Dietro un'estetica piacevole e graziosa si cela infatti un galvanizzante mix tra un gestionale stratificato ed un deckbuilder rinfrescante. Come una pozione magica che si regge sull'equilibrio di ingredienti meticolosamente selezionati, la bottega della caparbia Sylvia è un alchemico risultato tra elementi apparentemente dissonanti che danno tuttavia vita ad un posto che dovete assolutamente visitare. Occhio però alle avvertenze del foglietto illustrativo: tenere il prodotto lontano dalla portata di giocatori non avvezzi al genere ed inclini a non saper gestire i ritmi martellanti. Fear the Spotlight regala agli appassionati di film e videogiochi dell'orrore cinque ore piacevoli (forse fin troppo visto che parliamo di un horror) da spendere in una storia semplice, capace di rileggere i classici, con delle trovate visive interessanti e una progressione magnifica. Anche l'estetica è perfettamente a metà tra il ricordo dei titoli PlayStation e una resa moderna. Il suo romanticismo di fondo, e una dinamica degli scontri non proprio a fuoco, gli impedisce di far davvero paura, ma riesce a toccare tematiche fastidiose e a inquietare con qualche immagine azzeccata. È la prima produzione di un progetto ambizioso che è anche una ventata d'aria fresca nel panorama dei videogiochi indipendenti, e non vediamo l'ora di scoprire gli altri titoli che compongono la visione di Blumhouse Games. Questa, intanto, è una storia a lieto fine.

The Lake House DLC is another spectacular and spooky slice of Alan Wake II action. It introduces some fantastic new supporting characters to the Remedy Connected Universe, as well as a terrifying new enemy type to overcome and some wonderfully eerie environments to explore. The challenge of its puzzles may be light, but its combat is still chillingly dark even despite the fact it’s not hugely different from that of the main game, and scouring for the many notes, videos, and audio recordings littered throughout its fear-inducing facility made for a genuinely gripping investigation. Funny, frightening, and full of surprises, The Lake House DLC is a tightly paced slice of psychological horror that serves as an absorbing addendum to Alan Wake II.

Awaken - Astral Blade delivers flashes of promise with its boss battles and combat mechanics but ultimately suffers from repetitive enemies, lackluster exploration, and a weak narrative. While the game has its moments, it fails to reach the heights of other China Hero Project titles.

The Lake House se puede considerar un DLC conservador, con un desarrollo que no se aleja mucho de la plantilla de los Survival. Pero lo que le hace especial es la forma de conectar el universo de los juegos de Remedy, con una narrativa y una historia que puedes disfrutar sin conocer los juegos, y que cierra bien la trama. Lástima que sea tan corto.

With its great atmosphere and tight story pacing, Alan Wake 2: The Lake House retains the same elements that made the base game so engaging. The lack of significant new mechanics and its very short length, however, make it a worthwhile purchase only for the most die-hard fans of Alan Wake 2 and the Remedy Connected Universe.

Wildermyth is unlike anything else on the market. A roleplaying game that really emphasizes embodying a character and a story, that also happens to have a good combat system in there. Quickly repeating story elements diminishes that vision a bit, but there is still so much that the game understands about generating drama and investment – this is a must-play that I hope gets a refined and honed sequel.

Setting a Metroidvania-style platforming adventure against a backdrop of building-razing beasts is certainly an intriguing idea, but unlike its towering cast of kaiju cameos, Kong: Survivor Instinct itself simply doesn’t measure up. Its story and characters are underwritten, its ravaged urban playground is eye-catching but not particularly surprising to explore, and its combat fails to evolve enough to keep the fights interesting over the course of the journey. The occasional room-rocking escape sequences do literally shake things up, but they’re few and far between and only distract from the otherwise uncomplicated platforming for short bursts at a time. Kong and his kind may hail from an alternate world hidden deep inside the Earth’s core, but the actual gameplay of Kong: Survivor Instinct is strictly one-dimensional.
