Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter riprende meccaniche, stile e punti di forza del suo predecessore e li inserisce in un gioco un po' più solido, in cui esplorazione e combattimento risultano più dinamici e responsivi. Mantenendo il già noto sistema di progressione, raffina potenziamenti, meccaniche e curva della difficoltà, presentando una buona esperienza complessiva. Forse poco ispirato nei boss, sfrutta comunque un'ottima direzione artistica per supportare un'avventura godibile, in cui la storia narrata rappresenta un pretesto interessante per tornare in azione.

Whiskers of Winter maintains all the charm and challenge that made Tails of Iron such a cracker of a game while improving the core gameplay loop, even if some new features do work better than others. Regardless of my minor issues, I had an absolute blast following Arlo’s journey and no doubt this will be up there with one of my favourites of the year, and for $36, it’s hard to argue that you won’t get your money’s worth.

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter est bien l’excellente suite qu’il prétend être. Le jeu s’appuie sur les solides bases de son prédécesseur, sans rien bousculer, pour pondre un digne héritier 2D des Dark Souls. Il fait la différence avec ses combats à la fois exigeants et prenants, avec un gameplay bien pensé et suffisamment profond pour tenir sur la longueur. On est tout autant séduit par la proposition artistique de Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter, qui s’inspire de Game of Thrones, entre autres, pour nous plonger dans une guerre « mignonne » entre des rats et des chauve-souris. Pour parachever ce tableau déjà fort reluisant, l’histoire est racontée par la voix officielle de Geralt de Riv. Rien que ça.

When Eternal Strands is good, it’s very good, thanks to exciting boss fights that iterate upon Shadow of Colossus’s gigantic encounters better than just about any of the other games that have used it as inspiration. While its story is underwhelming and some aspects of its gear progression are especially convoluted, the combat is built on an extremely strong foundation thanks to a versatile set of powers that encourage and reward creativity, especially in the showstopping Great Foe battles. The novelty does begin to fade after a while, especially when you’re forced to fight those same bosses and enemies again in the same locations, occasionally with frustrating weather effects, but the high points of Eternal Strands mitigate the low points enough to still make it an action RPG that’s easy to recommend.

Synduality Echo of Ada tiene potencial como shooters de extracción y un montón de buenas ideas en cuanto a ambientación y mecánicas de juego. Su narrativa es interesante al menos en el planteamiento del mundo y personajes, cuenta con una estética visual atractiva y un combate divertido, pero el juego necesita urgentemente más contenido, mejor balance y una mejor experiencia de usuario. Si los desarrolladores trabajan en colaboración con la comunidad para abordar estas áreas y dotar al juego de interesantes misiones que profundicen en su historia y universo, si las van añadiendo en las temporadas del juego que están por venir, el título podría subir muchos enteros.

À l’image de son gameplay où magie, physique, crafting et gestion des éléments s’intriquent parfaitement, Eternal Strands parvient à digérer ses innombrables influences pour nous livrer une aventure singulière et jouissive. Galvanisé par la sensible montée en puissance de notre héroïne au fil des découvertes, on explore avidement ses niveaux gigantesques et bourrés de surprises tout en s’amusant avec des pouvoirs au potentiel dévastateur. C’est parfois un peu bordélique, mais c’est justement dans ces aléas qu’Eternal Strands va également puiser son fun.

Mitigé, c’est sur ce sentiment que s’est terminée notre aventure. Après des premières heures poussives, en partie à cause de combats qui manquent d’impact et de sensations, mais aussi à une structure narrative peu inspirée où les allers-retours sont légion. Heureusement, en progressant on débloque de nouveaux pouvoirs qui, combinés entre eux et avec l’environnement permettent des affrontements bien plus jouissifs. Le titre est vraiment joli, aussi bien dans ses décors, ses effets de lumière et sa direction artistique. Il dispose d’un univers cohérent et réfléchi avec ses races, régions, et événements et il nous offre une très jolie bande son ainsi qu’un doublage intégral en français de qualité. Eternal Strands mérite qu’on s’y intéresse, même s’il faudra composer avec des premières heures difficiles.

Nonostante alcune imperfezioni come il backtracking eccessivo nelle fasi avanzate, una scrittura un po’ lenta e prolissa e l‘assenza dei sottotitoli in italiano, Eternal Strands riesce a offrire un'esperienza di tutto rispetto grazie al suo sistema di combattimento creativo, alle epiche battaglie contro i giganteschi boss e a un mondo ricco di dettagli da esplorare. La fusione di elementi presi da celebri esponenti del genere (su tutti gli ultimi Zelda, Dragon’s Dogma e Shadow of the Colossus) viene inoltre gestita in modo intelligente, creando un action adventure solido e longevo. Davvero niente male per un gioco venduto a prezzo budget e sviluppato da un team con al suo interno nomi importanti, OK, ma pur sempre piccolo ed esordiente.
