Ultimately, Magicka 2 fails to adequately build on its first outing. It feels more like an expansion to the original Magicka, or an unusually faithful remake. First-time players and Playstation 4 owners will find plenty to love about Magicka 2. It’s as funny and irreverent as ever. Anybody with a PC, however, is better off buying the original game.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood pays homage to Return to Castle Wolfenstein in some really neat ways that fans of the long-running franchise will appreciate. Machine Games does it while keeping their own additions to the series front and center. While you don’t have to have played Wolfenstein: The New Order to enjoy this prequel, you’ll likely be itching for more if you haven’t.

Fairly superficial gameplay and recycled ideas hamper Chroma Squad. The game is saved, however, by tongue-in-cheek writing and an excellent premise. Chroma Squad definitely won’t set the pond on fire but is still enjoyable.

State of Decay’s visual presentation is the most dated that we’ve seen on the Xbox One. Calling this a remaster seems a little disingenuous, as there are so many glaring issues that constantly take away from the experience and overshadow the interesting gameplay ideas. State of Decay: Year One Edition can be a lot of fun for those that can forgive its shortcomings, but those shortcomings are many.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles starts out with a lot of promise and it’s certainly a change of pace for the series. Stripping out the open world elements of the previous games and letting players focus on the fun parts of being an Assassin is an interesting premise. Though without a better story, and the game ending before you can really ever test your mettle, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles feels lackluster.

Titan Souls strips out all of the bloat of contemporary action games, and boils things down to what should be the best bits. Though it might be a little too condensed for its own good. There’s very little sense of satisfaction and reward for completing what can be tedious trial and error boss encounters. You never quite feel like you are building towards anything meaningful in either story or character progression.

Grand Theft Auto V took a long time to get to where it is, but anyone that plays the game today should see why. The world is massive, the characters and story are entertaining, the gameplay is fun, and, with the latest in PC gaming hardware, the graphics are phenomenal. Having to wait so long for it to come out certainly raised expectations, but GTA V has met and exceeded them in every category. Any minor issues one might have with the game are easily drown out by the sheer amount of fun and engaging content on display and the immense improvements made for this version. In short, Grand Theft Auto V on PC is simply the best way to play the game that has continued to impress players for over a year.

MLB 15: The Show manages to both look and play better than ever, but still somehow feels disappointing due to a lack of innovation. The gameplay continues to shine as always, with the inclusion of licensed equipment for the first time in the series making it all the most realistic. Choosing to make much of the game revolve around Diamond Dynasty was a wise decision, though the game itself feels mostly like a roster update than anything else. MLB 15: The Show is a must purchase for anyone that is a diehard baseball fan and wants to experience the 2015 season, but if you were only planning on buying it for brand new features, you might want to wait until next year.

Xenoblade Chronicles captured the hearts of JRPG fans back on the Wii and this port to Nintendo’s latest handheld revision proves exactly why, largely due to the likeable protagonists and very well crafted story. Featuring one of the most innovative gameplay systems in recent RPG history, albeit a little too complex at times, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D can easily provide gamers with over 100 hours of solid gameplay and serves as an excellent companion for any New Nintendo 3DS owner.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is a mixed bag of survival horror and action gameplay that is enjoyable to play, but never hits the level of greatness that the series used to be known for. The episodic structure is an intriguing experiment, but its reliance on repeated locations will tire most players. In the end, you’re still running around blowing away giant mutated monsters though, so if that is appealing to you then it is worth a look.

Battlefield: Hardline is a lateral move for the series. Despite getting the solo mode treatment from someone with more experience in Visceral Games, Hardline’s campaign comes off as merely passable. Multiplayer is where the meat is though, and that’s always been the case. Battlefield multiplayer games are fun when they work, Hardline appears to be working… for now. That said, if you like Battlefield games, Hardline is isn’t a hard sell. It’s more maps and modes in a familiar gameplay structure, fine tuned as a faster game. If you already know Battlefield isn’t your thing, Hardline isn’t likely going to sway you with small changes.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number lives up to original in a number of ways, even outpacing it in terms of stylistic violence. With a story that's all over the map, and constraints often placed on the player, Hotline Miami 2 takes away some of the fun from the original game -- just not all of it.

Ori and the Blind Forest rivals the very best games in terms of presentation and controls. It offers a challenging path for you to follow on this touching emotional journey. So good, so beautiful, you can’t help but want more reasons to play.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars is yet another quality entry in the long running Mario vs. Donkey Kong series. Full of innovative and unique puzzles that make great use of the touchscreen on the Wii U GamePad and 3DS, Nintendo definitely made a wise choice for their first cross-buy title. Complete with the ability to create and share stages online, the possibilities are near endless in Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars, making it a must buy for any puzzle fans on either platform.
