Final Fantasy XII est un monstre de modernité, capable de prendre dix ans dans la face sans broncher. Scénario aux libertés d'antan, promenoir béat, jouabilité émérite et délectations récréatives. Jouer à Final Fantasy XII c'est comprendre d'où viennent les petits cailloux dispersés sur les chemins actuels du jeu vidéo. À bon entendeur !

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age, c’est un peu cette édition ultime que l’on a tous attendu. Finalement, elle débarque plus de dix ans plus tard, profitant d’un sentiment de nostalgie certain. Un sentiment, qui poussera sans doute les amoureux de cette aventure à la refaire et à ceux qui n’ont jamais eu le courage de la terminer, de peut-être s’y plonger pleinement. Gardant toujours ses quelques vilains défauts, Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age n’en reste pas moins un incontournable pour les fans et une occasion parfaite pour les néophytes de s’y coller.

Si, sin duda han pasado 10 años desde que luchamos por Dalmasca, nos enamoramos de todos los personajes y derramamos alguna lágrima en determinados puntos... pero lo bonito de esta remasterización es sin duda que Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age nos sentará como tomar un vino buen. Disfrutaremos de lo bien que le han sentado los años, también de la nueva forma de presentarlo, puliendo esos aspectos negativos que a muchos les hizo abandonarlo. Notaremos esos matices familiares y sabrosos, que solo nos dan los juegos que nos han hecho sentir profundamente y han hecho que sus píxeles cobren vida en nuestro corazón. Y sin duda, brindaremos por la oportunidad de volver a vivir una de las mayores aventuras que la saga de Final Fantasy nos ha brindado.

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age is not a perfect game, but it’s pretty damn close. With all the things it did right, my only complaints by the end of the game was its overall lack of difficulty and the way magick was handled, but neither had a particularly significant impact on my experience. Square Enix managed to take a game that was already great and made it even better by bringing it to the PS4, and, quite frankly, this is the shining example of how remasters should be — improving the game in multiple aspects while keeping the core gameplay intact. As such, there will be plenty of fun for both veterans and newcomers alike: the former will be able to see how things have changed since they last played whichever version they’re familiar with, while the latter will be able to enjoy an enhanced version of one of the best Final Fantasy titles ever. Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age can most aptly be described as the modernization of a game which, in its day, was a modernization of the classic Final Fantasy formula; and now I’m looking forward to seeing how Square Enix applies that modernization to future titles in the series.

Malgré sa fonction de remaster, Final Fantasy XII : The Zodiac Job apporte assez de contenu inédit en Europe pour valoir le coup. Le Zodiac Job System est ce qu’il manquait au système de compétence pour être intuitif et intéressant, le mode accéléré est fort pratique dans un jeu qui ne manque pas de phase de farming et le choix des voix et des musiques et toujours une bonne chose. Les retouches visuelles sont réussies et même si les animations ont pris de l’âge, ce qu’on a devant les yeux et plus que probant. Bref, foncez, il y a peu de chances que vous soyez déçus.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age si presenta come un ottima versione migliorata dell'originale per PS2, e a distanza di anni riesce ancora a convincere grazie al suo combat system ed al nuovo sistema Gambit. L'aspetto grafico non ha subito migliorie sostanziali, se non durante le cut scene, mentre il comparto audio ha avuto una buona rinfrescata ed è stato arricchito dal doppiaggio originale giapponese, oltre a quello inglese. L'unica nota negativa è il nuovo Zodiac Job System, non molti intuitivo all'inizio per i principianti della saga. In definitiva, ci sentiamo di consigliare il titolo a tutti coloro che sempre amano Final Fantasy e a chi apprezza il genere GDR e non ha mai avuto modo di giocare l'avventura di Vaan.

La narration, l'univers visuel, et le gameplay sont particulièrement rafraîchissants, surtout quand on se dit que cela a été fait il y a dix ans. La variété des améliorations et les ajustements donneront aux nouveaux joueurs la chance d'expérimenter cette magie pour la première fois, et aux fans de revivre l'aventure originale d'une manière plus séduisante encore.

Final Fantasy XII released to mixed opinions when it first hit back in 2006, and even today, fans will still argue over where it deserves to land on a listing of the best chapters of the franchise. It received those opinions because it was a bold, daring, and different chapter of a series that up-ended our expectations for what Final Fantasy should be—and all these years later, those elements are part of the reason why I still think it’s one of the best entries we’ve ever received.

Final Fantasy XII, già nella sua versione originale, era un prodotto di rara validità e ambizione, grazie ad una storia profonda (seppur a volte troppo focalizzata sulla politica) e un gameplay magistralmente articolato. Il titolo, tuttavia, ebbe la sfortuna -o magari il coraggio, a seconda dei punti di vista- di approdare sulla scena ludica nel triste periodo storico in cui il genere JRPG cominciava ad abbandonare quasi del tutto i sistemi di combattimento a turni per esplorare invece l’azione più frenetica, tipica del videogioco occidentale. Come risultato, il prodotto andò a svezzare bruscamente i fan storici delle meccaniche nipponiche, da sempre abituati a controllare ogni singola azione dei propri eroi, e forse proprio questa fu la principale colpa che potremmo imputare al titolo: l’aver anticipato di qualche anno quell’automatizzazione del party che oggi non genera più il medesimo scalpore di un tempo. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, invece, ha il merito di aver migliorato il gioco base sotto ogni aspetto, e proprio per questo motivo ci sentiamo in dovere di consigliarlo sia alle nuove generazioni che alle più navigate, inclusa quella cospicua fetta di utenza che a suo tempo non si ritrovò particolarmente coinvolta dalla trama e dal sistema di gambit, e che oggi potrebbe vedere il tutto sotto una nuova luce. Final Fantasy XII meritava una seconda opportunità per mostrare il proprio valore: i molteplici ritocchi apportati al gameplay rendono questa riedizione, quindi, l'occasione definitiva per ritentare l'impresa. Da parte di un colosso come Square Enix, tuttavia, ci saremmo aspettati una maggiore attenzione per quanto riguarda il comparto tecnico e grafico, ancora troppo sottotono.
