A lot of folks will try to tell you that the appeal of 2004’s Katamari Damacy was its stark originality, and that continuing to iterate on the same formula dilutes that creative juice more every time. And they’re probably right. But like Sisyphus pushing the proverbial sticky ball up the mountain, it’s about the joy in the process. That joy is still in abundance for players, and if the delightful absurdity that permeates every corner of this game is any indication I’d say it’s there for the creators as well.

Sin dejar de ser continuista, Tormented Souls 2 logra refinar su profundo y sincero homenaje a los grandes survival horror clásicos. Por momentos, no habría estado mal ver algo más de su propia cosecha, pero lo que hace tiene gusto y calidad suficientes como para establecerse como un juego capaz de ganarse a los fans más nostálgicos.

Ball x Pit est un jeu addictif disposant d’une structure invitant à la modération. Grâce à ses mécaniques simples à comprendre, les nombreuses combinaisons possibles entre les boules et les passifs ou encore à travers ses nombreux personnages, Ball x Pit est un titre extrêmement accrocheur. Malgré tout, derrière le plaisir manette en main et le très bon travail réalisé sur le son, la direction artistique et la courbe de progression se cache un titre qui peut se montrer répétitif dans le mauvais sens du terme. Sa dimension roguelite, certes limitée, induit cette répétitivité, mais le manque absolu de vraie variété dans la conception des niveaux peut rapidement lasser. Les boss sont intéressants la première fois mais ne représentent qu’un défi limité et, surtout, aucune variante n’a été aperçue durant le test. En somme, Ball x Pit a tout pour plaire, du moment qu’on y joue régulièrement par-ci par-là. Un très bon jeu, qui semble malgré tout avoir envie de rester une respiration entre deux titres plus demandeurs. En cette fin d’année chargée, il a cependant toute sa place en tant que « jeu de respiration ».

If you're nostalgic for the survival horror games of old, Tormented Souls 2 can provide a modern-looking trip down memory lane, with all the good and bad that brings. It has a tense atmosphere to soak up and some gorgeously spooky locations to explore, but you’ll need to push through janky combat and a bit of backtracking to enjoy them. Its esoteric puzzles really test your brainpower in a way that could sometimes frustrate, but also delighted the part of me that missed smashing key items together to see what would happen. There's a lot to enjoy here, as well as plenty that perhaps should have remained in the past, but Tormented Souls 2 still manages to stand as an entertaining callback to the adventures that made contemporary horror gaming what it is.

Tormented Souls 2 delivers a confidently crafted survival horror experience that leans into its classic inspirations while pushing the genre in creative directions. With stronger world design, improved pacing, and some of the most atmospheric puzzle sections in recent indie horror, it’s a must-play for fans of old-school tension and challenge. While the game occasionally frustrates with trial-and-error mechanics and limited interactivity, it still stands out as a passionate and memorable sequel.

Double Dragon Revive feels less like a return to glory that its title might suggest, and more like a police sketch of someone trying to describe what the series they loved looked like from memory. There’s the important details you’d need to identify it by – simple combat with big super attacks, peacocking bad guys of all shapes and sizes, the subway, casino, and elevator stages required by law to be in games like this – but none of it feels distinct or special, and the parts in which it's passable get held back by wonky, unresponsive controls and maddening difficulty spikes. Revival suggests reinvigoration, but this feels more like exhuming a shambling corpse.

Double Dragon Revive attempts to modernize a legendary beat’em up franchise with a story-driven approach and expanded mechanics, but stumbles due to its inconsistent execution. The game features flashy illustrations and an enjoyable combat loop, yet suffers from imbalanced systems and technical roughness that undermine the experience. While fans may appreciate the nostalgic elements and replayable content, the lack of polish makes it hard to recommend over more refined alternatives.

Ci sentiamo assolutamente di consigliare questo seguito a chi ha già apprezzato il primo e vuole sapere come prosegue la storia. Aspettatevi un secondo capitolo all’altezza, ma che non porta nessuna vera innovazione, anzi, si limita a prendere elementi dal primo in tutte le sue caratteristiche. Ai nuovi player consigliamo di cominciare chiaramente dal primo titolo, e nel caso vi piaccia potete continuare con questo secondo capitolo, ammesso che siate dei nostalgici dei vecchi Resident Evil.

I couldn’t stop smiling as each melon, shoe, playing card, traffic cone, and house satisfyingly snapped into place on my whirling clump of stuff as I rolled across time and space. The only time Once Upon A Katamari broke my delirious grin was when it tickled my ears with riffs so funky the bassist practically reached through my TV’s speakers and slapped a stank face out of me (and that’s meant as a compliment). This appropriately ostentatious, energetic return is the best the Katamari series has been since the PlayStation 2 era. With cleverly implemented tweaks to the ever-satisfying gauntlet of rolling delights, a stellar soundtrack, and offbeat charm in spades, there will always be room on my hard drive for Once Upon A Katamari.

Once Upon a Katamari no se aleja ni un milímetro de la fórmula de la saga; de hecho, se maneja prácticamente igual. Pero enriquece la fórmula con más desafíos, objetivos más variados, niveles muy locos y un multijugador competitivo para cuatro jugadores (online incluido). Y todo regado con el humor absurdo marca de la casa.

Once Upon a Katamari parte dall'idea semplice e geniale della serie e la sposta attraverso il tempo, per offrire uno spaccato esilarante della Storia umana. Dentro ci sono tante idee per variare una formula che, di base, resta sempre uguale, ma proprio grazie all'estro e alle trovate assurde è costantemente spassosa, cullata da musiche irresistibili e da una confezione straordinariamente giapponese. Se avete amato questo brand in passato, questo ritorno vi farà fischiettare allegri per giorni; se non ci avete mai giocato, è davvero un buon momento per dargli una possibilità e scoprire quanto può essere divertente rotolare sopra un gruppo di filosofi greci o attraverso un branco di velociraptor.

Caroline Walker regresa con su hermana en una nueva aventura que supera con creces al primer Tormented Souls. El survival horror de los hermanos Araneda crece en esta secuela con un enfoque más ambicioso que nada tiene que envidiar a los grandes clásicos del género. Escenarios diseñados con belleza e inteligencia, personajes potentes y una cantidad inmensa de puzles profundos son las claves de una búsqueda que nos llevará por distintas localizaciones en busca de nuestra hermana. Dos finales con la promesa de un tercer final 'jocoso' en el futuro, muchas situaciones de tensión y la necesidad de usar la cabeza para llegar a los créditos son las armas de un lanzamiento que sorprende por el mimo con el que ha sido creado.
