It's good to see Sony seriously listening to its player base. Years ago, their idea of community relations was to basically laugh at anyone's suggestions. Thankfully, there's been a regime change down in San Diego and player requests are being heard, although enchanters may disagree with me. If EQ wasn't your cup of tea before, this won't change your mind. If you left in boredom, or frustration with Gates, then this may give you new interest.

FIFA 2005 is much improved over the last version of the game and fans of the series will no doubt feel good about grabbing it again. The choice between this game and a Konami soccer title, like many other debates in the sports world where EA is involved is a matter of taste, not necessarily quality. FIFA, like Madden, delivers a strong overall feeling of being involved in the world’s most popular sport in big noisy stadiums with highly skilled players who are regarded as gods by their fans. It’s great head to head and online because of the nature of soccer itself. The Franchise mode is extremely satisfying because the long term and short term consequences of your decisions are always going to be on your mind and that only ads to the pressure of winning. FIFA05 is the best version of the series so far.

It’s clear Power Rangers: Dino Thunder will only attract young fans of the television show. Dino Thunder’s overall lack of depth, difficulty and graphical pizzazz will forever delegate it to your little brother’s (or sister’s) game shelf. Parents should pick it up if they want to a game easy enough for their little kids. Hey, if 19 bucks will buy silence and peace of mind for weary parents, it’s quite a steal.

True, spending hours solving puzzles and reading page after page of journal entries isn't everyone's bag. But for those who love Myst and everything it represents, the latest iteration in the series is what they live for. It addresses many of the issues which plagued earlier installments, mainly the mind-detonating difficulty of Riven, and strikes a balance between the logical and the obscure. It delves deeper into mythos of the Myst universe through a captivating story while still providing enough cushion for beginners. It's also one of the most visually stunning and aurally pleasing adventure games, since, well, ever.

With a lack of presentation values, an engine that not only looks bad but also is the main cause of serious construction problems, and AI that could use a serious overhaul, Locomotion has too many problems for any serious recommendation. There's plenty of content, scenarios to keep diehard fans with blinders on interested. There's even multiplayer mode with either Gamespy or TCP/IP connect only (which I never would have found it if not for the manual) that's only appeal is the chance to play against an unpredictable human opponent. Good luck finding a game over Gamespy, I couldn't. The world has kept moving along with technology to allow players friendlier and more entertaining game experiences. It would have benefited this "spiritual successor" to Transport Tycoon to have jumped on that train. Frankly, I can only imagine that players who have gotten used to working around Transport Tycoon's flaws will be able to forgive Locomotion for its inadequacies.

I really did like Full Spectrum Warrior for its presentation and polish. It presents squad-based tactical combat in a way that's pretty fresh and interesting. The interface is easy to learn and mostly a cinch to use. Visually the game is near the top of the heap and the personality of each of the soldiers, while not constant, is a reminder that people actually do these kinds of things on a daily basis. The only real problem is that the game lets you have everything immediately and never really steps up the strategy and tactics into new and interesting territory. Creativity and style aren't necessarily an option. Basic puzzle solving is really all you'll need to get through almost every situation that you come across in the game. It's not necessarily bad, it just might not be what some of the strategy veterans used to more complex games on the PC are expecting. However, I still think anybody that picks Full Spectrum Warrior up at the store will have a great time while it lasts.

Go ahead, send in the hate mail. It can't be any more painful than playing this in my free time. In fact, it'll be a relief. The basic message here friends is you don't want this game. Not unless want to discover a new way to suffer. And if you play enough, I'll bet you'll even want to slit your own throat. I almost did. But the knife, thematic apropos, was plastic. Sob... Sarge's War is relatively competent, but so dull and dumbed down that it feels like it was designed for the inept gamer. It's designed for some complacent, soccer mom who doesn't know her Doom from her Mortal Kombat. Not for her seven year old kid, but for her. You know, for Your Mom. That's right, even your mom could play this one. In fact, you should give your mom this game. Then at least someone would be playing it.

Shadow Ops: Red Mercury won't be remembered as the seminal first-person shooter. Heck, it probably won't even be remembered after next month, but it's not a bad shooter overall. Yes, it has some glaring AI problems, some repetitive and overly simplistic gameplay aspects. And yeah, one of the final cut-scenes, where our hero lands on a speeding train, is about as PlayStation One graphics as it gets. Most people who get ShOps and make it through the first few levels (which I personally have much disdain for), will probably go on to finish the game.
