Kingdom Come: Deliverance deserves a lot of credit for succeeding in its highly ambitious and original realism-driven approach to role-playing game design, though the amount of broken quests and general lack of polish in combination with an ill-conceived save system bring down the experience significantly.

Rust is an aggressively competitive survival game that thrives on conflict and trash talk. Other games are better at the individual components, like DayZ for the tense player interactions, Fortnite for the battle royale mode, or Subnautica for the survival gameplay, but Rust blends lesser versions of all three together in a way that works. For competitive players who want a mix of survival and crafting, Rust is the best there is; for everyone else, there are plenty of other games.

They say that love can build a bridge, but love isn’t GlaDOS’ style, so you’ll have to make do with girders and cables instead. Frustratingly difficult in parts, but a game that you’ll keep coming back to until you master it.

So much of Metal Gear Survive is repeating the same thing over and over again in single- and multiplayer. Defending the same points from the same zombies. Exploring the same zones for the same materials. Mining the same resources for the same small amounts of gear. But after learning the ropes and learning to set your own personal goals within that loop, there’s an odd comfort in the formula, and I can see myself returning to expand my end-game base out of my own completionist urges. Survive might not compare well to the tactical espionage action that’s defined the Metal Gear series we know and love, but its oddly hit-or-miss combo of some solid old ideas and some clumsy new ones has at least some appeal.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel further refines the existing Borderlands formula, but it is far from a notable evolution of the experience. Shooting and looting is as fun as ever and characters feel varied, a definite step forward. However, uninspired mission design and a lacking narrative are all too constant and familiar issues.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus arriva su Switch due anni dopo la pubblicazione per PC, PS4 e Xbox One. Pur non avendo la stessa portata rivoluzionaria del primo Championship Edition e della versione migliorata Championship Edition DX, il titolo di Namco si riconferma una droga per gli amanti del classico arcade e un ottimo punto d'inizio per i giocatori più giovani. Questa versione per Switch offre una nuova modalità cooperativa, da cui arriva quel "Plus" nel titolo del gioco. A differenza della porzione per giocatore singolo, la variante multiplayer scricchiola in più punti, come se fosse stata pensata in fretta e furia per adattarsi alla possibilità concessa da Switch di poter giocare in due con la coppia di Joycon. Nel caso in cui non abbiate già giocato Championship Edition 2 sulle altre piattaforme, sappiate che l'ibrida Nintendo è la macchina perfetta per questo tipo di esperienza ludica. Se, invece, vi siete già saziati di Pac-Dot negli ultimi due anni, la modalità cooperativa forse è un po' troppo debole per giustificare l'acquisto.
