Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition offers an overwhelming wealth of content through hundreds of hours of campaigns to play through, refined to make them more entertaining. With an improved AI offering more engaging battles (although it still doesn't understand the concept of diplomacy or trade) as well as improved visuals and audio, drawing you right into them, you'll not find yourself bored at all and will no doubt keep returning to the skirmish modes. At a cheap price and offering so much, it's impossible not to recommend the game. This is what the original Age of Empires: Definitive Edition could have been. As a standalone title, it's fantastic and one that I'd recommend to anybody and everybody.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is the champion of the RTS genre we deserve. The title itself may be twenty years old, but that hasn’t stopped this edition from being the best on the market. With aesthetics being painstakingly remastered and restored for modern systems, Age of Empires II has never looked or sounded better. Brand new, never-before-seen content is introduced to make the title more than just a remaster of an old game. New campaigns, new civilization and new modes make this a brand new experience for all kinds of fans. New quality of life updates are a game changer for all modes and even necessary to make the most of the gameplay experience. Enhanced queues, AI and gameplay tactics help players make the most of their play time without it dampening the overall experience. If anything, the quality of life updates should be the title’s main selling point above everything else. Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is more than just a fresh coat of paint on an old title, it’s a complete overhaul of its original to create something new. And while it is still plagued by online issues, most of them have been resolved with updates and continued support by the development team. Whether you’re a new fan looking to get into the series, or a veteran player wanting to revisit a classic title, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is a must-play for any RTS fan.

Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition es la puesta al día de un clásico. No era fácil, pero el estudio Forgotten Empires ha dado en el clavo con muchísimos cambios jugables y muchísimo contenido nuevo. La IA falla en ocasiones y las nuevas voces no contentarán a nadie, pero en conjunto es un grandísimo juego de estrategia en tiempo real.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition è ne più ne meno quello che preannuncia il titolo, ovvero una edizione definitiva che offre il titolo classico di Microsoft del 1999 al suo massimo storico. Per l’edizione speciale del ventennale, infatti, sono stati elevati a massima potenza tutti gli elementi strutturali, da un gameplay classico ma lavorato di fino all’estremo, ad una cura dei particolari che ha del maniacale. Completano l’opera grafica ridisegnata in 4K Ultra HD ed un sonoro rimasterizzato fenomenale. Un degno tributo ad un titolo di culto del passato, pronto a conquistare le nuove generazioni.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition es la edición más completa de la obra y mejor cincelada visualmente. Las horas que le podemos dedicar, otra vez, son infinitas, y a ello se suman nuevas campañas con más misiones y más civilizaciones que probar.

Age of Empires II compie vent'anni e, nonostante non possa avere oggi lo stesso impatto che ebbe allora sul mondo dei videogiochi, la sua formula rimane molto divertente e appagante, e non sono tantissimi i giochi così anziani a potersene vantare. Se le fondamenta gettate da Ensemble Studios sono solidissime, il lavoro di rimasterizzazione è buono e i tanti miglioramenti della Definitive Edition la rendono la migliore versione esistente sul mercato, ma allo stesso tempo si poteva fare qualcosa in più: non mancano alcune imperfezioni e l'impianto tecnico non è impeccabile, ma l'operazione nostalgia può comunque dirsi riuscita.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition brings the 1999 classic into 2019 with admirable grace. The developers manage to introduce very positive changes without radically altering that gameplay which has enthralled legions of fans for decades. Despite some issues, this is an exemplary remastering of a past title.
