Midnight Fight Express tiene un mérito brutal por ser un hecho principalmente por una sola persona. Una idea loca, con una ejecución perfecta. Pese a que su concepto no puede ser más simple, está hecho con un cariño y pasión por el detalle dignas de admirar. Es el juego perfecto para el verano. Para sentirnos como el protagonista de un filme de acción... y todos hemos querido jugar a ser John Wick.

Midnight Fight Express è un picchiaduro molto particolare che segue un po’ tutti gli elementi classici del genere, inclusa la possibilità di raccogliere armi da terra e affrontare tonnellate di avversari contemporaneamente, ma introduce abbastanza nuovi elementi da portare una ventata d’aria fresca di cui forse il genere aveva bisogno. La relativa scarsità di tipi differenti di avversari da affrontare non è sufficiente a rovinare un’esperienza di gioco in realtà adrenalinica e, soprattutto, soddisfacente.

Midnight Fight Express è un brawler adrenalinico che dona una notevole libertà d'approccio al giocatore. Vista la loro breve durata, i livelli si riaffrontano senza pensarci troppo, magari per sfruttare nuove abilità o per ottenere valutazioni migliori. Il plot chiaramente è ridotto all'osso e il profilo tecnico lascia intravedere i limiti della produzione ma siamo comunque di fronte a un prodotto in grado di stuzzicare i fan del genere, senza ombra di dubbio.

While Midnight Fight Express falters when it comes to keeping things fresh, there’s still enough of a nicely-twisted plot, impressive levels with great action setpieces, and a terrific techno soundtrack that goes alongside the fast-paced combat to keep things enjoyable overall. Beat-’em-up and/or fighting game enthusiasts and speedrunners will probably get the most satisfaction out of the game, but there’s still enough here for anyone that’s worthy of giving things a whirl.

I problemi principali di Midnight Fight Express sono essenzialmente due, ossia che la bontà del sistema di gioco finisce per essere penalizzata da alcune scelte di design, che rovinano alcuni momenti dell'esperienza, e che il sistema di combattimento in alcuni frangenti non sembra reggere le ambizioni del titolo. Non rimpiangiamo di essere arrivati alla fine, ma non possiamo dire di avere condiviso chissà quale esperienza sconvolgente con Babyface e il suo amico drone, anche a causa di una storia non proprio scritta benissimo. Certo, il sangue c'è, molte frattaglie della cultura undeground ci sono, ma alla fine sembra davvero di trovarsi di fronte a un miscuglio insapore, che lascia un po' il tempo che trova.
