On pourra longtemps taxer Nintendo d'opportuniste. Après tout, le constructeur ne se gêne pas pour piocher dans le catalogue de sa console mal aimée -- la Wii U -- pour alimenter celui de la Switch à vitesse grand V. Mais toujours est-il qu'on ne pourra pas lui en vouloir de proposer ses pépites à un public plus important. Car Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze est une pépite. Bien que moins inspiré que son prédécesseur sorti sur Wii et 3DS, ce jeu de plateforme porte la marque des grands. Aïeux du Donkey Kong Country ayant marqué les esprits sur Super Nintendo, il s'appuie sur une ambiance joviale, un level design inspiré, un challenge suffisant et un gameplay aux petits oignons pour faire mouche.  En débarquant sur Switch, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze n'a aucunement perdu ces arguments. Il en a même gagné d'autres : un plus grand confort technique et un mode facile pour les nuls. Un opportunisme nécessaire, à l'arrivée.

Great part two in The Fall series, and leaves the door open just enough ready for part three. If Over the Moon continue with the improvements they’ve made to the next installment, then the trilogy should go down as a true classic of its time.

Dopo quattro anni dall’uscita su Wii U, Nintendo ripropone su Switch Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, secondo platform a tema scimmiesco sviluppato dai texani di Retro Studios. Accodandosi a quanto l’ottimo Country Returns aveva fatto vedere su Wii, Tropical Freeze riprende gran parte della formula del capitolo originario, aumentandone la portata e allargando l’offerta. Oltre all’aggiunta dei due personaggi di Dixie e Cranky che avevamo potuto già ammirare sullo sfortunato Wii U, questa nuova edizione per Switch aggiunge al novero dei personaggi anche Funky Kong, quinto membro della famiglia interessato a scacciare i nevichinghi invasori. Siccome facilita di molto l’esperienza, Funky Kong non risulterà simpaticissimo a tutti i giocatori, specialmente quelli alla ricerca di un’avventura impegnativa e appagante. Nel caso in cui vogliate giocare a Tropical Freeze con tutti i crismi, non vi resterà che scegliere di controllare Donkey Kong e lanciarvi alla scoperta dei circa sessanta livelli che compongono il gioco, pieni di collezionabili, segreti e uscite nascoste. Gli stage sono di dimensioni generose e alcuni di essi sono vere e proprie gemme di level design, accompagnati da una colonna sonora decisamente ispirata. Se amate i platform 2D e avere perso l’occasione di giocare a Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze su Wii U, insomma, adesso non avete proprio più scuse.
