Sid Meier's Civilization VI est un monument du jeu vidéo. Il réussit le tour de force de renouveler une série vieille de 25 ans. Là où Civilization V et Civilization Beyond Earth décevaient de par leur manque cruel de nouveautés, Civilization VI sublime et réinvente certains pans entiers de gameplay. Il nous pousse à jouer quelques tours de plus, et ce jusqu'au petit matin. Malgré quelques défauts d'IA, Firaxis fait là un sans faute. Tant graphiquement que techniquement Civilization VI démontre que la stratégie n'est pas morte et que la licence à encore de beaux jours devant elle.

Pur non avendo fondato il genere 4X, Sid Meier ha indubbiamente il merito di averlo coltivato e fatto crescere negli ultimi 25 anni, grazie alla serie Civilization. Il sesto capitolo di questa serie, ancora una volta, è riuscito a portarvi nuova linfa. Nonostante alcune feature, come i distretti, ricordino qualcosa di già visto in altri prodotti del genere, i “ragazzi” di Firaxis sono riusciti a rielaborarle abbastanza da farlo risultare del tutto nuove. La reintroduzione di concetti del passato in nuove fogge, come le forme di Governo e le formazioni di più unità militari, inoltre, migliora alcuni dei problemi riscontrati nelle ultime due iterazioni, come l’affollamento di unità in giro per le mappe e la superficialità dell’approccio al progresso civico. Rimangono semplicistiche, invece, le meccaniche legate alla Religione, ma crediamo che la prossima, prevedibile, espansione sarà dedicata anche e soprattutto a questo aspetto, così come Gods & Kings ha introdotto le Religioni in Civilization V. Gli unici altri difetti che separano il gioco dalla perfezione, a parte la questione Religioni, riguardano piccole forzature dell’UI e titubanze nella risposta del centro notifiche; pertanto, se riuscite a sorvolare su questi lievissimi inciampi e siete appassionati del genere, l’acquisto è praticamente obbligatorio.

Civilization VI is the most strategic installment of the Civilization series to date. With upgrades to everything from city planning and management to an entirely revamped social policy system, the are lots of new and improved features to dive into. Diverse maps, unique leader abilities and plenty of interesting rival empires to befriend and fight, Civ VI has a lot to explore and great replay value.

En empruntant certains éléments à une concurrence ayant mis à mal l'hégémonie de Civilization sur le monde du 4X, Firaxis est parvenu à redonner ses lettres de noblesse à une licence vieille de 25 ans, qui n'a jamais parue aussi jeune qu'aujourd'hui. Sans être exempte de reproches, cette sixième itération de Civilization propose de nombreux changements et pléthore d'ajustements rendant l'expérience du joueur plus active que jamais. Gestion des villes intelligente et poussée, progression des arbres intelligemment pensée, expansion et spécialisation nécessaire grâce aux quartiers sont autant d’arguments qui renouvellent agréablement l'expérience Civilization, qui n'est aujourd'hui qu'à quelques encablures d'être franchement exceptionnelle. Bien joué, Firaxis.
