Among Giants firma una propuesta que ha logrado convencernos a pesar de sus problemillas técnicos. Una gran aventura en la mítica montaña Albatroz en la que la naturaleza se convierte en la gran protagonista de la historia. Conducción, peregrinaje, supervivencia y RPG se unen para crear un todo que en ocasiones resulta sublime, y otras, no tanto.

Albatroz est un jeu charmant qui manque clairement d'optimisation. Les développeurs brésiliens d'Among Giants avaient la volonté de nous proposer une grande aventure en compagnie d'Isla et de ses amis, mais la réalisation générale plombe clairement l'ensemble et sort petit à petit le joueur d'une expérience qui aurait du être grandiose. Albatroz est un titre qui avait le potentiel de nous laisser des souvenirs plein la tête, entre des panoramas en état de grâce et le sentiment d'accomplissement par l'exploration de la montagne, pour un résultat qui au final ne laissera qu'un goût amer teinté de frustration.

Farmagia is a narrative-driven action-strategy game that blends farming, monster-raising, and real-time combat in the fantasy realm of Felicidad. Players join protagonist Ten and his allies in resisting a tyrannical regime, forging bonds with Elementals, and navigating satisfying combat mechanics centered on timing and parrying. Despite some underdeveloped world-building and maze repetition, Farmagia offers rewarding gameplay loops, memorable character interactions, and a surprisingly immersive English dub, making it a standout gem in 2024's lineup.

Hot Wheels Monster Trucks: Stunt Mayhem è un titolo che incarna lo spirito dell'iconico marchio Mattel in tutto e per tutto: vetture coloratissime e stravaganti, acrobazie folli e mega loop nel classico arancione che contraddistingue le piste da sempre, ma la riproposizione dei tratti distintivi delle macchinine non basta e non vale il prezzo del biglietto. Seppur in prima battuta immaginarsi in un'arena con macchine da distruggere e rampe per volare sempre più in alto per poter volteggiare in aria siano in grado di strapparci un sorriso, dopo pochi show con arene fin troppo simili tra loro e obiettivi ridondanti quella sensazione tenderà a svanire fin troppo velocemente. Nonostante il prezzo di vendita ridotto, il gioco presenta pochi contenuti e il multiplayer solo locale risulta un aspetto ancora più riduttivo dell'offerta.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered migliora il più possibile un gioco di sette anni fa che, sotto diversi aspetti, non necessitava di chissà quale upgrade grafico. Il risultato però è notevole e permette di (ri)scoprire un gioco di precedente generazione con un abbellimento grafico generale di tutto rispetto, soprattutto a livello di texture, espressioni facciali e illuminazione. Rimane il rimpianto per l'assenza di qualsiasi innovazione nella struttura di gioco e nel gameplay, ma visto che non siamo di fronte a un remake non potevamo nemmeno aspettarci altrimenti.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is kind of a tough one to summate or score in a traditional review format. The mechanical elephant in the room here is obviously the question of whether this endeavour was a necessary one, or who it might be for, but I don’t think I’m here to ponder the necessity of a work or judge who should consume it. Despite being lukewarm on Horizon Zero Dawn when it first launched in 2017, I’ve come right around on the series since its fantastic follow-up. I’m also the owner of a big and expensive OLED TV along with an ongoing pre-order for the PlayStation 5 Pro, so I definitely think it’s for me, at the very least. If what you want is to re-experience Horizon Zero Dawn – or experience it for the first time – with some of the prettiest visuals you’ll see in modern gaming, this will get you there. But more than that, if you’re interested in game design and production, especially on the artistic side of the process, it’s a fascinating look at what is arguably a “best-case” remastering effort where ambition and capital were clearly in abundance.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard refreshes and reinvigorates a storied series that stumbled through its middle years, and leaves no doubt that it deserves its place in the RPG pantheon. The next Mass Effect is going to have a very tough act to follow, which is not something I ever imagined I'd be saying before I got swept away on this adventure. Enjoyable action combat, a fantastic cast of allies with sweeping story arcs all their own, top-notch cinematics, and moving, nuanced character writing are the wings on which this triumphant dragon soars, pulling out all the stops in a whirlwind tour of Northern Thedas and capping it with a terrific finale that’s built on memorably tough choices and consequences. If we never get another Dragon Age, at least it got to go out on a high note.

L’attente était longue avant de pouvoir enfin mettre les mains sur Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Dix longues années, mais qui au bout nous offrent une superbe aventure. Nous avons passé un peu plus de quarante heures sur le titre sans jamais nous ennuyer. L’expertise de Bioware en matière de narration est toujours là avec une écriture de grande qualité et des lieux où personnages hauts en couleurs. Les compagnons sont attachants et les choix qu’il faut prendre au cours de notre aventure révèlent parfois des conséquences inattendues mais non moins importantes. Côté gameplay, la formule se modernise et pourra laisser quelques vieux briscards sur le carreau en proposant des combats dynamiques et misant beaucoup sur le spectaculaire, finalement plus proches d’un Mass Effect que des premiers Dragon Age. Graphiquement, le titre jouit d’un véritable soin aussi bien dans ses environnements variés que dans la modélisation de ses personnages (et de leurs cheveux) notamment grâce à un énorme travail sur les éclairages. Dragon Age: The Veilguard est sans conteste une expérience à ne pas louper.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard è un action-GdR ambizioso e imperfetto che riesce comunque a superare le aspettative, nonostante il lungo e travagliato sviluppo. BioWare è infatti riuscita a offrire un'esperienza di gioco sufficientemente robusta, fatta di una trama gradevole, scelte narrative interessanti e un combat-system solido e soprattutto divertente, che a conti rifatti rimane la cosa migliore del gioco. Anche se l'impatto grafico resta al di sotto degli standard odierni per una produzione tripla A, la cura nell'intreccio e la profondità dei personaggi compensano in parte queste carenze, regalando ai giocatori un'avventura molto longeva (forse pure troppo) ed epica al punto giusto. Il risultato, pur se con una componente ruolistica molto annacquata e un filo di stanchezza e ripetitività mentre ci si avvicina alla fine, riesce a convincere, anche se i primi due capitoli della serie rimangono un'altra cosa.

Shadow of the Damned: Hella Remastered non è la riedizione del secolo, anzi rientra nella categoria di operazioni-compitino che si limitano a fare il giusto senza spingersi oltre, tuttavia non è invecchiato così male come può sembrare. Al netto di movimenti un po' legnosi e meccaniche che potevano essere rifinite, il gunplay regge ancora e la scrittura fuori di testa, con quell'umorismo da taverna perfettamente in linea con la sua anima b-movie a cui non serve una trama per catturare l'attenzione, lo rende un gioco consigliato a chi è davvero curioso di scoprire una delle vecchie ma non troppo pazzie di Goichi Suda e ovviamente ancora più mirato a chi l'ha già apprezzato a suo tempo.
