Wasteland 2: Directors Cut brings the series to consoles for the first time with the definitive version that proves classic style gameplay still has some life in this rapidly evolving genre.

Harmonix has brought the music genre back from the dead with a solid experience in Rock Band 4. All the fun you had with the series is back, with a few extra parts missing this time around. Nothing is particularly new here though, so if you haven't been yearning for the good old days, you might want to wait to see how this new platform develops.

Skylanders may have more competition in the toys-to-life space than ever, but the series is showing no signs of slowing down. The figures required for the full experience is much lower in Skylanders Superchargers thankfully, though the racing portions do take a hit in that department. The story is still not the most compelling, but the addition of vehicle-based gameplay sections has kicked the series into overdrive with Skylanders Superchargers.

NBA Live 16 makes a number of well implemented adjustments to the gameplay, but the lack of completely new game modes, or even major additions to the existing ones, prevent NBA Live 16 from being a real slam dunk.

With intelligent story telling and beautiful imagery, SOMA pushes the boundaries of traditional survival horror in new, psychologically thrilling ways. PS4 framerate issues may cause minor frustration during critical moments, but any console-limited fans of this niche genre are urged to give it a shot, regardless.

There’s always something new to do in Disgaea 5: a new strategy to adopt, new characters to recruit, new worlds to find, rare items to collect, and an army to grow. You’ll die, even struggle in some instances, but setbacks can always be overcome in a variety of ways. It has its problems, but Disgaea 5 is a fun adventure, one I’m glad I played.

While an annual franchise, EA Sports has been very good about making each FIFA release worth buying and that is once again the case with FIFA 16. There are no absolute game changers in the gameplay, but there is just enough to make the gameplay more authentic than ever. Building off an already great game last year, the addition of Women’s National Teams, albeit limited in use, as well as the new FUT Draft easily make FIFA 16 yet another entry in this long running series that should not be passed.

After almost a trial year in its debut on current-gen consoles last year, EA Canada has provided gamers with a much more polished and complete product in NHL 16. The gameplay improvements, albeit far from dramatic, do help to enhance the in-game experience quite a bit. While some game modes still feel like they are living in the past, the return of fan-favorites like EASHL and the improved Be A Pro make NHL 16 a power play that hockey fans are bound to love.

Tons of unlockables, fantastic visuals, a catchy, upbeat soundtrack, and unique gameplay combine to form a gaming experience like few others. If you have a friend who is into couch co-op and can be at the ready to play Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime at a moments notice, then the game will certainly be a favorite. However, for those that have a more solitary gaming experience, the lack of an online multiplayer component could be a deal breaker.

Forza Motorsport 6 sets a new bar in terms of visuals for a console racer. A more player-friendly progression system in single player and new online components compliment the massive track and car list.

Local party multiplayer has definitely taken a hit in recent years, but games like Runbow prove that they very much still have a place in today’s gaming realm. Offering a splendid amount of content in one package that can be enjoyed in both single and multiplayer, the colorful Runbow easily deserves a spot in the party game lineup for any Wii U owner.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain exceeds even the wildest expectations of what is possible for a sandbox stealth title. While it deviates slightly from what we’ve come to understand a Metal Gear title to be, The Phantom Pain’s new additions make up for it in spades to sit atop the heap as the best Metal Gear game in the series.

Mad Max does a whole lot of things right. The vehicular combat will easily satisfy a ton of people, with its bombastic action hitting all the right notes from the movies. The world, its characters, and the overall atmosphere are all spot on, presenting a true Mad Max experience from top to bottom. However, the liberal use of tired open-world and fighting mechanics can easily put a damper on the overall feel of the game. Still, for those who want a great Mad Max game, this is it.

Some pacing issues and a lack of memorable characters prevent Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls from attaining the lofty heights set by its predecessors, but it’s still an adventure that’s well worth taking.
