Escasos recursos, poco tiempo y falta de experiencia… Probablemente estos han sido los mayores problemas de la nueva desarrolladora dedicada a dar vida a los transformers en el mundo del videojuego. Rise of the Dark Spark cae en lo genérico con un third person shooter monótono, corto y no carente de errores tanto de diseño como de programación. Su campaña es clónica, aunque su multijugador es interesante y aún posee pequeñas pero interesantes ideas en su seno que podrían hacerlo atractivo para los más fieles de esta licencia.

The combination of repetitive gameplay, pacing and story issues in relation to the Earth/Cybertron dynamic and the absence of almost any new ideas will result in Rise of the Dark Spark finding itself being forgotten in the not too distant future. In the vocally distorted words of Bumblebee… “[Sad bleeps]”. Sad Bleeps indeed.

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark has a few bright spots; the co-op Escalation mode is enjoyable, and there are cool weapons befitting the bots. But the bland campaign is a slog with uneven difficulty, while vehicle transformations and combat are largely unsatisfying. Without nailing that, you’ve got a bad Transfomers game.

Lo si percepiva già nell'aria, ma la prova sul campo ha confermato ufficialmente che il passaggio di consegne da High Moon Studios a Edge of Reality ha portato male ai Transformers videoludici. Rise of the Dark Spark è uno shooter in terza persona scialbo, brutto da vedere, noioso e con una trama dotata di ritmo ma troppo sconclusionata e senza un solo passaggio degno di essere ricordato. Il co-op online risolleva leggermente la situazione, ma a parte questo c'è davvero pochissimo da salvare.

Quelle déception que ce Transformers : The Dark Spark ! Après 2 épisodes plutôt sympathiques, la série trébuche violemment, probablement en raison d'un temps de développement écourté afin de coller à la sortie du film. On se retrouve donc avec un jeu buggé, plutôt laid, mal optimisé, à la difficulté ultra mal calibrée et à l'IA ridicule. Bref, à éviter, à moins que vous ne soyez un fan absolu.

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, assieme all'ultimo The Amazing Spiderman, è un titolo che dà una sonora svegliata a chi pensava che per i giochi su licenza fosse nata una nuova stagione. In verità tutto è sempre rimasto come prima, quando si parlava di “maledizione dei Tie-In”: nella maggior parte dei casi gli appassionati dei brand cinematografici devono accontentarsi di titoli modestissimi, sviluppati con poco e concepiti senza la voglia di stupire. Di tanto in tanto, è possibile che qualche prodotto si distingua dalla massa, magari per gli sforzi di un team più ispirato. Non è però questo il caso: anzi, il titolo in esame si ferma al livello basilare dello sparatutto, penalizzato anche da un salto generazionale senza slanci tecnici, ed anzi più vicino ai risultati della scorsa generazione che a quelli della nuova.

Sorry, Edge of Reality. Aber das war nix. Nicht nur, dass man es auch im x-ten Anlauf nicht geschafft hat, die Klasse des mittlerweile zehn Jahre alten PS2-Transformers von Melbourne House zu erreichen. Schlimmer noch: Nachdem die letzten Cybertron-Abenteuer der Roboter Grund zur Hoffnung gaben, kehrt man mit The Dark Spark zur Transformers-Tristesse zurück. Erzählerisch, mechanisch und visuell erinnert viel zu viel an die schwachen Lizenzspiele zu den Filmen. Die Gefechte werden mechanisch ordentlich inszeniert, doch das gesamte Umfeld passt nicht. Die Vehikelfähigkeiten sind zu mächtig. Die Spielbalance könnte kaum unausgewogener sein. Es gibt unnötiges Trial & Error. Die Auswahl der spielbaren Figuren konzentriert sich in der Kampagne zu selten auf die Fan-Lieblinge. Die Geschichten aus Vergangenheit und Zukunft werden unzureichend zusammengeführt. Der Horde-ähnliche Eskalations-Modus ist kaum besucht – was auch nicht verwundert, da er keinen Hund hinter dem Ofen hervor holen kann. Man könnte die Liste noch fortsetzen und damit die wenigen positiven Elemente wie die prinzipiell funktionierende Baller-Mechanik vollkommen in Vergessenheit geraten lassen. Doch auch so würde ich allen Transformers-Fans raten, entweder die mittlerweile zum Kampfpreis erhältlichen Sclachten um Cybertron nochmals aufleben zu lassen oder evtl. doch über die Anschaffung einer PS2 samt dem zehn Jahre alten Klassiker nachzudenken.
