Rise of the Ronin est bel et bien le jeu le plus ambitieux de la Team Ninja et de loin. Bien plus narratif que ses prédécesseurs, il nous plonge dans un Japon en pleine ébullition dans l’une des périodes les plus importantes de son histoire. Malheureusement c’est assez long à devenir réellement intéressant. La faute à une narration qui se perd à vouloir créer de la fiction là où il n’y a pas besoin. Mais c’est aussi la faute à un open world qui n’a rien de très enivrant au départ, loin derrière un certain Ghost of Tsushima. Rise of the Ronin apparaît alors comme un jeu en monde ouvert parmi tant d’autres. Heureusement, non seulement sa seconde partie relève très grandement le niveau, mais surtout, il peut compter sur un gameplay ultra dynamique, exigeant et très profond. Chaque combat prend au tripes et ce même si les objectifs et l'exploration n’ont rien de bien fou. Ajoutez à ça un peu de coopération en ligne, une tonne d’équipements à looter et un challenge relevé et vous un action RPG plus que honnête, malgré ses quelques défauts.

Rise of the Ronin rappresenta un interessante esperimento, ma pecca nella sua realizzazione completa. Il nuovo progetto di Team Ninja mostra un grande potenziale ludico e una trama coinvolgente, ma soffre di scelte di game design poco coerenti e, soprattutto, di gravi carenze. Innanzitutto, la struttura delle missioni ripetitive e un open world carente di varietà e di un level design stimolante compromettono l’esperienza complessiva. Inoltre, ci siamo trovati delusi da una grafica non all’altezza delle aspettative per un gioco del 2024, soprattutto considerando il livello attuale della next-gen. Pur presentando solide basi, Rise of the Ronin non può essere considerato uno dei migliori titoli degli ultimi anni.

El juego tiene grandes ideas y muchos trajes le confieren habilidades muy divertidas a la princesa. Sin embargo, el juego no quiere hacer crecer estas ideas a lo largo del juego, con lo que al título le falta algo de chispa. Por lo tanto, Princess Peach: Showtime! se queda en un juego bonito, agradable y gracioso, pero podría ser mucho más.

As buggy as the bayou, Alone in the Dark is a disappointing return for the classic horror franchise. Derceto Manor has corners worth exploring, and the puzzles are smartly designed. However, the clunky combat, lack of scares, unengaging story and drab voice acting sully the overall package.

Alone in the Dark (the franchise) being the progenitor for so much of what we love in survival horror, only to find itself afflicted by its own kind of curse in the decades following its initial success is genuinely tragic. This latest iteration comes closer than its predecessors to claiming a seat back at the table but its inability to conceive of an identity beyond contemporary mechanics and well-worn tropes leaves it wanting. There’s a version of Alone in the Dark 2024 that found a way to lean into its absurdist concepts and performances but self-seriousness and a lack of focus makes for a game fumbling for the lights. Slap the boards back over the windows of Derceto, maybe we can open it up again in another thirty years.

On devine un bon jeu derrière la myriade de bugs et de petits problèmes rencontrés sur cette courte aventure. Alone in the Dark partait assurément de bonnes intentions, et il transpire la passion de ses développeurs pour l’univers imaginé par Frédérick Raynal. Malheureusement, malgré quelques qualités sautant aux yeux, notamment en termes d’ambiance et de mise en scène, conférant au titre une identité très appréciable, trop de choses demeurent à revoir, à commencer par les combats. La franchise semble définitivement maudite…

Ce reboot d'Alone in the Dark est rempli de bonnes intentions, qui font ressurgir l'ADN originale avec un certain brio. Le parti pris des développeurs vis à vis des mécaniques de gameplay, de la caméra fixe ou encore du rythme du jeu est savoureux qui fera mouche auprès des joueurs nostalgiques. Malheureusement, tout n’est pas rose au Manoir Decerto. La partie technique du jeu est indéniablement faible, tandis que la partie orientée « action » manque de dynamisme et de rythme. À l’image du jeu, finalement. Car si la sauce prend lors des échanges entre les personnages ou durant l’enquête, il en souffre d’autant plus une fois que l’action prend le dessus. Dommage qu’au final l’expérience en soit si affectée et si déséquilibrée.

Alone in the Dark è una reinterpretazione senz'altro ambiziosa e ricercata, un tributo all'opera originale (e a tutto ciò che è venuto dopo) che mette in campo una narrazione di un certo spessore, ottime prestazioni attoriali, una direzione artistica interessante e una struttura solida sul piano dell'esplorazione e degli enigmi. Purtroppo il design dei combattimenti si rivela davvero approssimativo e mette ulteriormente in luce i limiti di una realizzazione tecnica obsoleta, che solo in alcuni frangenti lascia trasparire la limpidezza dei talenti coinvolti nel progetto.

Alone in the Dark's promising atmosphere is let down by annoying and repetitive puzzles, poor combat and frequent glitches. There's a good game in there somewhere but you have to put up with a lot of frustration to find it.

Alone in the Dark est de retour avec un remake qui reprend les intrigues du premier opus. Un projet modeste, avec un jeu AA bien loin des moyens et des ambitions d'un survival-horror AAA. Et pourtant, ce remake d'Alone in the Dark parvient à nous offrir une aventure sympathique, avec de bonnes idées. Non sans défaut, le titre parvient à nous offrir l'essentiel : une aventure angoissante, avec une très bonne ambiance fidèle au jeu original. Un bon moment garantie pour les fans de la licence et du genre.

Alone in the Dark plays more of a moody psychological thriller with a heavy emphasis on puzzles rather than a traditional survival horror experience. That combined with the plethora of technical issues hold another remake of an original masterpiece back from reaching its true heights.

Jeu d’aventure-action lovecraftien à l’ancienne plutôt que Survival Horror frénétique, Alone in the Dark se permet une ré-imagination intéressante des épisodes fondateurs. La nostalgie se heurte malheureusement à la désuétude : même le fan hardcore de la licence aura du mal à passer outre des systèmes trop archaïques. Nous aurions apprécié que, libéré des chaînes des AAA aux budgets faramineux et du besoin de faire obligatoirement mieux que ses concurrents, le titre de Pieces Interactive tente plus de choses, fasse différemment, s’autorise une certaine radicalité. Il n’en est rien. Une aventure avec un grand “AA”, imparfaite dans son fond comme sa forme, mais sincère dans tout ce qu’elle entreprend.

MLB The Show 24 tweaks an already sturdy foundation, with new defensive animations bringing the biggest change to gameplay. Its success as a compelling package largely stems from its single player additions, with the documentary-like Storylines mode starring Derek Jeter accompanying the second season of the outstanding Negro Leagues. The addition of female athletes to Road to the Show is sure to inspire an entire generation, while foundational favourites like Franchise and Diamond Dynasty remain at the top of their game, despite their underlying familiarity.
