Chaos Rings is not an amazing adventure game for the iPhone. It is an amazing adventure game – period. This battle-heavy RPG is loaded with dozens of hours of play across four sets of heroes. The narrative is excellent, as is the character development. It is easy to control in both exploration and battle scenes thanks to clean, smart virtual controls. There is real depth to the battle system, too, as you weigh the risks of solo or pair attacks versus exposure to enemy blows, and how this can affect the flow of the fight. My big complaint is the out-of-place series of puzzle rooms that just slow things down. Otherwise, this is a wonderful RPG that any Square fan or adventure gamer would be crazy to miss.

There were a few moments I yelled at the TV while playing Dead to Rights: Retribution, but those moments that actually elicited an emotion passed relatively quickly. In the end, I remember Jack’s “so bad it’s good” dialogue and the Shadow missions more than anything else. From there, Dead to Rights: Retribution is just another third-person shooter. Go here, kill them, do it again. It’s rough around the edges –- shadows look like crap on people’s faces and the enemies aren’t smart –- but it could be worse. Of course, that also means that it could be a lot better.

The Lost & Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony are the perfect way to close out the GTA IV saga. Finally, we know what happened to the diamonds stolen in the main story two years ago. Though Johnny and Luis don't have very interesting storylines, there are some fantastic additions to the supporting cast. The voice acting is superb, there are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, the presentation is amazing and there's still the wonder that is Liberty City for you to explore. Sure, it's pretty much the same place you saw as Niko in GTA IV, but it's still an incredible creation. It's probably been a long while since you last ventured into Liberty City. Take this opportunity to pick up a great collection of two additional campaigns. You might be surprised to discover how much you missed the noisy, crowded streets.

Conviction is a Splinter Cell game in name more than anything else. You could easily swap Sam Fisher for Jack Bauer or create an all new character and no one would give it a second thought. The gameplay is fast, and Sam has been transformed into the ultimate killer. It's an amazing game, but so different from its predecessors you might not recognize it. Despite a few questionable level design choices, Splinter Cell Conviction is a great addition to the series. There's no way I could go back to a stealth game as it used to be; I've been converted. The only reason to hesitate and pick this up is if you only care about the single-player story and want nothing to do with anything else Conviction has to offer. If that's the case, then there's not a lot of game to be had. And also, you're nuts. The best parts of Conviction are the experiences you have long after you've left Sam Fisher behind.

I absolutely love the 8-bit throwback here (blowing into your iPhone to "dust off" the NES cart was a nice touch), but Dark Void Zero is good fun whether or not you are a retrogaming fiend. I was surprised – and ultimately pleased – that the virtual controls worked out so well and that I was able to make precision jumps with a great degree of success. If you are looking for a new action fix on your iPhone, Dark Void Zero delivers.

And that ties in to the problem with Again in general. Everything about it feels present because it's expected, not because it belongs or makes sense. Full of bad adventure game cliches, mired in repetition, poor translation, and an utter lack of personality, Again is an inglorious end for the makers of Hotel Dusk. Unless you have a particular fascination with Cing's history (and end) or an affinity for arbitrary puzzles, Again should be avoided.

After over four years of Virtual Console updates, the Wii's VC retro gaming download service has become, perhaps, the best source for classic side-scrolling shooter experiences ever assembled -- but the fish-themed Darius Twin makes only a minor splash in that massive sea of competition. Throw this one back in the water, take your 800 Wii Points and cast a new line toward one of the Wii Shop's other, more complete and better-aged shooter options.

Espgaluda II is a surprise bit of fun that works much better than expected. It takes a big visual hit, which is disappointing. And as of right now, it will not play on pre-3GS or second-gen iPod Touches. But if you have a device that can handle it and want to experience the shooter sub-genre known as “bullet hell,” then get with the downloading.

Whether you played the original games or not, you will enjoy Final Fight: Double Impact. The presentation of the cabinets and different views are great, the gameplay is as fun as ever, and there’s tons of stuff to collect as you play through this title. Yeah, these are the same games that were released oh-so long ago so there won’t be a million surprises, but Final Fight and Magic Sword are fun to play, the co-op integration is impressive, and there are plenty of reasons to keep playing them over and over again. Two great games just got a welcome dose of polish and love. You should pick them up.

Calling is absolutely worthless. The acting is terrible, it controls poorly, and it's chock full of dumb cliches. It’s the videogame equivalent of the more recent Asian horror remakes. You could not find a less scary survival horror game on the Wii.

