Death end re;Quest: Code Z is an overly eager follow-up to Compile Heart's darker RPG series, suffering from a noticeably rushed main narrative and botched character dynamics. Further, the gameplay genre shift has been handled rather poorly, with dull progression and unnecessarily frustrating growth permeating the experience. Unless you're a dedicated fan of the Death end re;Quest series, Code Z is not worth your time.

You’ll enjoy the story and exploration side of Post Trauma, perhaps more than the combat sections and latter puzzles. Just be sure you understand that the tests of mind that are in place in Post Trauma will not be simple to solve. Post Trauma honours those games of the past, all while trying to do something entirely new.

Revenge of the Savage Planet L'esistenza stessa di Revenge of the Savage Planet è un piccolo miracolo, dopo le sfortunate vicende che hanno coinvolto l'originario team di sviluppo. Felici di questo inatteso ritorno tra folli ecosistemi alieni, il titolo realizzato da Raccoon Logic propone una nuova avventura che recupera il medesimo sarcasmo che aveva decretato il successo del predecessore. Se la scrittura è rimasta inalterata, a cambiare è tuttavia la struttura ludica che abbraccia la terza persona, che incoraggia la cooperativa e strizza l'occhio ai sandbox. Il prodotto finale, benché ricco e divertente, risulta tuttavia meno equilibrato e coeso rispetto al primo capitolo. Alcuni fan potrebbero adorare questo nuovo corso ma altri potrebbero sentire presto la mancanza della scintilla di quella pazza avventura del 2020. Revenge of the Savage Planet apporte la dose de légèreté dont nous avions besoin au cœur du printemps. Si vous avez aimé le premier opus, vous aimerez à coup sûr cette suite, certes un peu sage mais qui a le mérite de pluraliser les environnements traversés. On regrette le manque d’engagement demandé aux joueurs et joueuses dans une histoire qui se suit sans vraiment interroger, sans vraiment piéger non plus, malgré de gros efforts de mise en scène notables et bienvenus. Les activités annexes et collectibles ne manquent pas dans un univers encourageant l’exploration et tâcheront de relever une durée de vie un poil courte en ligne droite. En bref, une belle aventure pour les passionnés d’action-aventure-plateforme loufoque sans toutefois briser des codes pourtant présentés sur un plateau.

Revenge of the Savage Planet already looked to end on a pitch-perfect note, rewarding the time and effort I’d put into erecting an entire outpost – inclusive of my own customised living quarters and several small zoos – with utter abandonment. But then it managed an even greater late-game twist. One that’s inward-looking, AI-critical and ends on a credits song about shitting and pissing on company time. It’s exactly as dumb and brilliant as that sounds.

Revenge of the Savage Planet è una piccola perla. Non è un gioco che eccelle sotto un punto di vista particolare, ma un’esperienza fatta di tanti sotto-sistemi solidissimi, per quanto annacquati. Il combattimento non è tecnico, ma riesce comunque a convincere. Il platforming non presenta la complessità dei capolavori del genere, ma si fa comunque apprezzare. L’esplorazione non è raffinata, ma presenta comunque delle soluzioni argute e dei mondi vibranti. La trama non è nulla di che, ma è impreziosita da un umorismo che oscilla costantemente tra il nonsense e il black humor. Ed è proprio quest’ultimo a fare da collante per l’intera esperienza, trasformandola da un insieme di sistemi più o meno interconnessi tra loro in un titolo di spessore, che riesce a fornire una dozzina di ore (da raddoppiare, se volete esplorare tutto l’esplorabile) di sano e spensierato divertimento.
