Aside from the most nitpicking of complaints, Yakuza 6 is but another declaration to the well-documented notion that Sega’s decade-long series remains one of the finest, most consistent outings in the medium. Both lovingly old and welcomingly new alike, while it would be criminal to reveal any plot spoilers, it wouldn’t be surprising in the slightest if this were the chapter with which Sega closes the coveted Yakuza series. Yakuza 6 isn’t just one of the best entries in the series to date, it’s also one of the most fulfilling experiences you’ll find in 2018. A game bursting with content and character alike, it takes its rightful place alongside some of the best releases of the year not just on substance or style, but on its ability to balance all its attributes yet pace it in a way that’s both manageable and inviting. Entertaining, engaging, emotional and enthralling, though it pains me to deny it the mark of perfection, make no mistake about it, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is an unparalleled masterclass in full flow. Fellow AAA/open-world outings, take note.

Yakuza 6 : The Song of Life est tout simplement l'épisode le plus abouti de la franchise depuis ses premiers pas sur PlayStation 2 en 2006. Le scénario intimiste misant sur la famille dysfonctionnelle de Kazuma Kiryu et cette mise en scène toujours plus cinématographique rendent un vibrant hommage aux films de gangsters japonais. La refonte globale du système de combat et des mécaniques RPG de ce jeu d'aventure assure des combats à la fluidité exemplaire et une évolution organique du héros, miroir des actes et des choix des joueurs. Et la réalisation est à la hauteur de ce récit captivant. Le photoréalisme des environnements et des cinématiques décroche la mâchoire et propulse les Yakuza virtuels que nous sommes dans un Japon fantasmé ô combien enivrant.

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is a beautiful game, plays smooth, and has a story that is genuinely compelling and driven by top notch dialogue and dynamic characters. The fighting is complex but easy to learn, and the game provides tons of great content in the form of mini-games, town exploration, and side storylines. There is lots to look at and take in as you play, and the game packs a lot of good into a nearly flawless package.

Yakuza 6: Song of Life supone un antes y un después en esta saga tan querida por sus fans. El motor gráfico Dragon Engine es sin duda un cambio a agradecer, que nos deja una recreación de sus dos zonas abiertas sin igual. Pero este cambio visual no viene exento de sacrificios, que se dejan ver en los demás aspectos del juego, tanto o más importantes: el combate, la exploración y el contenido secundario.

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life conclude in maniera perfetta l'arco narrativo di Kazuma Kiryu iniziato nell'ormai lontano 2006 su PlayStation 2. La trama basata sulla famiglia riesce sempre comunque a regalare tantissimi colpi di scena, facendo rimanere incollato il giocatore per tutta la durata del gioco. Meno ispirato il suo combat system, dove mancano i diversi stili di combattimento, una mancanza che rende i combattimenti sempre uguali, ma fortunatamente non riesce mai ad annoiare. Peccato per la risoluzione che cala sotto i 1080p se si è possessori della "normale" PlayStation 4. Nonostante tutto rimane un capitolo assolutamente consigliato a chi è fan dalla saga, oppure per chi cerca un titolo che lo intrattenga per le prossime uscite videoludiche.

Yakuza 6 is a great game because it's a Yakuza game, but it's not a great Yakuza game. It still has the great brawler action the series is known for, and a tight put together story. However, the tightening of the narrative in no ways makes up for all the great things I missed out on from the previous game.