Only DSi owners should consider upgrading to Korg DS-10 Plus. That said, for that crowd this is definitely a superior product to the original DS-10. Dual Mode instantly doubles your sonic possibilities. There are still the same interface issues, though, like the inability to work with more than 16 sequences, create sequences longer than a measure, or play chords. Korg DS-10 is great for making repetitive electronica. If that's what you're looking to do, you won't be disappointed.

That's actually something I wanted to make sure I touched on. OCD superfreaks are going to go crazy trying to figure out the "right" way to talk to everyone the first time. It's impossible. Just go with it; often a "wrong" response offers clues on how to talk to someone later anyway, and really the game is so rife with chances to do stuff that you'll be retrying for years. Throw in the fact that the game often gives you a rather brief window to just explore the city (or carry out a task for someone) and you'll never see everything your first time through. That's a good thing, because (and I know I've said this before) after a decade on the market, the PlayStation 2 is finally getting its swan song and the Wii is getting a fantastic RPG to bulk up its library. The release calendar on the PS2 is a ghost town, and for many, this may be the system's final bow. Fitting, then, that it's something you could easily play over and over again for a few more years. Hopefully by then, we'll be lucky enough to get a follow-up here on the Wii, because this really is an experience you won't get from any other game. It's also one that shouldn't be missed.

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Portable is a respectable port of the original BlazBlue. All the crazy action that players might have experienced on the PS3 or 360 is recreated on Sony’s handheld, though the dramatic sacrifices made to the game’s visuals, sound and online functionality are disappointing. Still, I love the crazy character designs and fantastic gameplay mechanics, despite those sacrifices. BlazBlue Portable is an impressive offering on its own, but gamers should keep in mind that the original PS3 version is superior, and the second BlazBlue title, Continuum Shift, has been confirmed for a U.S. launch. With that in mind, I'd suggest that prospective buyers hold off and purchase Continuum Shift when it comes to retail. But if you'd rather have a portable version of the original, BlazBlue PSP works well.

There’s a reason why there’s only twelve people currently on the leaderboards for NBA Unrivaled and that is that this is one of the worst PSN games released in recent memory. There’s no way that any one should pay ten dollars for it and the fact that twelve people already have makes me question the sanity of the world around me. I can’t imagine any basketball fan who would want to take the plunge into NBA Unrivaled, I don’t care what type of gaming experience you’re looking for. Avoid this one at all costs. You’ve been warned.

Getting all there is to get out of Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey requires patience and a willingness to experiment and explore. Provided that describes you, there's plenty to enjoy in this lengthy dungeon crawler. Though the game's turn-based combat system is standard stuff, fusing demons, launching co-op attacks, and exploring the environments keeps things interesting. There's also a surprising amount of personality in the game, as dialogue sequences develop the characters, bosses, and quests to an impressive degree. It's not without a few bumps here and there, but Strange Journey's depth and wealth of options for customization make it a trip worth taking.

Apart from any disappointment about the length of the game, Mega Man 10 still has plenty to offer, and for a game that costs $10, you're getting a lot of bang for your buck. Mega Man 10 is unequivocally worth more than you're going to pay for it, but that $10 might not be well-spent if you don't know what you're getting yourself into. Fans of the series are going to want purchase this game, no questions asked, and you're going to love it when you do. But those who didn't game during the 8-bit era and have no familiarity with older games are going to find Mega Man 10 to be a frustrating, ruthless and unforgiving crash-course in the way games used to play. There's no hand-holding to be found here -- Mega Man 10 takes levels of memorization and skill that pretty much no game today requires. It's as throwback as throwback can get in that respect (especially on hard mode -- just you wait). But those nostalgic, skilled old-schoolers who want to take another romp with Mega Man are going to fall in love with Mega Man 10. Its graphics, while in an archaic style, are beautiful. The Robot Master designs are awesome. The music is brilliant. The gameplay is classic. And the little additions give the series enough new life to keep things going full steam ahead. It's strange how Mega Man 9 sucked me into speed-running the game just to see my name on the leaderboard, and Mega Man 10 has done the same thing to me. Go figure. So yes, progression in gaming is a good thing. But when you're talking about the classic Mega Man series, the world of 8-bit is precisely where it belongs. And because of that refusal to take a big jump forward, Mega Man 10 delivers. This might be quite the statement for many, but I stand behind it 100%: in terms of pure gameplay, Mega Man 10 is easily a better game than 90% of what we play on a yearly basis. And you can take that to the bank.
