A fun but not relaxing trip to the fancy parts of L.A, Dead Island 2 is a major improvement over the previous franchise entries, with accurate goriness for the player's situation.

Dead Island 2 is a gory adventure that offers up plenty of mindless mayhem for zombie slayers. The remnants of California make for a great playground to dismember and destroy the walking dead in every conceivable way the game presents. The beautiful, sunny environments provide a stark contrast to the reanimated rotting carcasses. But as fun as the combat can be towards the end of the story, the missions began to feel as fresh as the enemies’ flesh as the repetitive nature of the quests turn them into chores in the final hours. Unremarkable story and repetitive gameplay aside, what Dead Island 2 does well it does very well, and despite these shortcomings, killing thousands of zombies with everything the game puts at the player’s disposal can still be a great time.

Minecraft Legends is an engaging strategy game that does a great job streamlining a notoriously complex genre without sacrificing the ever-important element of choice and consequence. That said, some genre staples like assigning custom groups of units are casualties of this simplification, which is too bad because it does limit your strategic options a bit in the heat of battle. But Legends uses other recognizable elements like its worker unit Allays to great effect, and it nails the iconic Minecraft aesthetic with some of the best looking blocks around. The difficulty curve does have the potential to make the late game frustrating, but stellar cooperative and PVP play still make this RTS very worthwhile.

Une note qui peut paraitre sévère compte tenu des qualités de Mount & Blade: Warband, mais il nous faut aussi juger du portage et il est clair que sur ce point, le jeu n’est pas à son avantage. Vieux de six ans, on aurait aimé un moteur graphique quelque peu retouché, une interface revue et surtout remodelée pour la manette, ainsi que quelques ajustements de gameplay, notamment au niveau du système d’ordres en combat, qui nous aura donné des maux de tête plus d’une fois. Techniquement, s’il parvient à atteindre les 60 FPS, on a en contrepartie droit à de nombreux bugs venant amoindrir la qualité de l’expérience de jeu. Alors oui, Mount & Blade: Warband est original, ambitieux, épique et exigeant, mais si vous avez un PC correct, nous ne pouvons que vous conseiller de l’acquérir sur ce support, surtout que les mods viennent aussi ajouter une certaine plus-value. Si vous êtes au contraire dans l’incapacité de le faire tourner sur votre machine et si vous êtes prêt à accepter les divers soucis énumérés plus haut, vous pouvez foncer les yeux fermés, surtout pour le prix affiché. Mount & Blade: Warband reste un excellent jeu sur lequel vous risquez de perdre un peu de votre vie sociale si vous prenez la peine de vous plonger dedans, c’est tout le mal que l’on vous souhaite.

Blackbird se mueve fenomenal en un terreno complicado porque Minecraft Legends como RTS puro no habría atinado tanto. Aquí el juego es un mercenario del género. Se queda para sí mismo lo que funciona y los conceptos básicos, mientras desecha lo complejo y tedioso del género. Entiendo que puedas pensar que Minecraft Legends no es para ti si eres un usuario capaz de las mayores experiencias de estrategia del mercado reciente y pasado, pero dale una oportunidad. Aunque, quizá lo que más importa al final del día es que está en Game Pass, y no solo será la vía de entrada al juego, sino que el propio Legends es la vía de entrada al género.

Ne vous y trompez pas, Mount & Blade : Warband est un très bon jeu. Grâce à son principe bac à sable médiéval réaliste et une grande liberté dans vos actions, vous trouverez ici quelque chose d'unique. Son mode multi est un vrai plaisir et offre une expérience complète et longue. Nous vous conseillons tout de même de favoriser la version PC car ce portage sur console est fainéant. En plus d'être franchement daté techniquement, la jouabilité à la manette, l'ergonomie des menus et les temps de chargement répétitifs montrent le peu d'investissement fait sur cette adaptation. Et que dire de l'absence d'une des forces majeurs du titre : ses nombreux mods !

MLB The Show 23 non presenta molte novità rispetto al predecessore, neanche sotto il profilo tecnico, dove ancora una volta ci troviamo di fronte ad un titolo della scorsa generazione. L'aspetto più interessante è sicuramente l'introduzione della modalità Storylines e la revisione della modalità Diamond Dynasty, che da sole potrebbero giustificare l'acquisto per gli appassionati; per il resto, l'appuntamento con novità più corpose è rimandato alle prossime edizioni.

Not For Broadcast is unlike anything I’ve played before. The tv-editing simulator gameplay presses all the right buttons, keeping you engaged in a well-written story packed with humor. The writing really clicks with many elements, riffing on real-world events over the past few years. I don’t know how well the story will age, but the gameplay is so unique that I have no doubt it will stand the test of time. I give Not For Broadcast my full recommendation. I know some of the games I get behind can be somewhat niche and might not be for everyone, but I really believe Not For Broadcast has mass appeal, scoring high in all demographics.

Terra Nil è sicuramente un gioco particolare, da consigliare più ai patiti di puzzle game complessi che a chi è in cerca di un vero e proprio gioco gestionale. Imparare a intrecciare gli effetti dei vari strumenti può essere appagante anche se in diversi scenari il loro utilizzo risulta un po' troppo prefissato. I livelli avanzati rappresentano una sfida interessante (e a tratti imprevedibile), peccato per una longevità piuttosto ridotta, comunque in parte compensata dalla generazione casuale delle aree. Consigliato se cercate un'esperienza gestionale "soft" con un tasso di sfida tendente al basso.

Non possiamo che raccomandare l'ennesima raccolta firmata Capcom, anche se stavolta non senza qualche asterisco: da amanti del robottino blu e dei giochi di ruolo in generale, abbiamo avvertito una certa stanchezza nel giocare i titoli l'uno di seguito all'altro, a causa dell'eccessiva somiglianza che li accomuna. La modalità ideale per fruire di questi sei giochi, allora, è non solo sullo schermo di Switch in modalità portatile – così da accorgersi meno dei vent'anni intercorsi dalla prima pubblicazione – ma anche inframezzando ad essi anche altri titoli, così da diluire l'esperienza e godersene di più i lati migliori; lati migliori che, come all'epoca del debutto, risiedono nel combat system e nella riuscita commistione di diversi generi videoludici. Se ricordate con piacere i pomeriggi passati con uno dei titoli, insomma, è molto probabile che vi piacciano anche gli altri, e che quindi questa raccolta possa rappresentare un punto d'incontro ben riuscito tra conservazione e nostalgia.

Process of Elimination aurait pu devenir un incontournable, un visual novel d’enquête agrémenté de tactique aurait été vraiment intéressant. Malheureusement, la longueur des échanges tue littéralement le rythme et ne donne au final qu’un jeu qui ne vous tiendra en haleine que sur peu de temps. De plus, étant traduit dans un Anglais assez poussé, si vous n’êtes pas adepte du genre Visual Novel ni de la langue de Shakespeare. Il nous sera difficile de vous le conseiller en l’état.
