So Chase H.Q., while built on a solid concept of hunting down escaping criminals in high speed pursuits, just ends up as an average game at best. It’s held back by its restrictive arcade timing, its often frustrating control and the fact that the whole thing can be played through in less than the time it takes to even get past the opening cutscenes in many other games. Oh well. At least the Turbo’s back. And we can put up with a game like this if it means that there’s a renewed chance of still seeing some of Hudson’s best past classics that haven’t yet come to the VC.

PixelJunk Eden is a unique title, one that brings a breath of fresh air to the PlayStation Network. If you give it time, it'll grab you and keep you coming back for just one more Spectra, time and time again. It's not a game for everyone, but people who are looking for something different than just another first-person shooter should definitely download this one.

1 vs. 100 could make for a good videogame, but this is not that game. The questions repeat often, there is no sense of accomplishment, and the multiplayer is very limited. Granted, the game is being sold at a budget price, but there are better quiz games out there. Avoid this one unless you absolutely need to place a CG Bob Saget in your hands.

All in all then, there are a lot of ifs and buts in attempting to summon any kind of recommendation for Doodle Hex. It certainly offers an admirably creative and exceptionally well-implemented use of the DS touch screen and that level of high-quality execution extends right through its tightly-focussed – if sometimes unwieldy - core mechanics. Despite its often derivative aesthetic sensibilities, Doodle Hex is undoubtedly unique in concept and it's one that has the capacity to captivate a certain type of player. Succumb to its infectiously deliberate pace and there's plenty to uncover in Doodle Hex. However, if it's immediate gratification you're after, with the minimum of endeavour, then there's perhaps just a bit too much here to suit your fancy.

Despite the aforementioned concerns, Soulcalibur IV is a lot of fun and I highly recommend it, especially -- as I said before -- to fans of the series. The game runs well, looks beautiful, sports great music and obviously has enjoyable combat. The PS3 and 360 versions are just about identical (barring the differing guest characters), though I felt that the optional install on the PS3 made things feel even quicker and more polished. In the end, both are worthy members of a long-standing series and you won't be disappointed with the purchase. Now get that soul burning.

Fans of arcade shooters like Galaga should be the first to consider the 500 Wii Point investment that it would take to download Donkey Kong 3, as, though it’s part of the original DK series, it plays more similarly to the alien-invading blaster designs of the early ‘80s. This VC download is also a more compelling digital purchase than the Virtual Console versions of the first Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr., as well, because it’s a more replayable design and didn’t lose any content in its transition from the arcade to the NES.

Wall-E falls into that unfortunate category of weak film to game adaptation. With tons of visual issues, a horrible camera and gameplay that isn't particularly striking or innovative, Wall-E does a disservice to the little robot that falls in love. It's even worse on the Wii, where the graphical problems makes this title look terrible and saps any enthusiasm you might have for the game. Kids that are fans of the movie will probably enjoy it for an hour or two, but that feeling will quickly wear off as frustration, boredom and annoyance sets in. This may be an instance where you wait for the DVD, or go see the movie again instead.

Though every system out their will get their shot at the cut little robot, The Nintendo DS version of WALL-E stands on its own – it's a fun little puzzle game that matches the simplistic charm of Pixar's metallic critter. There's nothing bold or original in this package, it's just a solid licensed game that's fun for short pick-up-and-play spurts.

If you missed out on the Neo Geo and you want to experience some nostalgic goodness, this compilation works well. At the end of the day, you're looking at a very simple compilation that's offering several games already available on Virtual Console. But when you do the math, you're only paying two bucks a game if you buy Arcade Classics, which is technically saving you five to six dollars compared to buying them separately through Nintendo's service. As simple as it is, SNK Arcade Classics is a solid collection and is especially appetizing if you haven't already purchased a bunch of individual Neo Geo games.
