Pas de chichi, pas de blabla, Microids et Ocellus Studio vont droit au but avec Les Schtroumpfs: L’épopée des rêves. Le platformer s’en sort admirablement bien dans la plupart des choses qu’il nous présente, bien que l’on notera des niveaux clairement en dessous de ce que l’on serait en droit d’attendre. On regrette également l’absence totale de dialogues avec des musiques et onomatopées qui reviennent trop souvent, c’est dommage. Reste une aventure sympathique à suivre, pleine d’idées et de boucles de gameplay différentes, adaptée aux plus jeunes comme aux plus expérimentés, seul ou à deux, et plutôt jolie à l’œil (sur consoles de nouvelle génération en tout cas). Bref, Ocellus Studio semble avoir trouvé une formule qui marche, après deux épisodes plus narratifs qui frôlaient la cataschtroumpf, et ce n’est pas pour nous déplaire ! Attention cependant à Microids de ne pas trop prendre la confiance, l’éditeur nous ayant habitué à souffler un coup le chaud un coup le froid ces dernières années.

Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town is a beautiful-looking, cosy, and laid-back casual game with enough adventure elements to keep you hooked for hours. The game evokes nostalgia, reminding you of childhood trips to your grandparents’ village, where you’d spend time exploring and soaking in the simplicity of village life. Despite its relaxed pace, the game has an extensive story, with a collection and exploration-based gameplay that is made for a specific audience who don’t mind a repeating gameplay loop. I believe it’s best enjoyed in short bursts, rather than playing through it all at once.

L'Épopée des rêves de nos amis les Schtroumpfs ne vire pas au cauchemar grâce à sa plastique avenante, à sa maniabilité adaptée et à ses phases de jeu qui ne prennent tellement aucun risque qu’elles ne peuvent mécaniquement pas sombrer. Il n’empêche qu’avec seulement quatre vrais univers distincts à visiter et des défis répétitifs qui se multiplient comme des champignons, le titre de Microids est à l’image de ses petits héros empoisonnés : engourdi. Il est un platformer 3D destiné aux plus jeunes somme toute correct, qui, à l’instar de nombreux rêves, est oublié dès que l’on arrive à son terme.

SINce Memories: Off The Starry Sky is a heartfelt visual novel blending emotional character dynamics with an intriguing mystery. While its standalone accessibility and nostalgic presentation shine, inconsistent heroine routes, localization errors, and awkward voice acting hold it back from true greatness. A solid entry point for newcomers to the Memories Off series.

Fear the Spotlight regala agli appassionati di film e videogiochi dell'orrore cinque ore piacevoli (forse fin troppo visto che parliamo di un horror) da spendere in una storia semplice, capace di rileggere i classici, con delle trovate visive interessanti e una progressione magnifica. Anche l'estetica è perfettamente a metà tra il ricordo dei titoli PlayStation e una resa moderna. Il suo romanticismo di fondo, e una dinamica degli scontri non proprio a fuoco, gli impedisce di far davvero paura, ma riesce a toccare tematiche fastidiose e a inquietare con qualche immagine azzeccata. È la prima produzione di un progetto ambizioso che è anche una ventata d'aria fresca nel panorama dei videogiochi indipendenti, e non vediamo l'ora di scoprire gli altri titoli che compongono la visione di Blumhouse Games. Questa, intanto, è una storia a lieto fine.

Ma soprattutto, il titolo di Dark Pigeon Games arriva sul mercato con un timing perfetto. Oggi, non è solo un'avventura di fantascienza, ma una meditazione profonda su libertà, identità e sul significato dell'umanità in un periodo dove il confine tra reale e artificiale si sta assottigliando sempre più, in cui il confine sta diventando sempre più labile. The Lake House DLC is another spectacular and spooky slice of Alan Wake II action. It introduces some fantastic new supporting characters to the Remedy Connected Universe, as well as a terrifying new enemy type to overcome and some wonderfully eerie environments to explore. The challenge of its puzzles may be light, but its combat is still chillingly dark even despite the fact it’s not hugely different from that of the main game, and scouring for the many notes, videos, and audio recordings littered throughout its fear-inducing facility made for a genuinely gripping investigation. Funny, frightening, and full of surprises, The Lake House DLC is a tightly paced slice of psychological horror that serves as an absorbing addendum to Alan Wake II.

Awaken - Astral Blade delivers flashes of promise with its boss battles and combat mechanics but ultimately suffers from repetitive enemies, lackluster exploration, and a weak narrative. While the game has its moments, it fails to reach the heights of other China Hero Project titles.

With its great atmosphere and tight story pacing, Alan Wake 2: The Lake House retains the same elements that made the base game so engaging. The lack of significant new mechanics and its very short length, however, make it a worthwhile purchase only for the most die-hard fans of Alan Wake 2 and the Remedy Connected Universe.

Setting a Metroidvania-style platforming adventure against a backdrop of building-razing beasts is certainly an intriguing idea, but unlike its towering cast of kaiju cameos, Kong: Survivor Instinct itself simply doesn’t measure up. Its story and characters are underwritten, its ravaged urban playground is eye-catching but not particularly surprising to explore, and its combat fails to evolve enough to keep the fights interesting over the course of the journey. The occasional room-rocking escape sequences do literally shake things up, but they’re few and far between and only distract from the otherwise uncomplicated platforming for short bursts at a time. Kong and his kind may hail from an alternate world hidden deep inside the Earth’s core, but the actual gameplay of Kong: Survivor Instinct is strictly one-dimensional.
