Forgotton Anne’s gameplay, then, is fairly standard. But coupled with the gorgeous visuals and storytelling, it becomes something worth remembering. Forgotton Anne’s cutscenes make you feel like you’re watching an animated movie, and getting to watch the story unfold is reward enough for progressing through each segment of gameplay. The game kept me enthralled; even if missing the odd jump was a little frustrating. I don’t want to spoil the story, as unravelling it is surely the draw of Forgotton Anne, but it’s sufficiently captivating without ever being too over the top; it really is the sort of narrative you can imagine playing out in a Ghibli film. Throughline Games really ought to be applauded; Forgotton Anne is something rather special. If this is the calibre of the studio’s first game, I really can’t wait to see what else it comes up with.

El Estratega comienza a solucionar algunos de los problemas del juego base y de la anterior expansión, pero no acaba de dar con la tecla en todas sus parcelas. Sigue siendo demasiado conservador en cuanto a la oferta de contenidos, pero al menos sí que está a la altura en cuanto a la calidad de la oferta (dejando los Asaltos aparte, que es harina de otro costal). No se trata de un contenido descargable perfecto, pero Bungie va por buen camino, como también demuestra el parche de la tercera temporada de Destiny 2.

Killing Floor Incursion, déclinaison en réalité virtuelle de la célèbre série de FPS coopératif de TripWire, propose une campagne jouable seul ou à deux et qui propose seulement quatre niveaux. Autant dire qu'il faut peu de temps pour le finir, et c'est bien dommage, car les sensations de tir sont là, le maniement des armes est prenant et l'immersion réussie, malgré quelques petits défauts. Le mode Arcade, lui aussi jouable à deux, apportera du fun immédiat et viendra quand même augmenter la durée de vie. Au final, ce Killing Floor Incursion représente donc un bonne expérience, mais qui ne surpasse pas la concurrence, forte dans le domaine du shooter en réalité virtuelle.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is one of the best 2D platformers of all time, and this Switch release is its best version out there.

Despite a title that suggests it came out of a name generator, Battle Chasers: Nightwar is a satisfying slice of JRPG that forges a confident, colourful character of its own from formulaic ingredients. The approachable comic style, plus a couple of neat mechanics that encourage experimentation, give it a freshness that belies the age-old systems at its core, and it doesn’t waste your time with filler. Depending on your skill, you’ll probably spend around 30 hours on the critical path – comparatively breezy in RPG terms – though there’s plenty of side content to occupy you beside the main quest, plus a trio of heroes you’ll probably shun on your first playthrough. Disappointing performance dips aside, it feels at home on Switch. Ultimately, it’s the same old story – numbers go up! – but it’s shot through with an infectious exuberance and attention to detail that reinvigorates old tropes.

Suicide Guy è un indie frutto di un lavoro appassionato, ma ancora immaturo. Non mancano certo le buone intenzioni, ed il bizzarro puzzle 3D di Chubby Pixel dimostra di possedere una gran quantità di idee originali e ben diversificate, che in molti casi riescono a strappare un sincero sorriso per l'assoluta demenzialità delle situazioni. Idee che - purtroppo - non riescono ad esprimersi a pieno potenziale principalmente a causa di una realizzazione tecnica approssimativa e sporca, che comporta gravi difetti in grado di minare il divertimento del giocatore. Una maggiore attenzione rivolta ad una fisica di gioco più precisa ed una cura più attenta nella creazione degli enigmi, anche a costo di ridurne la quantità ed eliminare alcune sezioni platform, avrebbero potuto assicurare un'esperienza sicuramente più stimolante.

Le metafore si sprecano in questo titolo che appare quasi più come un commentario sociale interattivo che non un’opera di intrattenimento. Non mancano i momenti di riflessione, riassunti in frasi sibilline lasciate cadere a mezza bocca dai protagonisti. Forgotton Anne ci fa pensare al valore che diamo agli oggetti di ogni giorno e, ancora di più, al valore che attribuiamo alle persone che ci riempiono, distruggono o anche solo attraversano la vita ogni giorno. Delicato, ingenuo e allo stesso tempo brutale come una scarpata nelle gengive, questo titolo è uno dei più emozionanti che ho avuto il piacere di giocare. Seguite Anne, appassionatevi a lei, e comprenderete il desiderio di avvicinarla e sussurrarle “Remember: forgotten, not rotten”.
