The Divine Force isn’t necessarily a standout in this long-running series, but it is a much more successful effort to bring Star Ocean into the modern age than its predecessor. The revamped battle mechanics do wonders for its previously limited combat system, offering more freedom and flexibility than ever before. The main cast of characters is also charming, even if the world they are exploring and the animations that accompany them are far less captivating. I wish its interface issues were less obnoxious, but even so, The Divine Force at least proves that Square Enix’s sci-fi JRPG certainly deserved another shot.

Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef's hand-drawn art is fantastic and the action is suitably frenzied. But do yourself a favor and play it on another platform.

L’habit ne fait pas le moine, voilà qui définit allègrement Mount and Blade 2 : Bannerlord. Derrière sa plastique loin d’être aussi sexy que les standards actuels et du même calibre, et un manque de finition sur certains points, se cache une véritable pépite chronophage qui avalera vos heures de sommeil à n’en pas douter. Oui, le soft est un peu raide aux premiers abords et il est vrai qu’il ne se livre pas vraiment de lui-même. Mais lui donner une chance c’est profiter d’un jeu de gestion profond et intelligent, se trouver le nez dans le sang lors de combats gigantesques et viscéraux, et surtout, c’est vivre une épopée unique, la vôtre. Ça vaut bien quelques sacrifices.

Este juego musical es oro puro, al menos para los que conocen la saga o, también, para cualquier melómano que se precie. La simpatía es la nota más importante que presenta esta obra (algo común a toda esta saga), siendo una auténtica delicia darle al taiko (tambor japonés) mientras escuchamos melodías de Pokémon the Movie, Zelda o Schubert. Un título muy cuidado y que integra bastante contenido, desde multitud de opciones de personalización de personajes a modalidades bastante variadas para uno o varios jugadores. Es uno de esos escasos juegos que te alegran el día simplemente por pasar un rato con él, y eso no tiene precio.

Gotham Knights è l’esperimento di Warner Bros Games per portare anche i supereroi DC sul territorio dell’open world RPG. Considerato il retaggio della gloriosa serie di Arkham, tuttavia, il risultato è un’opera abbastanza controversa: un parco giochi digitale per chi vive di fumetti di Batman e un buon sistema di diversificazione per i quattro eroi giocabili non giustificano pienamente una formula in cui la quantità sovrasta la qualità. Il mondo aperto che fa da teatro alle peripezie di Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin e Cappuccio Rosso è tradizionale e ripetitivo, mentre l’afflato ruolistico - per quanto stimolante a livello di progressione - diventa fin troppo soverchiante per il ritmo narrativo e ludico della produzione. In generale, le maggiori divergenze rispetto all’epopea di Arkham risultano in parte il principale limite dell’opera. Pur divertendo, i Cavalieri di Gotham non sembrano ancora al livello del loro mentore...

While Signalis won’t be leading to a full-on fifth-gen survival horror renaissance, if only because some of the genre’s past sins still linger, it still delivers an enjoyable adventure that perfectly captures the feel of the classic era while also doubling down on more detailed cosmic horrors and twisted visuals, capped off with some sturdy combat and impressive puzzle design. Those in the mood for a quick yet quality-filled horror game should check out Signalis, as it delivers welcome sci-fi scares.
