato su quello sonoro, il titolo di Sumo Digital è un inno alla serie SEGA: sfrecciare in pista con i personaggi di Sonic The Hedgehog è un piacere che soddisferà tutti i fan più sfegatati del franchise.

Con Team Sonic Racing, Sumo Digital è riuscita a ricreare quel senso di velocità che regala una buona scarica di adrenalina a ogni sorpasso, sportellata o attacco messo a segno, proponendo un modello di guida divertente, semplice ma estremamente efficace, che enfatizza il gioco di squadra. Un’intuizione che rende ancora più serrate le sfide multiplayer e che funziona discretamente bene anche nel single-player, sebbene a livello narrativo la campagna non brilli per originalità. Team Sonic Racing è un buon racing che però complessivamente fatica a reggere il paragone con Mario Kart 8, peccando anche sotto l’aspetto artistico. Se siete fan sfegatati dell’iconico porcospino blu allora Team Sonic Racing è senza dubbio meritevole di una possibilità, in alternativa vi consigliamo di aspettare il prossimo Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled per poi rivolgere l'acquisto sul prodotto più in linea con le vostre esigenze.

Team Sonic Racing si presenta al nostro cospetto come un buon prodotto, solido e senza particolari problemi. Il titolo arriva in un periodo abbastanza favorevole, anticipando così la concorrenza di Activision con Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, papabile rivale in ambito kart racing. Il prodotto sviluppato da Sumo Digital e distribuito da SEGA richiama a sé tutti i personaggi della leggendaria saga con protagonista il riccio blu Sonic con una visione d'insieme davvero ottima, ma che alla lunga potrebbe diventare monotono per via la troppa affluenza di contenuti in una sola modalità. Il titolo si apre al gioco di gruppo con le modalità in locale e multigiocatore online, quest'ultimo inviterà i giocatori più competitivi a sfidare nuovi avversari nelle partite classificate. Per concludere, nonostante vi siano effettivamente pochi contenuti, Team Sonic Racing raggiunge l'equilibrio grazie a un prezzo di mercato ottimo, che rispecchia perfettamente l'offerta proposta dal kart racing di SEGA.

Team Sonic Racing is a fun and intelligently designed, albeit content-light, kart racer. The game’s central focus on teamwork gives the experience a unique and engaging flavor and its sense of speed kept me dialed in. But, that isn’t enough to assuage the title’s evident flaws. From an unimpressive roster of stages to lacking modes outside of Team Sonic Racing’s great single-player campaign, I’d be hard pressed to see this game lasting more than a dozen hours for many fans. While the fundamentals are fun, this racer could’ve used a tune-up before coming to market.

Pur risultando divertente e immediato da fruire, Team Sonic Racing paga lo scotto di un evidente limite, ovvero il fatto di non aver saputo (o voluto) differenziarsi dal capostipite di Nintendo. Una scelta che al contrario si era rivelata vincente nei precedenti titoli targati SEGA e Sumo Digital. Piste e power-up prestano il fianco a tante, forse troppe, analogie con Mario Kart, finendo per risultare meno incisivi di quanto avrebbero potuto essere. Il risultato è un inevitabile senso di già visto che si palesa tanto a livello visivo quanto sul piano dell'interazione. Abbiamo invece trovato apprezzabile la scelta di introdurre la dinamica degli incontri a squadre, che regala i momenti migliori soprattutto se fruita in compagnia degli amici o con il resto della famiglia. Per i possessori di Nintendo Switch rimane evidentemente un titolo di scarsa attrattiva, mentre per tutti gli altri potrebbe comunque essere un buon viatico per trascorrere qualche ora in rilassata spensieratezza con Sonic e i suoi bizzarri compagni d'avventura.

Un titolo che farà sicuramente felici i fan di Sonic ma che, a conti fatti, può avere un sapore di stantio al palato dei giocatori. Sumo Digital ha avuto alcune interessanti idee per Team Sonic Racing, alcune delle quali sono in grado di differenziare questo racing game dai concorrenti. Il correre per un team, dovendo soppesare non solo la nostra situazione in pista ma anche quella dei nostri compagni di scuderia, aggiunge profondità al titolo pur non intaccandone in alcun modo l’immediatezza propria del genere. In definitiva un titolo che fa il suo dovere e offre una buona varietà di situazioni e modalità di gioco anche al giocatore più navigato ma che, dopo qualche ora, rischia di diventare noioso -anche se mai ripetitivo- se affrontato senza la giusta compagnia.

Team Sonic Racing si presenta con una difficoltà a livello di qualsiasi giocatore. E’ possibile sbloccare difficoltà più elevate nella modalità Campagna che possono aumentare il livello di competitività dell’IA facendovi godere di più il gioco. Sta di fatto che se Sonic avesse corso con le sue gambe, probabilmente, l’adrenalina avrebbe avuto una velocità più elevata. Ciò che salva il titolo SEGA sono le novità che ha portato in termini di gioco di squadra e minigiochi in modalità Campagna. Per il resto, il gioco supera di poco la sufficienza e Sonic corre ma si trova ad inseguire i competitor.

Team Sonic Racing a le mérite de proposer un concept de jeu qui le différencie de la concurrence directe. Mieux, les idées mises en œuvre pour appliquer ce concept fonctionnent extrêmement bien, faisant de Team Sonic Racing un vrai bon jeu de course en coopération. Malheureusement, le design assez inégal des circuits affaiblit l'expérience de jeu, en empêchant les courses de délivrer toute l'excitation, la tension et les moments de grand frisson que l'on attend de ce genre de titre. Et c'est frustrant puisque sur le reste, le dernier-né de Sumo Digital n'a pas grand-chose à se reprocher, au point même qu'on en avait oublié l'absence des autres licences de Sega. On conseillera tout de même de donner une chance à ce Team Sonic Racing qui propose quelques chouettes idées de gameplay.
