OnRush è velocissimo, brutale, sudato, ignorante, potente e soprattutto divertente. È bello da guidare, è bello quando si sfonda tutto, è bello quando si viene sfondati. Il coraggioso tentativo di unire i modi e i ritmi di un FPS online a un gioco di corse ha dato i suoi frutti. Rimangono però dei limiti evidenti al momento: le modalità non sono tantissime, il gioco online non è ancora particolarmente strutturato e in generale le classi tendono ad assomigliarsi fin troppo. C'è comunque sufficiente materiale per iniziare, oggi, a costruire un futuro ancora più esaltante per il gioco di Codemasters.

Onrush is one of the most original driving games I’ve played in years, giving it a unique flavor. By forgetting about simply going faster than everyone else and mixing traditional racing mechanics with modes and subtle nuances typically found in other genres, Onrush managed to change the way I think about racing games. Its unorthodox online car-brawls and varied objectives go out of their way to feel different, and even when the maps become repetitive after a short while, its appeal remains for the simple fact that there’s no other arcade driving game quite like this.

ONRUSH is a fantastically fun game that reminds us why we love to get behind the virtual wheel and boost/takedown our way through the opposition. I may have come over as too negative with those last few remarks though but I absolutely had a lovely time with it and in fact, I’d rather be playing more of it instead of writing this review. I just can’t help but raise the red flag on the few major issues it has. If Codemasters manages to tackle some of these, you can add at least half a point to the score at the end of this review. EDIT: and that’s just what I did; bugfixes combined with listening to community feedback made me up the score to an 8!

Onrush is the finest off-road racer ever made. The core gameplay is fast-paced and does everything that made the Motorstorm series great, but with far more refined controls. Having things like Burnout-style takedowns from a variety of angles keeps you on your toes at all times too. The healthy array of modes keeps things fresh, while the team-based structure to the game means that you can be an essential part of your team’s victory without having to be an all-star. You can carve a bit of a niche out for yourself in different ways and get more out of this game than a traditional racing game. It’s a great-looking and sounding experience and a must-buy for adrenaline junkies with a penchant for off-road mayhem.

Onrush surprend par son originalité, le savoir-faire de Codemasters en matière de jeu de course a permis une alchimie presque improbable entre la conduite arcade et le jeu d’équipe à la sauce Overwatch/MOBA. Un gameplay bourrin et défouloir qui ne manque pas non plus de subtilité avec ses nombreuses classes de véhicules et la coopération qui s’opère entre elles. Le seul gros problème éventuel que l’on pourra noté est le manque de visibilité vers l’avenir car le contenu proposé aujourd’hui est plutôt limite. En tout cas, il possède des bases solides que l’on ne peut que saluer.

ONRUSH è un racing arcade diverso da quello che ci si potrebbe legittimamente aspettare da chi in passato è salito alla ribalta con la serie MotorStorm: l'ultimo nato di casa Codemasters è infatti un gioco di guida a squadre con una corposa componente “di combattimento”, un inno alla velocità tout court e al divertimento arcade tanto spassionato quanto imperfetto. Piacerà moltissimo ad alcuni, risulterà profondamente indigesto ad altri e molto probabilmente verrà colpevolmente ignorato dai più, anche e soprattutto a causa di un prezzo forse poco compatibile con la sua anima anticonformista e sperimentale. In definitiva, non ci troviamo purtroppo al cospetto del titolo atteso da chi è rimasto orfano di un certo tipo di racer alla Burnout, bensì a una bizzarra deriva del genere. Se ne sentiva effettivamente il bisogno? Difficile dirlo, anche se sono comunque da premiare il coraggio e le meccaniche base, perché il modello di guida innegabilmente "c'è".

