Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II è la conferma, qualora ce ne fosse stato il bisogno, delle grandi capacità di Infinity Ward di saper tirare fuori il meglio dalla saga sparatutto di Activision. La missione di restare in scia all'ottimo soft reboot del 2019 può dirsi portata a termine con successo, anche in virtù di una componente multiplayer che si lascia amare per la quantità di contenuti offerti e anche apprezzare per le diverse novità introdotte, per quanto la campagna single player difficilmente rimarrà negli annali. A non convincere pienamente è il rinnovato sistema di perk e un bilanciamento delle partite lontano dalla perfezione, mentre la discreta quantità di bug e difetti non rende onore all'esperienza di lunga data della software house americana. D'altra parte non si può però ignorare la qualità generale di un blockbuster videoludico che intrattiene ininterrottamente i fan della serie da quasi vent'anni, tanto da non lasciare dubbi sul fatto che Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II resterà nei mesi a venire il punto di riferimento per gli sparatutto multiplayer su console di vecchia e attuale generazione.

Saturnalia isn’t a long game; you can complete the whole thing in a dozen hours, and often fewer, depending on how you play, but it’s a memorable experience nonetheless. It uses horror in smart ways to explore social topics – the town’s isolation, resistance to change and to outsiders, and the ugly social beliefs that those things inform. Those facets combine perfectly to make a game that isn’t just horrifying because of the monsters that stalk us in the night. It’s horrifying because of the monsters we make, too – and the things we’re capable of becoming.

PGA Tour 2K23 riesce a divertire e appassionare, introducendo un nuovo sistema di swing molto più controllabile. Questo, insieme a un miglioramento generale di gameplay e animazioni, rende il titolo divertente e più che godibile. Tanti contenuti, una buona personalizzazione, modalità consolidate e buona dose di multiplayer: certo, HB Studios e 2K hanno qualcosa da implementare dal punto di vista tecnico, ma non possiamo dire che non si siano impegnati per la realizzazione di un titolo di golf degno del suo nome.

A mild disappointment compared to the first Modern Warfare reboot, that relies too much on nostalgia and old ideas, but the core action and multiplayer modes are as irresistible as ever.

Call of Duty’s shooting is once again in a prestige class of its own, which means Modern Warfare 2’s campaign always manages to operate on a minimum quality bar that delivers a satisfying punch. But beyond each thunderous pull of the trigger is an underwhelming story and level designs that are too concerned with replicating the successes of previous campaigns rather than embracing its own good ideas for more than a single mission apiece. In the areas it does innovate it almost always stumbles, although there does remain some enjoyment to be taken in its momentary flashes of inspiration. Overall, though, this is sadly a lackluster follow-up to Modern Warfare 2019’s refined take on a Call of Duty campaign, and an experience that’s already fading in my memory.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 marks a serious return to form for the FPS series, with a solid campaign to run through and multiplayer modes more than worth investing your time in. It may be a bit confusing on the back end, but Modern Warfare 2 is the best any Call of Duty title has been at launch in a very long time.

Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef wist ons aangenaam te verrassen, want de visuele voorstelling die gepaard gaat met een ludiek verhaal en goede humor houden je echt vast van begin tot einde. Het enig minpuntje voor ons was wel dat het sneller voorbij was dan we hadden gehoopt, want eenmaal je bent vertrokken, gaat het hard.
