Shadows: Awakening presents a few interesting ideas and a surprisingly large, diverse world. Unfortunately, the game’s ambitious vision is undermined by a host of basic storytelling, combat, and technical issues. Those desperate for some fresh hack ‘n’ slash fun will find things to like about Shadows: Awakening, but the game is easily eclipsed by Diablo and any number of other, better, action-RPGs.

Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner --- M∀RS is one of the best looking mech games out there, despite being a remaster of a 15-year-old game. Its fast, flashy combat still looks and feels good, but is constantly undermined by an extremely unwieldy camera. With its short, linear campaign, dull story, and terrible dialogue, The 2nd Runner seems stuck in 2003, despite its slick graphical upgrade.

Konami will be able to appease the PES fanbase with PES 2019. The improvements to the visuals brings the game to life at times. With over 400 teams and 10,000 players, the hardcore football fan has a lot to marvel over. While losing the Premier League license hurts, Konami hopes adding some other major regional leagues will help. Lacking the licenses makes the game less appealing, but the player selection makes myClub a good mode to go with, even if it’s currency-based. PES 2019 still plays a very good game of football, but needs a bit of modernization.

PES 2019 mantiene ben salda la scuola di pensiero di Konami, puntando molto sulla simulazione e sul divertimento ricercato che una tale caratteristica può dare. Non possono mancare strategia e ragionamento nelle azioni sul campo di PES 2019, che lascia sempre meno spazio all’individualismo per portarsi verso il giropalla e lo studio dell’avversario. Purtroppo pesa la privazione della Champions League, che ormai molte persone vedevano legate in una sorta di matrimonio a Konami. L’aggiunta delle nuove licenze in fatto di campionati esteri è sì un modo per rivalersi, ma non sono sicuro che una grande fetta di giocatori si voglia spostare in Russia o Portogallo per scegliere la squadra con cui giocare. Chiudendo un occhio, PES 2019 dunque brilla dal lato gameplay, fisico e grafico. Se è quello che cercate, sapete già come spendere i vostri soldi.

Divinity: Original Sin II – Definitive Edition is absolutely the best possible version of an already exceptional role-playing game. It’s the same incredibly deep choice-driven experience it was when it launched a year ago, just with a slew of improvements thrown in for good measure. The console version is just as much fun to play as its PC counterpart, and its controls get the job done in a way that’s limited only by controller itself. This game is a must have for anyone who loves classic RPGs and wants to know what would happen if they actually dared to put their crazy ideas into practice.

Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner-MARS, per il suo valore storico e ludico, era e resta un prodotto di alta qualità, da giocare tutto d'un fiato, la più grande interpretazione in formato interattivo dei mecha giapponesi che la storia del gaming ricordi. E questo basta e avanza per farne un'avventura, ancora oggi, assolutamente imperdibile per chiunque non l'abbia mai vissuta prima d'ora. La rimasterizzazione per PS4 e PC aumenta la fluidità di un gameplay avvincente come non mai, limando le spigolature grafiche delle passate edizioni ed incorniciandole con un frame rate inchiodato a 60fps. Ma non è tutto metallo quello che luccica: il prezzo troppo elevato, a fronte di una riedizione contenutisticamente priva di aggiunte considerevoli, e la presenza di alcune scene d'intermezzo in stile anime in bassa risoluzione impediscono infatti a MARS di annoverarsi tra le conversioni prive di mancanze. L'inserimento di una modalità VR, infine, per quanto assai gradita sul piano concettuale, non si rivela capace di rendere interamente giustizia all'opera di Kojima-san. Anche se in molti hanno sognato per anni di vedere il mondo attraverso il cockpit di un mecha, ora come ora è meglio accontentarsi di ammirare dall'esterno la sua lucente scocca metallica.

Sigi – A Fart for Melusina’s core formula clearly targets both the speedrunner and the achievement hunter audience. Its very generous price-tag justifies its very short length, and despite some uninspired boss encounters, this game, largely due to its accessibility, its solid design and its tight controls, remains a joy to play from beginning to end. Short-lived indeed, but fun and enjoyable nonetheless.

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy is a competent inaugural offering but is fated to leave fighting fans wanting more. That said, it’s gratifying to see a developer cater to a group that’s often ignored by the genre.
