Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town brings the mischievous charm of the beloved 5-year-old protagonist to life in a cozy adventure. Rogue Flight is a bold take on the shmup genre, blending classic high-intensity space shooter gameplay with a narrative that raises the stakes for every mission. Players will pilot the Arrow, a powerful yet occasionally hard-to-control ship, through challenging stages that feature branching paths, customizable upgrades, and relentless enemy swarms. Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven è un gioco di ruolo a turni di grande complessità, ma grazie a una serie di ragionevoli aggiunte, si offre come un ottimo punto di partenza per chiunque fosse interessato a rivolgersici. La sua struttura non lineare, e l'unicità delle sue meccaniche lo rendono appetibile ad appassionati e curiosi in egual maniera, pur dovendo chiudere un occhio su valori di produzione sicuramente non tra i più alti e un afflato narrativo che non si schioda dai più classici possibili.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a bit of an underwhelming RPG that has some unique gameplay mechanics. The open-ended world narrative structure feels freeing, but the characters are boring. The glimmer mechanic is fun, but the battle system lacks a strategic hook. Each of its gameplay systems is a double-edged sword, as we’d find a particular aspect enticing while another was baffling. It feels like a slight step back from the other recent SaGa games, but if you’re a fan of the series, Revenge of the Seven might resonate with you more than it did with us.

Già autore dell’apprezzato remake di Trials of Mana, lo studio Xeen ha sottoposto Romancing SaGa 2 a un lavoro di ringiovanimento mirato e limitato quasi esclusivamente alla componente tecnica, apportando giusto un paio di accorgimenti al gameplay e all’intreccio. Nel complesso il risultato finale è più che soddisfacente, tuttavia questa poteva e doveva essere l’occasione propizia per arricchire la caratterizzazione dei personaggi, che oggi come allora continuano a non essere sufficientemente curati. Se da una parte ne suggeriamo il recupero a tutti gli amanti del genere e a chiunque non si sia ancora cimentato con l’Inheritance System, meccanica sempre sfiziosa e davvero unica nel suo genere, dall’altra siamo ben consci che l’assenza della localizzazione dei testi in italiano potrebbe dare più di qualche grattacapo a non fruitori dell’inglese.

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead è un esperienza piuttosto immersiva e adrenalinica e sebbene non sia un capolavoro del genere horror, è comunque molto interessante, cosa difficile ormai da rinvenire anche in produzioni decisamente dal budget più elevato. Alcuni elementi non ci sono piaciuti tantissimo, come la ristrettezza di alcune aree che ci hanno dato più di qualche grattacapo per essere superate o i bug e i glitch nei quali – purtroppo – siamo incappati in più di una occasione. Ma a parte questo, ci sentiamo di consigliarla a chiunque sia alla ricerca di un’avventura horror post apocalittica, dalla durata giusta (circa sei ore), da un livello di sfida – al netto delle problematiche succitate – bilanciato e dal prezzo basso (29,99 €).

Square Enix e Xeen sono riusciti a proporre con dignità quello che a conti fatti è uno dei JRPG più strani, affascinanti e soprattutto sconosciuti della sua era. Intendiamoci, la parte più interessante è propria la narrativa non lineare, mentre gli altri aspetti sono assolutamente nella media. Ciò che purtroppo non contribuisce a portare in auge il prodotto di base - e quindi nemmeno questo remake - è la pletora di personaggi piuttosto piatti che il titolo per forza di cose offre. C'è comunque tanto da giocare, scoprire, esplorare e non possiamo sicuramente non consigliare questo remake a chiunque sia in cerca di un pezzetto di storia nascosta del genere, quegli esponenti che non sapevate esistessero ma che, a modo loro, hanno ancora qualche idea carina da trasmettere... tutto rigorosamente in inglese.

Pas de chichi, pas de blabla, Microids et Ocellus Studio vont droit au but avec Les Schtroumpfs: L’épopée des rêves. Le platformer s’en sort admirablement bien dans la plupart des choses qu’il nous présente, bien que l’on notera des niveaux clairement en dessous de ce que l’on serait en droit d’attendre. On regrette également l’absence totale de dialogues avec des musiques et onomatopées qui reviennent trop souvent, c’est dommage. Reste une aventure sympathique à suivre, pleine d’idées et de boucles de gameplay différentes, adaptée aux plus jeunes comme aux plus expérimentés, seul ou à deux, et plutôt jolie à l’œil (sur consoles de nouvelle génération en tout cas). Bref, Ocellus Studio semble avoir trouvé une formule qui marche, après deux épisodes plus narratifs qui frôlaient la cataschtroumpf, et ce n’est pas pour nous déplaire ! Attention cependant à Microids de ne pas trop prendre la confiance, l’éditeur nous ayant habitué à souffler un coup le chaud un coup le froid ces dernières années.

Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town is a beautiful-looking, cosy, and laid-back casual game with enough adventure elements to keep you hooked for hours. The game evokes nostalgia, reminding you of childhood trips to your grandparents’ village, where you’d spend time exploring and soaking in the simplicity of village life. Despite its relaxed pace, the game has an extensive story, with a collection and exploration-based gameplay that is made for a specific audience who don’t mind a repeating gameplay loop. I believe it’s best enjoyed in short bursts, rather than playing through it all at once.
