Atlus doesn’t throw around the prestigious Persona brand lightly, and takes care of its characters in this visual novel/rhythm game mashup. The lengthy story mode fumbles with its first act, but picks up and develops into the kind of great Persona mystery that we’ve come to expect. The story is meaningful, the characters are full of personality, and the music is fantastic. The rhythm portion is a little too kid-gloves with its scoring, to the point where it might even hold you back in learning the rhythms, but the fun patterns and interesting items keep me coming back to my favorite songs.
Persona 4: Dancing All Night è un rhythm game con una personalità propria, e questo grazie anche e soprattutto al brand cui si appoggia. In un certo senso, Atlus ha addirittura esagerato a scapito del gameplay, ma siamo convinti che ciò non impedirà ai veri fan del popolare JRPG di godersi questa bizzarra parentesi musicale nell'universo dei loro personaggi preferiti: ci sono tantissimi goodies e collezionabili da sbloccare, al di là dello Story Mode un po' troppo lungo... peccato solo che le tracce non siano tantissime e tendano a ripetersi un po' troppo coi vari remix. Non resta che sperare in un plausibile sequel che includa anche i brani e i personaggi di Persona 3: considerando la popolarità della serie e i vari crossover già pubblicati, siamo piuttosto ottimisti.
