Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc es un juego sublime. La historia es apasionante, y nos va a mantener enganchados a la consola durante las cerca de 20 horas que dura. Todo contando con una jugabilidad bastante interesante para ser una «Visual Novel», con unos juicios sencillamente perfectos. Resumiendo, estamos ante una mezcla de Virtue’s Last Reward con los juicios a lo Phoenix Wright (o al menos, eso me han contado, que nunca he probado esta popular saga de Capcom), pero aportando un toque muy personal gracias a su estilo artístico, la trabajada historia y sus únicos personajes. El único impedimento real que tiene el juego es el del idioma, pero si controlais el inglés y os gustan las buenas historias, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc os va a enamorar, dejándonos con unas ganas tremendas de que salga a la venta su secuela, que por suerte, disfrutaremos en apenas unos meses.

Dicen que Japón ha perdido la batalla frente a los desarrolladores occidentales. Juegos como Danganronpa me hacen dudar de ello. Si, es una conversión de PSP, tiene toneladas de texto en inglés, y al principio hasta llega a aburrir un poco, pero si le das una oportunidad, descubrirás una aventura tan grotesca como sorprendente.

Danganronpa : Trigger Happy Havoc fait partie de ces perles vidéoludiques, méconnues du grand public, mais dont les joueurs qui ont eu la chance de le faire ne peuvent pas s'empêcher de s'exclamer "J'ai bien fait d'essayer ce jeu !". C’est ça, l’esprit Danganronpa, un jeu qui à première vue n’a pas l’air d’avoir une identité propre, où tout se mélange de manière disgracieuse, alors qu’en réalité, cette hétérogénéité fonctionne et constitue l’identité du jeu. Danganronpa est un titre à posséder absolument, et vous auriez tort de ne pas lui laisser sa chance si vous maîtrisez l’anglais. Car malgré son étiquette visual novel, un genre encore trop peu répandu en Occident, le jeu possède assez de charme et d’atouts pour attirer un public beaucoup plus large, à l’image de ses procès et de ses personnages hauts en couleur qui ne laisseront personne de marbre. La suite, Danganronpa 2 : Goodbye Despair, déjà sortie au Japon en 2012, est d'ores et déjà annoncée pour l’automne 2014 dans nos contrées. En espérant que Monokuma reviendra plus en forme que jamais pour nous proposer une aventure encore plus palpitante que celle-ci.

Due considerazioni generali e concise concise: se non vi piacciono le visual novel, state perdendo tempo. Se vi piacciono le visual novel ma non capite un'acca di inglese, state perdendo tempo ugualmente. Il punto debole di Danganronpa è proprio il suo genere di appartenenza, il cui campo si restringe ancora di più se si considera la barriera linguistica. L'inglese adottato è scolastico, badate bene, ma è necessario conoscerlo bene e, talvolta, capirlo in fretta. A parte questo dettaglio, Danganronpa è una visual novel longeva, ricca di contenuti e spesso sorprendente, caldamente consigliata agli amanti del genere e a chi cerca un titolo diverso dal solito.

Danganronpa is absolutely worth buying, but only if you’re a gamer who doesn’t mind reading 30 hours worth of dialogue, because this is a visual novel at its most basic level. Sure, it has actual gameplay elements during the trial sections, and these mechanics are implemented extremely well, but even still, the ratio of reading-to-gameplay is easily three-to-one. Danganronpa also takes patience — not just because the length and thousands of text block players will scroll through during their adventure, but because of how much the developers keep players on a tight leash, holding their hand along nearly the entire journey. Still, it’s hard to get too bothered by this as Danganronpa has one hell of a story to tell. It’s exciting and has an uncanny ability to leave its players slack-jawed at the sights of the unraveling plot points. After all, this is a game about a maniacal teddy bear forcing high school students to kill each other; how could it not be good?

Featuring a colourful collection of memorable characters, some sweat-inducing gameplay, and a narrative that has more twists than a Hollyoaks omnibus, Spike Chunsoft's bloody tale of high school life will keep you engrossed from start to finish.
