Inkulinati Inkulinati arriva finalmente alla sua full release e lo fa con un prodotto tanto affascinante quanto complesso. L'estetica medievale dei marginalia trasmette una personalità unica al progetto, così come un gameplay efficacemente strategico e stratificato. Tuttavia, come per tutti i titoli che decidono di abbracciare al contempo un art design peculiare ed un genere di nicchia, il risultato finale è inevitabilmente un prodotto che non è facile consigliare a tutti. Al di là delle indiscutibili qualità, l'opera di esordio di Yaza Games è un chiaro esempio di quello che il mercato indie sa riservare: soprattutto i fan della tattica dovrebbero buttarci un occhio. À défaut d’être le jeu de pirates ultime, Skull and Bones est un bon jeu de batailles navales qui a des arguments pour vous donner envie de vous investir. Alors non, ici, pas de phases d’action à la troisième personne : l’aventure se déroule quasi-exclusivement sur les flots, et une fois passé l’effet de surprise, les qualités du jeu service d’Ubisoft se dévoilent. Les sept mers de l’océan Indien font l’objet d’une ambiance et d’une technique solide, et les combats en pleine mer sont une vraie réussite. Alors, vous allez peut-être ramer pour arriver jusqu’au endgame, à cause d’une progression pas mal redondante, mais croyez-nous, le prix en vaut la chandelle. En bref, une bonne surprise, loin du naufrage que certains voyaient à l’horizon.

Skull and Bones porte ironiquement bien son nom tant il ressemble à un squelette décharné. Dix ans de développement pour un jeu vidéo, c’est long, très long, et le titre d’Ubisoft Singapour porte tous les stigmates de ce calvaire, à commencer par sa réalisation datée. Enfermé dans une boucle de gameplay lassante à terme, le jeu fait tout son possible pour nous occuper avec des déclinaisons de missions ad nauseam et une accumulation de couches et de surcouches de craft, améliorations et personnalisations qui finissent par coller un sacré mal de mer. S’il n’est finalement pas ce catastrophique naufrage tant redouté, Skull and Bones tient tout de même plus du radeau bricolé et balloté par des flots incertains, que du fier galion qui aurait dû nous embarquer dans une aventure épique. Bref, à moins d’avoir une irrépressible envie d’embruns et de capitalisme vidéoludique, peut-être vaut-il mieux rester au port.

Skull and Bones è un prodotto dalla doppia faccia, e per tal motivo è veramente difficile da valutare. Da un lato troviamo un prodotto fortemente arretrato sotto il comparto delle soluzioni ludiche e dal punto di vista tecnico, ma dall’altro lato non possiamo non ammettere quanto sia dannatamente divertente e appagante una volta che ci si lanci nel mare aperto, alla ricerca di tesori e navi da distruggere. È un peccato perché, dal nostro punto di vista, il titolo poteva e doveva dare molto di più, soprattutto sotto il profilo di un’offerta ludica conservativa e per troppi aspetti arretrata e superata, che non riesce ad accompagnare degnamente il giocatore lungo un percorso che potrebbe risultare più breve e meno epico di quanto ci si poteva immaginare ai nastri di partenza. Trattandosi di un GaaS, ci aspettiamo comunque l’arrivo di ulteriori contenuti e meccaniche di gioco pronte a dare longevità al titolo e a “pescare” sempre nuovi giocatori.

Alisa Developer's Cut è un gioco per nostalgici. Se vi mancano la telecamera fissa, i controlli di movimento più legnosi di sempre, un doppiaggio estremamente approssimativo e una narrativa non entusiasmante, proprio come nel primo Resident Evil, allora è il gioco che fa per voi. L'intera esperienza è pensata come un tributo al modo di fare action horror degli anni '90, senza modernizzazioni o compromessi di alcun tipo e in questo è un successo straordinario. L'effetto macchina del tempo è pressoché istantaneo, ma la consapevolezza della contemporaneità peserà molto su chi questa nostalgia non la sente o quel periodo non l'ha vissuto. L'esperimento dello sviluppatore belga Casper Croes è da considerarsi riuscito: è possibile fare i giochi come una volta ma non è detto che sia la cosa migliore per tutti.

Skull and Bones isn’t the successor to Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag that many seem to want, and it isn’t many of things Ubisoft itself said it would be at various points in its storied history, but the seafaring RPG we ultimately got is still surprisingly good. Sailing around the Indian Ocean firing cannons, mortars, and giant ballista at your foes is a fun time, the RPG mechanics and cooperative buildcrafting is as deep as the ocean with plenty of awesome gadgets to grind for, and the economy simulator is impressively in-depth. It doesn’t quite fulfill the promise of a decade-long cruise to port yet either, with a thin endgame, almost no story to speak of, and general instability that sometimes makes the adventure feel like a rough draft. But here’s hoping some of those shortcomings can be washed away by the waves of content already planned to come in an ambitious live-service roadmap that’s fast approaching. For now, its maiden voyage is a good start.

The Sequel to the original HELLDIVER game takes it a step further and puts your more closer to the danger and combat. With danger turning into war withing seconds, your only option is to rely on Stratagems, Allies and Democracy.

Foamstars is at odds with itself. Its unexpectedly engaging combat mechanics, fast-paced matches, and cool music draw me in, but trudging through its flat single-player content, concerningly aggressive monetization, and horrendously slow menus has numbered Foamstars’ days on my PS5 hard drive. I also feel like I’ve already seen everything it has to offer, and its announced update plan looks glacially slow for a sink-or-swim multiplayer landscape currently full of great options. Foamstars’ ranked modes and maps may be exciting and nuanced mid-match, but the confounding time-gated queues around them don’t offer much motivation to grind up the ladder, which leaves me with very little reason to surf these bubbly waves no matter how much fun it may be.

A Little to the Left has proven to be a great ‘night cap’ game for us these past few days, one to play for half hour before bed to unwind. It’s also been a nice palate cleanser in between other, more action heavy titles. It’s the kind of game that will suit almost anyone, offering up a fun, chill, satisfying experience.
