Shining in the Darkness est un très bon jeu, aussi charismatique et plaisant que le seront ses successeurs de la série des Shining. Ses quelques rares défauts sont intimement liés au genre dungeon-RPG qu’il représente malgré tout avec honneur. Du tout bon, donc, pour un titre malheureusement assez peu connu du grand public qui mériterait au moins autant d’égard que ses illustres successeurs.
And it's that style of presentation and visual flare that would go on to inspire further games, as "Shining" got its start here with "in the Darkness," but ultimately expanded into one of SEGA's most long-running franchises. Later games dropped the first-person perspective and strict emphasis on dungeon crawling seen here – a wise move – because those, and the level-grinding tedium and likelihood of misdirection they introduce, are the two aspects that might make you want to keep your 800 Wii Points in your virtual wallet, rather than investing in a download. Give this one a try if you don't mind a little old-school RPG monotony mixed in with your fantasy adventuring, or if you're a fan of later games in the Shining series and you're curious to see how it all began.