Onrush è sicuramente un titolo valido, un gioco originale che pesca diverse meccaniche dagli sparatutto più in voga del momento e le miscela sapientemente in un titolo arcade divertente e caciarone. Purtroppo la profondità del gameplay non è così elevata e la modalità single player diventa solo un diversivo, un enorme tutorial dove imparare le basi prima di buttarsi online. Entusiasmante in prima battuta Onrush perde benzina abbastanza in fretta, purtroppo, e difficilmente secondo noi riuscirà a mantenere una community viva e attiva a lungo. Speriamo di essere smentiti e di veder piovere sul titolo tanti e frequenti aggiornamenti contenutistici.

OnRush riporta in auge lo spirito del racing arcade, quest'ultimo arricchito dal buon lavoro compiuto dai ragazzi di Codemasters. Nonostante il gameplay alla lunga potrebbe stancare e il prezzo di lancio è piuttosto proibitivo per i contenuti offerti, il titolo riesce ad offrire una buona dose di adrenalina pronta a scatenarsi in pista contro i nostri avversari.

In conclusione OnRush è un titolo che diverte, che può letteralmente assorbire la nostra attenzione in un tripudio di schianti, incidenti, veicoli accartocciati e fiammate al protossido d’azoto per ore e ore. Nonostante alla fine si tratti di un abile miscela di diversi generi, dal racing arcade più puro a meccaniche mutuate da FPS e addirittura MOBA, il modo in cui Codemasters ha impacchettato questa folle serie di gare è convincente e di sicuro interesse. La ciliegina sulla torta, poi, è il matchmaking online: veloce e stabile e, diciamolo apertamente, dannatamente divertente. Aldilà di qualche difetto, perlopiù veniale, che accompagna il lavoro di Codemasters, OnRush è un racing game di tutto rispetto: veloce, frenetico, adrenalinico e si, innovativo. Non parliamo di un vero e proprio capolavoro, questo no, ma di sicuro si eleva al di sopra della media del genere e, con il suo mix di generi sapientemente dosati e reinventati, si profila come un titolo da tenere d’occhio per il futuro. Burnout, preparati alle sportellate. OnRush sta arrivando a tutta velocità!

Onrush delivers a sense of thrilling arcade action in a way no other game is doing but the awe-inspiring moments of epic proportions quickly become old as they happen so rapidly. There's enjoyment to be had here but not enough to make Onrush feel like something of substance at its asking price. Technically speaking, the game is something quite wonderful and makes for impressive screenshots but that can only carry a game like Onrush so far.

Onrush es un juego divertido y caótico, algo perfecto para un arcade. Sin embargo, su mecha es bastante corta y no tendremos la sensación de que seguir jugando tenga un propósito concreto a no ser que nos encanten las skins y elementos cosméticos con los que subir de nivel para abrir una de sus cajas de botín. Hay prometidas actualizaciones futuras, y no vendría nada mal algún que otro modo extra, ya que solamente Lockdown y Switch parecen ser lo suficientemente entretenidos y variados de una partida a otra como para querer ser jugados durante un buen rato. En líneas generales, por su nulo sistema de progresión (o más bien, solamente basado en elementos cosméticos), a las pocas horas se ha ido la motivación para querer seguir jugando, más allá de la diversión por la diversión, sin fin alguno.

Sin duda la apuesta de Codemasters Evo no ha salido como esperábamos, pero al menos han sabido arriesgar en su propuesta y ofrecer algo diferente en cuanto a carreras de conducción arcade se refiere y sobretodo para que estemos enganchados al multijugador durante noches. Que este juego triunfe depende en gran parte de la comunidad, que le de apoyo y que el juego siga creciendo en contenido. Si os gustó MotorStorm y sus secuelas a buen seguro que también disfrutaréis de Onrush.

Un concept original mais des modes de jeu pas toujours passionnants, de belles sensations souvent noyées dans un océan de confusion, un manque de contenu vite problématique… Onrush réussit à nous amuser mais par intermittence seulement : la formule imaginée par les ex-Evolution Studios fonctionne apparemment sur courant alternatif. Reste quelques bons passages et une légèreté appréciable, qui nous rappellent la lointaine époque des jeux de courses arcade que l’on a tant chéri.
