Más divertido, intenso y con mayores opciones de juego, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II es una notable aventura de acción y rol que destaca por la diversidad de misiones a afrontar, sus amplias opciones de personalización y lo espectacular de su puesta en escena. Su ritmo de la acción es algo irregular y hay aspectos en los que todavía hace falta trabajo, pero en líneas generales, Neocore Games ha sabido mejorar todo lo visto en el original, creando una secuela a la altura de las expectativas.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II est le digne successeur de son aîné. S’appuyant sur une ambiance graphique et sonore de qualité et un gameplay solide, le titre de Neocore convainc une nouvelle fois, même s’il n’innove que très peu. Il constitue donc une alternative plus qu’intéressante et à moindre coût aux ténors du genre et saura ravir les amateurs de hack & slash. Espérons tout de même une prise de risque plus importante de la part des développeurs pour un prochain épisode.

Sulle più che discrete basi dell’impianto tecnico, narrativo e ambientale del primo, sorprendente episodio, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II prova meritoriamente ad ampliarne il respiro, centrando l’obiettivo quasi completamente. Se in termini tattici l’introduzione del nuovo pet Chimera e di skill tree sempre più profondi e ramificati rappresenta una piacevolissima boccata d’aria fresca, suddetto respiro si fa invece un po’ affannoso di fronte a mini-game strategico-gestionali che aggiungono davvero poco all’esperienza di gioco, tranne una sgradevole zaffata d’aleatorietà non necessaria. Speriamo che in Van Helsing III Neocore torni a concentrarsi solo e unicamente sul cuore del gioco, e su quelle sue agili dinamiche da spontaneo GdR action che ci hanno fatto innamorare.

Un anno dopo l'originale, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II si presenta nuovamente come un gioco di ruolo d'azione competente e tutto sommato ben fatto. Un buon acquisto considerando il prezzo di vendita contenuto. L'esperienza ha tutto quello che il genere ha reso imprescindibile, più qualche idea carina che aiuta a smorzare almeno in parte il senso di già visto. Ben scritto e divertente da giocare, riesce anche a farsi apprezzare per una quantità contenutistica sostanziosa e il tasso di difficoltà elevato. Peccato quindi per i limiti tecnici, le magagne del multiplayer e la sensazione generale che forse si sarebbe potuto fare qualcosa in più per poter dire di essere davanti ad un salto in avanti deciso. Ci sarà comunque un terzo capitolo, quindi avremo il piacere di tornare ancora una volta a Borgovia e raccontarvi com'è andata.

Estamos ante un juego cuyo mayor pecado es tener ligeros problemas visuales y un deseo de ofrecer tantas posibilidades que aturden al jugador. Muy cuidado en su parte estética y recrea la atmósfera steampunk perfectamente. Su precio es un factor de mucho peso a la hora de decantarse por él.

Il secondo episodio delle avventure di Van Helsing riprende senza un attimo di respiro la continuity narrativa del precedente capitolo arricchendone la struttura con una buona dose di nuove integrazioni: prima fra tutte l'introduzione di un sistema di classi che, pur non facendo impallidire i pilastri del genere, mette una doverosa pezza ad una delle mancanze più importanti del precedente episodio. La carrellata di novità continua grazie un'inedito sistema di Runecrafting, semplice da padroneggiare ma dalla profondità inaspettata, e una nuova modalità di gestione degli nostri alleati all'interno della Resistenza. Aggiungete a tutto ciò il ritorno della particolare modalità Tower Defense ed avrete di nuovo tra le mani uno dei migliori rapporti qualità/prezzo attualmente disponibili per ogni appassionato di action-RPG. Peccato per i problemi legati alla componente multigiocatore: attualmente, nel caso foste interessati ad acquistare il gioco in compagnia di amici, il nostro consiglio è quello di aspettare e verificare l’evolversi della situazione nelle prossime settimane, dato che per il momento l’online risulta molto instabile.

As a general rule - when your game’s release date is just a year after the first, but you’ve more than doubled the amount of content, you might want to rethink that timeframe. The team has been hard at work on these issues, and there have been frequent updates since release, each nailing down small portions of bugs and balance issues, but it’s hard to make a second first impression. Despite the technical issues, NeocoreGames ultimately delivers more of what we fell in love with in the first Van Helsing title. Hopefully they take a little more time to iron things out to conclude this very compelling trilogy.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II represents a considerable improvement over its predecessor, although its focus consists primarily of augmenting the core action RPG experience rather than changing it. Balance issues and multiplayer bugs remain, but there's enough variety found in its tower defense scenarios and three classes to warrant donning the legendary monster hunter's hat either again or for the very first time.

Van Helsing II isn’t a huge improvement over its predecessor, but it’s certainly starting to show increasing signs of becoming an excellent RPG. Unfortunately, the game is still hindered by some combat issues and a bland story, but the basics are there, we just have to hope the Neocore continue to improve on their IP.
