M.A.C.H.'s not a bad game, but it's far from a completed title. Although the gameplay is fun and the controls are easy to master, the fact that you can play the game for half an hour and see just about everything possible makes M.A.C.H. an experience you don't need to plunk your hard-earned money down to purchase.

I have to admit, I am somewhat addicted to the Marvel Trading Card Game. It's not a great game by any measure, but it does an excellent job of tapping into the collector's mentality of comic-book fans. Upper Deck's Vs. system is inferior to Magic, Munchkin and Pokemon, but is still enjoyable. The fact that it taps into so much of Marvel's mythology may be reason enough for Marvelites to give this a try. Just be warned that the game is far less than it could have been due to weak visuals, repetitive sounds and a story mode that is too long for its own good. MTCG isn't as enjoyable as its tabletop counterpart, but it has proven to be a nice distraction that, for some intangible reason, keeps drawing me back.

It's nice to see a sports franchise build upon the previous year's gains with some new solid game features. Whereas MLB '06 came across as a basic correction of buggy franchise play, MLB '07 actually tries to push the series and the sport further ahead particularly thanks to its Road to the Show career mode, redesigned pitching system and online options. Look no further, because The Show has gone back to back for the crown of the best baseball game around.

Surprisingly, Konami's licensed TV game, which rips off Nintendo's Smash Bros. wholesale, does a good job of replicating it. Unlike Activision's Shrek, which also "borrows" Nintendo's game, Xiaolin Showdown content matches the game style it takes, so it's a good combination. Aside from a lack of originality, repetitive levels, and a dull-as doornails storyline and dialog, BottleRocket's game is a relatively solid little game that will satiate your lust for button-mashing brawling. Also, the one- to four-player, non-online gameplay poses a certain simplistic charm that's likeable in this day and age of online competition.

KOEI's newest effort in its long-running series adds a few twists here and there, but the basic action stays simplistic and oh-so-familiar. The stategic elements do affact gameplay to a small degree, and the multi-musou attacks and the create-an-officer are neat extraneous additions. Unfortunately, the game's basic concept, button-mashing combat, really hasn't changed one iota since 2001. But hey, there is a two-person option for co-op play!

For no apparent reason, this game was shipped a month early. A month of polishing would have ironed out some ghastly bugs. Some are funny. Some kill the fun of the game. When you do get a bug-free game, however, the hitting and pitching are fun. Fielding and baserunning are not without their problems, but you still get a good game of baseball from 2K7. Still, the look and sound of this game are pretty much identical to MLB 2K6 and it's clear that not much effort went into the current-gen versions of 2K7. The good news is that the online options and solid franchise mode will keep you coming back for more, if you can stand more of JD Drew, rated at 100. Seriously, the guy can barely finish an inning without ending up on the injury report. Is this really happening?

Damn you frame rate issues...Were it not for the dip in speed during gameplay, this could've been an incredible portable title. I'm not sure why it's there, especially since it wasn't in last year's game, but it really drags down the innovative play from features like Road to the Show and the new pitching system. Plus, is it too much to ask for Rivalry mode? Here's hoping that MLB '08: The Show regains its footing after this quick stumble.

Yggdra Union is an amazing accomplishment, but it's a game that I probably admired more than I enjoyed. There's no denying that this is one of the most beautiful and visually-complicated games ever released on the GBA. The gameplay is unique and inventive, but it's not always intuitive and won't be everyone's cup of tea. Real time strategy addicts looking for something new will find it here, but casual gamers would do better to start with something like Advance Wars.

Metal Slug Anthology, while a better bet than the previously released Wii version, is still a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand you’ve got some annoying loading issues (at extremely odd times in some instances) and a less-than perfect set of controls with the PSP’s questionable d-pad and analog nub. On the other, however, are seven arcade-true recreations ranging from the series beginning in 1996. The graphical style, timeless VO (hearing “Rocket Laoon-cha” always brings a smile to our faces), and core gameplay has been entirely retained, though you’ll have to deal with annoying loads and some odd PSP trip-ups during highly-technical moments. The two player offering is bittersweet, as it’s fully supported but requires a second copy of the game (for a total of $80 for co-op), and the experience just doesn’t hold a candle to kicking the crap out of a pizza joint arcade cabinet with a friend. Then again, you won’t need an overflowing pocket of quarters either (once you spend 160 each for the game, that is). For die-hard PSP fans that can’t get enough Metal Slug and don’t mind the somewhat overbearing – and all too frequent – load times, Metal Slug Anthology is a solid purchase. For anyone else, save your cash for the impending April release of the PS2 version, which is sure to support arcade sticks, two player play, and a much larger screen.

Chew Man Fu's appeal will be made clear to you with a quick glance at a screenshot or video --if you're an old-school fan of action-puzzler game designs, you'll immediately recognize it as a game meant for you. But that's not a huge group of players. For most, the gameplay here will be a bit too simplistic. So only invest your cash if you're fully informed of your own personal preference for puzzlers.

Chili Con Carnage is a good deal of fun. It's chaotic, funny and unlike just about every other action game out there. The control issues hamper the experience a bit, but don't keep it from being an overall worthwhile experience. There's lots of stuff to go back and do to keep you occupied, so it'll stay in your PSP a while as well, just so long as you don't get bored of shooting dudes in the face.
