Visions of Mana no es solo uno de los action RPG más bonitos, es también uno muy divertido, con un gran sistema de combate y mucho contenido, aunque en ocasiones parece que Square Enix ha querido ir sobre seguro sin apostar por nuevas ideas y conceptos, aunque la jugada les ha salido bien.

Visions of Mana ha resultado ser una fantástica sorpresa. Su historia no me ha terminado de alucinar, pero sí que ha sabido sacarme alguna lagrimita y sus personajes me han enamorado. He amado su combate y su mundo aunque no aporte absolutamente nada nuevo al género. Si buscas un JRPG divertido de principio a fin, y que se nota que ha sido diseñado y desarrollado para divertir, ni te lo pienses.

Visions of Mana est une vraie réussite qui le place d’office parmi les meilleurs épisodes de la série, près du top. Rares sont les jeux qui nous laissent autant libre dans la formation de notre équipe avec des jobs variés qui multiplient les possibilités. Très facile à prendre en même, il n’oublie pas d’être aussi magnifique à regarder avec une direction artistique exceptionnelle. Il n’aura peut-être pas l’aura de Secret of Mana à son époque, mais il met la barre très haut et se pose d’office comme LE JRPG du moment, sans aucun doute possible. Tant pour les fans de la grande époque que pour les nouveaux venus, Visions of Mana est une très bonne expérience que l’on vous conseille vivement !

Visions of Mana finally brings the long-dormant classic RPG series into the modern age, looking great and playing even better thanks to multi-layered class and skill systems that interact in clever ways. There are definitely some pacing issues and a few questionable design choices later on, and the occasional framerate drop or awkward lipsyncing can distract. But the flashy and exciting combat, deeply rewarding class system, and cast of likable characters make Visions of Mana a winning comeback for the classic series all the same – and a great game even if you haven’t spent decades waiting for it.

Malgré des débuts difficiles, Visions of Mana se révèle être un JRPG d’une incroyable richesse, doté d’un univers solidement construit et surtout visuellement sublime. Son système de combat et les nombreuses options de personnalisation offrent une profondeur suffisante pour nous captiver tout au long de l’aventure. Visions of Mana réussit le pari de moderniser la franchise sans trahir son héritage, marquant ainsi un retour triomphal pour la série Mana.

Se avesse avuto un budget maggiore e uno sviluppatore più esperto, Visions of Mana sarebbe stato un autentico capolavoro: invece è soltanto un ottimo titolo dai limiti appariscenti e per questo anche più frustranti. L'immaginario di Seiken Densetsu trova in questa iterazione una delle sue espressioni migliori, grazie a una direzione artistica di assoluto valore e a una narrativa riuscita. Scivola su un sistema di combattimento forse troppo ricco per le ambizioni contenute di Ouka Studios, che non è riuscito ad amalgamare alla perfezione tutti gli elementi in gioco. La strada tracciata però è quella giusta: ora serve solo percorrerla, affinarla e investire con fiducia sul suo futuro.

Visions of Mana è un gioco che mantiene le proprie promesse, presentandosi ben confezionato e senza dubbio un valido rilancio della serie. Offre un livello di personalizzazione della squadra incredibile, data la quantità di classi a disposizione e quel pizzico di microgestione delle abilità che non guasta mai, tuttavia c'è un'evidente disparità di forze con una classe specifica di Morley e non tutte quelle presenti possono risultare utili o interessanti. Non ci sono particolari segreti da scoprire, ogni aspetto viene dettato dalla trama, e la quantità di missioni secondarie è un po' eccessiva considerato il continuo avanti e indietro e il fatto che non siano proprio tutte memorabili, ma non si può negare che il gioco manchi di contenuti. La storia dolceamara corona un'esperienza che nel complesso va indubbiamente promossa.

Dopo una lunga attesa, Visions of Mana ritorna in modo splendido su console e PC. La nostra prova, effettuata su PlayStation 5, ci ha permesso di apprezzare i 60 fotogrammi al secondo, sfruttando la modalità performance. Il game design è elegante e raffinato, con un sistema di combattimento semplice ma intuitivo, arricchito da un eccellente sistema di progressione. Il mondo di gioco è vasto e ricco di missioni secondarie e situazioni da scoprire. Sebbene tenda a perdere un po’ di slancio verso il finale, mantiene costantemente alto il suo valore e i suoi messaggi.

Benché il nuovo sistema di classi abbia indubbiamente contribuito a svecchiare un minimo la formula del prodotto, la nuova “visione” di Square Enix continua a risultare troppo ancorata alle tradizioni della longeva saga nipponica, che quest'anno ha celebrato il suo trentatreesimo anniversario. È soprattutto sul piano narrativo che Visions of Mana fatica a convincere, in quanto il titolo ingrana la giusta marcia solo nelle fasi molto avanzate dell’avventura e che temiamo possano raggiungere soltanto i fan più nostalgici della serie. Il tutto è infine aggravato da una serie di imperfezioni tecniche che ci auguriamo vengano limate attraverso apposite patch.

As a nostalgia-driven retread of the classic Mana adventure, Visions of Mana is rock solid — but it struggles to be anything more than a reminder of how magical those old RPGs could be. If you can look beyond the game's monotonous storytelling and tragically bland characters, the essence of an old-school excursion is here, in the exploration of wonderful environments and in battles against burly boss monsters.
