Réécriture du conte de Pinocchio, Lies of P est un succès surprenant pour nos yeux d'adulte. Tout le charme du jeu, ou presque, réside dans son univers glaçant, morbide, mais envoûtant. Neowiz fait preuve d'un sens du détail incomparable avec les dernières sorties du genre, bien que le studio reste trop souvent cantonné à une recette classique au niveau du gameplay. Lies of P fait largement ses preuves, il ne lui manque plus maintenant que l'affranchissement pour approcher la perfection.

Comment continuer à faire vivre une série mythique du jeu vidéo qui vient de fêter ses 30 années d'existence ? NetherRealm a tranché. Les apprentis sorciers dirigés par Ed Boon réaniment la bête et optent pour un joli reboot soignant sa stratégie d’accessibilité, ajoutant une grosse touche de RPG (Invasions) et approfondissant son gameplay avec une feature jusque-là inédite dans la série (Kaméos). Malgré son côté Live service agressif, des modes solo/multi assez classiques et la disparition d’éléments adorés des fans, le titre édité par WB Games frappe fort à défaut d'asséner un uppercut.

Minimaliste et très malin, Oberty est de ces puzzles que l'on cale pour longtemps dans son mobile (il ne fait que 44 mégaoctets) et que l'on sort dans un moment calme et contemplatif.

Eleven years on, Legend of Nayuta still looks surprisingly modern. At least some of that stems from Peter ‘Durante’ Thoman’s team at PH3 working their customary sorcery. Not only does the title enjoy a solid sixty frame-per-second framerate, but fidelity has also been boosted, and even audio quality demonstrates a palpable improvement. The latter is especially important given the quality of Falcom Sound Team JDK’s work, with Boundless supplying an abundance of beguiling tracks. Although they tell some ambitious stories, Falcom’s mainline Trails games habitually demand familiarity from players. But The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails is one of those marvelous exceptions. The game asks little more than for you to befriend its affable cast and appreciate its punchy real-time combat. Anyone with even a passing interest in action role-playing, should pay attention to Boundless’ appeal.

Lies of P non ci prova nemmeno a nascondere le sue ispirazioni, e va benissimo così. Lo studio sudcoreano Neowiz ha chiaramente messo Bloodborne su un piedistallo, scolpendo un action RPG a sua somiglianza, che pur risultando derivativo a tratti, riesce comunque a ritagliarsi una propria identità grazie a un assurdo ma efficace connubio con Le avventure di Pinocchio di Carlo Collodi, romanzo su cui il team ha deciso di basare il proprio immaginario dark fantasy. Lies of P ha qualche piccolo problema tecnico, un level design un po' elementare, e gli mancano quei colpi di genio tipici dei videogiochi di FromSoftware, eppure, nella sua singolarità, con i suoi personali punti di forza, riesce a imporsi senza mezzi termini come uno dei migliori soulslike degli ultimi anni: curato, profondo e soprattutto divertente, dall'inizio alla fine. Ci sono momenti di brillantezza, panorami mozzafiato, combattimenti memorabili, ma soprattutto c'è tanta passione e ci sono buone idee, che meriterebbero di essere sviluppate ulteriormente in futuro.

Aunque por momentos resulta demasiado derivativo, nos lo hemos pasado como enanos con Lies of P. Está tan bien realizado en todos los aspectos y los cambios que introduce tan bien pensados (pese a no ser rompedores), que habría que mentir para no recomendarlo.

Not even attempting to hide the massive influence Bloodborne has had on it, Lies of P is a solid imitation of the game developed by FromSoftware. While it lacks the same combat and world design finesse of its illustrious inspiration, the action role-playing game by NEOWIZ is among the most accomplished soulslike game released this year, thanks to its dark retelling of the story of Pinocchio, combat and character customization tweaks and great enemy design.

The story campaign and, arguably, the fighting are the best they’ve ever been for Mortal Kombat, although there’s currently a lack of other modes and Invasion is a disappointment.

Mortal Kombat 1 is one of the franchise’s most bloody-entertaining entries to date, offering up refined action, smartly revamped fighters, and a story mode that delivers a surprisingly-coherent plot and plenty of blockbuster thrills. A lack of compelling modes and meaningful character customization does hurt, but Mortal Kombat 1 should be a heart-ripping hit with fans even if the overall package is slightly anemic.

Ce retour aux fondamentaux ponctuée de nouveautés parfaitement implémentées, d'une expérience solo variée et d'un mode en ligne simple, mais efficace et techniquement très solide saura sans aucun doute conquérir les vétérans de la licence comme les nouveaux venus.

Même dans une période pleine de sorties et un concurrent direct sorti il y a quelques mois, Mortal Kombat réussit à s'imposer comme une nouvelle référence des jeux de combat. La franchise repart de zéro, apprend de ses erreurs et nous fournit une des plus belles versions de Mortal Kombat à ce jour. Modernité, tradition et diversité s'entremêlent dans un nouvel opus coup de poing, à la narration cinématographique et aux fatalités sanglantes. Les joueurs en prendront plein les yeux avant d'en prendre plein la tête, avec toujours autant de technicité en jeu. Le titre est encore perfectible, mais on touche du doigt ce que les jeux de combat font de mieux.
