Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is right up there with the best games in the series. Building a game entirely around the sea based features found in ACIII sounded gimmicky when it was announced earlier this year, but Ubisoft nailed it on all fronts

Dead Rising 3 is easily the best exclusive launch title for the Xbox One. It manages to do something that other zombie games haven't, and that's actually convey a sense of an overwhelming threat. It's dumb fun, but it's fun nonetheless.

Colonial Marines is ultimately a disappointingly bland shooter, and this can be attributed to its lack of variety in the gameplay. It's authentic for sure, but feels as dated as the movie at this point.

Quantum Conundrum takes alot of the core features of Portal and builds off of them in thoughtful ways, it just doesn't quite hit the same marks in the story telling department however. There are plenty of puzzles to engage your gamer brain throughout the 6-7 hour campaign, and there's a bit of replay value thrown in with the ability to go back and collect hidden items.

Despite leaving the Black Ops and Modern Warfare names behind, this is not a huge departure from what those games are. In fact, Infinity Ward takes all of best parts of this generation’s previous offerings and crams them back into Call of Duty: Ghosts, while also leaving some features on the cutting room floor. The solid foundation for multiplayer and single player isn’t going to disappoint Call of Duty fans, but it’s also not going to surprise them with anything revolutionary. If you’ve been playing previous Call of Duty games, you’ve been down this path before. The PlayStation 4 version is a near carbon copy of its sibling on the PS3. For those that will be satisfied with more of the same from Call of Duty: Ghosts with slightly better visuals, Ghosts won’t likely disappoint you. For those that the game hasn’t left behind over the years, Ghosts is the most complete game in the series. Multiplayer is still rock-solid, aside from the ocassional frame rate hiccup on the PS4. There are numerous cooperative modes to tackle with friends. And the progression system is by far the deepest that we’ve seen in the course of the series. Single player mileage will vary, but there’s no arguing that Infinity Ward puts on a show with their latest campaign. Expect more from Call of Duty: Ghosts in the future, this is the first chapter of the next-generation of Call of Duty games.

On one hand, NBA 2K14 on PS4 is one of the best looking sports games ever made. On the other, it's a barebones experience when compared to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

If you’ve come to love Call of Duty over the years, this game delivers what you are accustomed to. If you’ve been put off by it in the past, Ghosts probably isn’t going to reel you back in.

The console versions of Battlefield 4 are held back on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but are still a hell of a lot of fun to play. If you’re looking for a great online shooter experience, Battlefield 4 is a can’t miss for 2013.

You aren’t missing much if you played the original two games, and skip this one. Other than some flashes of previous Lost Planet games for brief moments, this feels very little like its predecessors.

Progress between previous games and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is measured in inches and not in yards. Fans with allegiance to the Naruto franchise already, will find that this is probably the best game in the series, if only a slight iteration from previous games.

It'll always be hard for Crytek to capture the magic from the original game, but Crysis 3 is close on many fronts. More freedom in single player, more options in multiplayer, Crysis 3 feels like the most complete game in the franchise.

The Dead Space franchise gets further and further away from its roots by trading in tension for action. Dead Space 3 will leave long-time fans bewildered, while offering the spectacle that will appeal to a wider audience.

The Amazing Spider-Man is a huge leap from Edge of Time, and hopefully a sign that there are even better things coming for the Spider-Man franchise. If you enjoyed the movie, you'll really get a kick out of the extended narrative.
