Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite es un juego impecable en cuanto a control, mecánicas de combate y posibilidades con cada uno de los 30 personajes incluidos (aunque echamos de menos algunos fichajes extra en el reparto de protagonistas). Sin embargo, cojea en su propuesta de modos de juego, con una campaña a la que le falta originalidad y pegada, y pocos modos de juegos para el jugador solitario. Su vertiente online tampoco se desvía demasiado de lo visto mil y una veces en incontables juegos de lucha, simplemente cumpliendo el expediente, sin conseguir destacar ni ofrecer nada especial fuera de su excelente jugabilidad.

En lo capital, Marvel VS. Capcom Infinite supone una revolución jugable dentro de la fórmula crossover entre héroes americanos y japoneses, con un Active Switch y unas gemas del infinito que aportan una nueva dimensión a la batalla. En los detalles, el juego no luce tanto: la campaña no es tan brillante, el apartado técnico ha obviado el cell-shading para quedar en tierra de nadie y se han tomado decisiones polémicas en cuanto a la plantilla de luchadores escogida y los DLC. La cuarta entrega de la franquicia podría brillar más, pero también es cierto que cuenta con virtudes suficientes para cautivar a los fanáticos del género de lucha.

That said, the Vs. series has always been more about the gameplay than anything else, so even with all of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite’s shortcomings, its gameplay is so strong that it helps you overlook them. Long story short, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite ain’t pretty, but it get’s the job done.

Capcom: Infinite tradisce un picchiaduro straordinario che potrebbe diventare il nuovo punto di riferimento del franchise se solo Capcom riuscirà a supportarlo a dovere. Più che altro è ironico che lo sviluppatore nipponico sia scivolato sulla proverbiale buccia di banana, azzeccando una rivoluzione strutturale importante ma sbagliando completamente sul fronte dell'estetica. In ogni caso, Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite non è affatto il fallimento che molti temevano o auspicavano, e alla luce del nostro test appare chiaro che tra questo e Dragon Ball FighterZ a breve, gli amanti del genere avranno due ottimi picchiaduro con cui divertirsi, piuttosto che uno soltanto. Insomma, alla fine abbiamo vinto tutti.

Even with all my complaints, I couldn’t help but enjoy my time with Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. I really, really enjoy playing the game and playing with the variety of characters - it’s just a shame that when combining two amazing universes such as Capcom and Marvel so much feels restrained or held back. Infinite might be the next big esports fighter, but this feels like a rough launch.

Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite è un gioco di combattimento piacevole e studiato per soddisfare sia i giocatori esperti che i neofiti del genere. Questa volta la casa di Osaka è riuscita a centrare il bersaglio, creando un’esperienza trasversale da giocare a più livelli. Peccato solo per il comparto tecnico insoddisfacente e per l’enorme operazione di riciclo fatta con il cast. Sono pochi, infatti, i lottatori inediti rispetto al precedente capitolo della serie, anche se molti veterani vantano un gameplay e un set di mosse del tutto rinnovato. Il roster di Infinite è un’occasione sprecata all’interno di un progetto sviluppato senza mai uscire da un’accogliente comfort zone. Una scelta sicura ma triste. Un approccio comprensibile, considerando l’attuale reputazione di Capcom tra i suoi fan di vecchia data.

Mancando la componente online, vero polmone di questa categoria di giochi, non è possibile dare un giudizio completo sul gioco. Sicuramente la modalità storia è carina, senza grossi sobbalzi o sorprese, ma con cut-scene comunque ben fatte, doppiaggio nella norma e personaggi ben caratterizzati (Spiderman e Iron-man su tutti). Il roster è equilibrato, senza personaggi che sembrino superare gli altri per mosse e combo ma il tutto andrà verificato meglio durante le sessioni online. Di una cosa si può esser certi però, con questo Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite l’azienda giapponese ha abbandonato i lidi sicuri del gameplay facile, per orientarsi verso quei giocatori che cercano un fighting tecnico e profondo. [UPDATE] Come immaginavo, durante l’online troveremo giocatori che nel bene o nel male usano sempre gli stessi personaggi dotati di combo veloci e “bloccanti” che minano il divertimento dei giocatori meno abituati a questo genere di battaglie. Peccato, perchè il gioco nell’insieme è davvero divertente. Le modalità online sono variegate e sarà possibile comunque adeguare i parametri di ricerca dell’avversario ai nostri gusti. Il voto provvisorio viene quindi confermato.

