In Godzilla funzionano solo due cose su dieci, ovvero l’atmosfera che si respira (in pieno stile kaiju-movie) e la quantità di mostroni giapponesi che incontreremo. Per il resto l’operazione godzilliana di Bandai Namco è un fallimento su tutti i versanti, partendo dalla grafica per finire con il sistema di controllo, con la noia delle missioni principali e con l’impressione di giocare all’interno di plastici in miniatura. Se proprio volete vestire i panni del kaiju per eccellenza e avete ancora in casa una Xbox o un GameCube, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee vi darà ben altre soddisfazioni.

Apart from it’s massive roster of Kaiju and an encyclopedia of monsters, Godzilla's poor graphics, uncomfortable controls, and overly repetitive missions make this one of the worst renditions of the King of the Kaiju since he fought Matthew Broderick in Madison Square Garden back in ‘97.

Un quiero y no puedo. Una jugabilidad muy lenta y repetitiva hace que no tengas ganas ni curiosidad por conseguir nuevos Kaijus, que por su variedad son lo único que se salva del título. Quizá lo mejor hubiese sido que no experimentaran y se volvieran a centrar en las peleas entre los monstruos, ya que son los únicos que tienen un nivel de definición decente. El resto recuerda a los primeros juegos para PlayStation 2.

Aunque tiene los ingredientes necesarios para contentar a cualquier seguidor de Godzilla, con destrucción a mansalva, grandes explosiones y montones de monstruos contra los que pelear, Godzilla suspende por culpa de su mediocre sistema de control y la simpleza de sus combates, que pierden la gracia casi en el mismo instante en el que se inician. Hay potencial en esta obra que posee montones de extras por desbloquear, pero creemos que no el suficiente como para recomendar siquiera su compra entre los acérrimos seguidores de las historias kaiju. Una lástima.

It is fun to see the iconic king back in the silver screen to mess around with but if more work was put into this games controls, movement and etc, it would have been the game fitting of a king. Godzilla: The Game gets a 4/10. Maybe next time they will get it right before a kaiju war breaks out. For more gaming goodness, you’ve already clicked on the right site!

Godzilla: The Game è brutto. Brutto come un film di Kaiju degli anni '50, brutto come l'idea di avere una farfalla atomica gigante che lotta con una lucertola ipertrofica alta cento metri. E' proprio quel tipo di bruttezza applicata al mondo dei videogame, enucleata già nel primo livello di gioco e poi ribadita in ciascuno di quelli successivi. C'è un sistema di controllo con cui bisogna costantemente fare a cazzotti, un set di animazioni goffe e impacciate, un look tremendo che rivendica l'origine Old-Gen del prodotto, cali di framerate continui, un concept scarsamente ispirato. E' come se fosse il compendio delle pessime idee di game design. Ma è anche il compendio interattivo dei Kaiju, una sorta di piccola enciclopedia delle strambe mostruosità che la cultura popolare nipponica ha partorito, forse per esorcizzare gli orrori di una guerra atomica. Se - e solo se - siete accorati fan dei buffi lungometraggi d'antan, trovato ad un prezzo abbordabile potrebbe valere l'acquisto, per quello che si configura come un pezzo raro per gli appassionati del trash. Altrimenti, lasciate pure Godzilla nelle profondità dell'oceano, in attesa del prossimo risveglio, cinematografico o videoludico che sia.

It boggles the mind that a good Godzilla game hasn't been produced yet; it's a franchise about a giant lizard destroying things for Pete's sake. Until a studio like Platinum is given the reigns, however, perhaps it's time for the King of Monsters to hang up his size 1000 video game shoes for good. Bandai Namco's stab at the icon is mostly a rehash of a terrible Dreamcast game that does little to distinguish itself to fans. It's clear that the developer's hearts were in the right place; as much content as possible was clearly eked out of the likely meager budget and mindlessly destroying things is fun enough to not feel like a chore. Faint praise, however, as while this could have become a so-bad-it's-good Earth Defense Force type experience, it's instead held back by clunky controls, dated visuals, confined level design and a lack of gameplay variety. There's some fun to be had here, but this use of "some" is coming dangerously close to meaning minutes instead of hours. Perhaps Godzilla will get a decent game by his hundredth anniversary, but this isn't it.

Dès qu'il s'agit de jeux vidéo, la licence Godzilla peine à convaincre. Et ce n'est pas cet épisode qui va déroger à la règle. Entre les graphismes du siècle dernier et les contrôles inconfortables, le vieux dino a raté la marche de la modernité ! Si tout n'est pas à jeter, il reste encore beaucoup de chemin à parcourir pour toucher un public autre qu'une base de fans. Pour un titre proposé à ce tarif, on peut difficilement omettre de signaler ses errances visuelles et son gameplay venu d'un autre temps. C'est mou, c'est lent et vraiment pas passionnant ! Comme un air de déjà-vu...

Die vor zwei Konsolengenerationen erschienenen Prügler rund um die Kultechse haben größtenteils Spaß gemacht. Und sie sahen für damalige Verhältnisse ordentlich aus. Anno 2015 hat Godzilla in Spieleform allerdings kaum etwas zu bieten. Ja: Man kann Städte in Schutt und Asche legen. Und es gibt ein breites Spektrum an freispielbaren Monstern, die in der Tradition der klassischen Filme stehen. Doch die Kampagne ist an Eintönigkeit nicht zu überbieten. Die Steuerung ist ebenso träge wie das allgemeine Spieltempo. Und die Kulisse wirkt bis auf zu wenige Ausnahmen wie ein Überbleibsel aus der Startphase der PlayStation 3. Es gibt Spiele wie Onechanbara oder Earth Defense Force, die mit Trash-Charme kokettieren und einige Schwächen übertünchen können. Doch Godzilla gehört nicht in die Kategorie „So schlecht, dass es schon wieder gut ist“. Es ist tatsächlich einfach nur „So schlecht“.

Godzilla è quanto di peggio ci si può aspettare da un videogioco. Noioso, lento, ripetitivo e per niente ispirato, scarsamente longevo, graficamente plasticoso e tecnicamente risibile, ma soprattutto venduto a 70 euro, cifra del tutto ingiustificata per quanto ha da offrire questo prodotto. Anche qualora siate fan sfegatati fatevi un favore: lasciate perdere e stategli debitamente a distanza.
