Cette collection ne révolutionne pas la formule établie ces dernières années et ne saurait trouver son public qu'à condition que les fans soient absolument acquises à la cause d'un ou plusieurs des titres inclus. Reste à savoir si Capcom cherche ici à prendre la température pour un éventuel retour d'une de ses licences restées silencieuses depuis trop longtemps, ou simplement à donner une opportunité aux fans de retrouver leurs madeleines de Proust. Bref, à l'instar de la première, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 cible un public précis et sera évidemment porté par la qualité de son mode multijoueur en ligne, ainsi que par le retour d'un opus très apprécié des connaisseurs : Capcom VS SNK 2.

En nous emmenant vers cette époque où l’on osait tout et parfois un peu n’importe quoi, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 est certainement la plus éclectique des compilations de jeux de baston de l’éditeur japonais. Retrouver au même endroit Power Stone, Capcom vs SNK et Rival School 2 relève d’une certaine idée de la perfection pour le joueur qui a vécu ces années désormais lointaines sur Dreamcast ou en Arcade au rythme des prouesses signées Capcom. Si l’on peut rester de marbre devant une paire de jeux et trouver que les titres 3D de l’époque ont pris un coup de vieux visuel, la proposition est de très haut niveau dans son ensemble et peut surtout compter sur Capcom vs SNK 2, monument de la baston 2D, pour justifier à lui seul de se lancer tôt ou tard à l’assaut de Capcom Fighting Collection 2.

È molto più difficile creare un videogioco godibile dove sei un poliziotto, che non uno dove sei un criminale – e il motivo è abbastanza semplice: nel secondo caso, il divertimento ludico passa proprio dal poter fingere, nel gioco, di non avere regole, di avere totale libertà di azione. Nel primo, invece, proprio il rispetto delle regole del protocollo è la base, rendendo ogni tentativo di esperienza free roam, come quella di The Precinct, necessariamente "simulativo", basato su una routine. Questo, in effetti, il gioco di Fallen Tree Games lo realizza molto, molto bene: in un'atmosfera anni '80 ben tratteggiata e ben musicata, chi è affascinato dall'idea di diventare un poliziotto virtuale trova qui, ludicizzato, ogni piccolo aspetto: dalle multe al vandalismo, dalla guerra tra gang alle mansioni della Stradale, dalla Volante di supporto all'Investigativa per un omicidio all'interrompere un tentativo di rapina. Dove The Precinct arranca è proprio nel suo loop, che per la sua natura fatica a prestarsi a un'esperienza ludica duratura, ed esaurisce la sua spinta vitale un po' prima di quanto non finisca il gioco. Complici anche, certo, degli spigoli tecnici ancora presenti, che non sempre permettono al gioco di brillare pienamente. Ma, nonostante tutto questo, rimane il più riuscito "simulatore di Polizia" da molto, molto tempo: meno ingessato dei concorrenti, a fuoco nella sua atmosfera, stiloso nelle scelte di regia e di direzione artistica. Non sarà GTA né il suo esatto contrario col distintivo, ma è un gioco di personalità dove è vero che si dimostra che fare i buoni in un videogame può essere più noioso che fare i cattivi – ma anche che sa essere gratificante.

The Precinct’s focus on proper arrest protocols and penalising excessive force requires a certain level of patience that not everybody will possess (and it’s a system that eventually wears out its welcome) but I genuinely enjoyed prowling the city for procedural crimes while the story lasted – and the soggy, neon-splashed ’80s setting works wonders. Fallen Tree Games had a previous crack at emulating the top-down shenanigans of classic Grand Theft Auto back with 2019’s American Fugitive, but putting the action on the right side of the law in The Precinct has proven to be far more arresting.

The Precinct è una lettera d’amore ai polizieschi degli anni ’80, confezionata con cura e un pizzico di nostalgia. Non reinventa il genere e non prova a competere con i titani del mondo open world, ma trova la sua identità in un equilibrio ben costruito tra azione, atmosfera e libertà. Se avete sempre sognato di vestire la divisa e pattugliare le strade di una città corrotta con solo una radio e un paio di manette, questo gioco potrebbe regalarvi esattamente quell’esperienza. Imperfetto, ma dannatamente stiloso.

The Precinct ha tutto ciò che serve per mettere in scena un grande spettacolo, ma dimentica la cosa più importante: l'intrattenimento. Parte da un'idea intrigante e la sviluppa attraverso una struttura procedurale solida... che però comincia a scricchiolare troppo presto. La narrazione è ridotta all'osso, il mondo di gioco affascina ma resta in superficie, e il gameplay, pur con qualche intuizione brillante, fatica a rinnovarsi nel tempo. Eppure, non mancano momenti in cui tutto sembra funzionare: inseguimenti rocamboleschi, un sistema morale ben congegnato e quel pizzico di soddisfazione nel far rispettare la legge — almeno finché dura. Chi desidera calarsi nel tutore dell'ordine potrebbe trovarci qualcosa di interessante. Per tutti gli altri, The Precinct rischia di trasformarsi in un lungo, monotono, giro di pattuglia.

Es una pena que The Precinct acabe siendo un título irregular, quizá por algunos arcaicos sistemas, su previsible historia y su repetitivo bucle jugable, porque aquí había potencial para mucho más. Aun así, los amantes de la fórmula GTA pueden encontrar algo que les entretenga durante unas horas, siempre que no esperen algo al nivel de Rockstar.

The Precinct has potential to be great as a view into the other side of things if you're a GTA fan, but that would all depend on whether you can look past some of the issues. It’s worth a play if you're ever curious to see what the cop life is like.

Racing after an armed robber, crashing through road signs and dodging civilians, only to jump out of your patrol car, take cover behind your vehicle and engage in a firefight with the crazed assailant is as fun in The Precinct as it sounds. Unfortunately, once they’re in cuffs, the monotony of processing the soon-to-be prisoner drags the experience down. Combined with a shallow story told in an uneven way, the repetitive gameplay loop tarnishes the badge and gives the boys in blue a bad wrap.

While it doesn't necessarily break new ground compared to its genre contemporaries, Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade is a well-crafted action roguelite that wholeheartedly embraces its strengths. Alongside an exceptional combat flow and meaningful weapon customization, evocative character arcs shine with memorable individuality. Even if the title's greatest avenues of potential, namely the boss variety, aren't reached, this is still a worthwhile triple adventure for action enthusiasts.