Avec ce nouvel épisode, la saga Marvel Vs Capcom conserve ses bases tout en modifiant drastiquement certains éléments de gameplay dans l’optique de séduire le plus grand nombre. Si elle perd un peu de son identité, la série gagne toutefois en accessibilité pour mieux attirer de nouveaux joueurs. Restent cependant quelques points cruciaux qui ternissent le tableau final, comme le style esthétique complètement raté des personnages, le casting un peu faiblard et les modes de jeux ultra-classiques. Les novices de la baston pencheront donc en faveur de cette version estampillée « Infinite » qui permet de sortir des enchainements de manière très simple. Tandis que les vieux routards de la castagne retourneront sur Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Der Neustart von Marvel vs. Capcom ist mit Infinite weitgehend gelungen. Sechs Jahre nach dem letzten Ableger des Crossover-Prüglers gibt es 30 ausgewogene Kämpfer, die in Zweierteams und mit einem der sechs Unendlichkeitssteine als taktisches Element antreten. Bei den Spielmodi bietet man zwar nur das Nötigste, um sich letztlich für die superschnellen Duelle gegen menschliche Gegner vorbereiten zu können. Doch die hyperaktiven sowie kombolastigen, dabei innerhalb der Serie aber zugänglicher als bislang inszenierten Gefechte, überzeugen mit einer guten Steuerung sowie weitgehend akkurater Kollisionsabfrage. Dennoch ist man von der Qualität sowohl der Vorgänger als auch der aktuellen Konkurrenz ein gutes Stück entfernt: Tekken 7 oder Injustice 2 bieten nicht nur für Solisten das bereits mittelfristig interessantere Gesamtpaket. Gerade Letzteres inszeniert auch einen deutlich besseren Story-Modus, der hier u.a. von einer schwachen Dramaturgie und mitunter grenzwertig peinlichen Dialogen geprägt wird – obwohl das erzählerische Fundament viel Spannung verspricht und neugierig macht. Doch Ungereimtheiten sowie das uneinheitliche Artdesign ziehen einen neben technischen Mankos, darunter vor allem auf der Xbox One fast unerträgliche Ladezeiten, immer wieder aus den vermischten Welten von Marvel und Capcom, die im Übrigen ohne Teilnahme der X-Men und damit auch Deadpool auskommen müssen.

L’idée de croiser les personnages des univers Marvel et Capcom est toujours aussi sympa… sur le papier. Le principe du crossover, s’il sent le fan service à des kilomètres est aussi l’occasion de bien s’amuser. Sauf que Capcom a été paresseux. Alors que l’on pouvait compter sur 48 personnages avec Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, il faut ici se contenter de 30 héros. Pour ne rien arranger, le casting est loin d’être parfait et à la place de Dormammu ou Arthur, nous aurions bien vu Wolverine ou Sagat par exemple. Autre regret, la simplification à outrance du gameplay permet de déclencher des combos et des ultras en veux-tu en voilà. Gageons qu’il s’agit d’ouvrir encore un peu plus la franchise à un public de joueurs pas forcément bastonneurs dans l’âme. Un jeu que l’on va donc déconseiller aux habitués de Street Fighter V, mais qui ravira sans doute nombre de néophytes tentés par son casting aussi hétéroclite que haut en couleurs.

Au final, Marvel Vs Capcom infitnite est un jeu de combat assez lambda, qui est à l’image de l’ensemble des productions de Capcom en matière de jeu de combat actuel. Doté d’une réalisation alternant le bon et le mauvais, on a l’impression que Capcom n’a plus grand-chose à dire dans le genre. Le mode histoire en est un terrible exemple, manquant d’originalité et de punch, à l’instar de ce qui avait été proposé avec Street Fighter V également. Il reste un jeu agréable à jouer, mais que vous oublierez très rapidement.
